[Willow Woods] The search begins

5th Zi'da, arc 716

The forest was cold and quiet, there was a strange lack of wind that morning and it was making Ti feel uncomfortable. He liked it when there was a breeze at least, it reminded him that time was moving forward even when he was still. Time was a concept that had always escaped Ti, it was such an abstract concept something moving ever forward. Ti shivered thinking about the one constant in the world the one thing he knew for certain would continue long after he was gone. He quickly shook the idea and brought his attention back to the forest, he could not afford to be distracted by such thoughts. He had to find her and the longer they were apart the less he could ignore the feelings of being incomplete that were gradually consuming him.

He stepped forward feeling the the strange pull guiding him through the dense forest. He didn't quite know how to describe the feeling, it was like he was being guided by an invisible rope, except it wasn't quite that strong. The feeling also wasn't physical it was all mental like he knew where he was going without ever having been there before. This helped him be comfortable with just walking unknowingly through the forest. He stepped softly along the forest floor, his feet feeling the grass and the leaves that littered the surface. He attempted to memorise his surroundings so he would be able to find his way back out of the forest when the time came.

Ti followed the feeling; the feeling had been pestering him to follow it since he first saw the panther in the dream with Jesine. Now he followed it it felt better but whenever he would stop he would begin to feel the nagging in the back of his mind. It was like he was being jabbed with a stick for every bit he ignored his feelings and walked away from the pull. He was thankful for the reminder though, he wanted to find her, he needed to and the constant reminder was going to help him find her. The pull was his guide and would show him the way to her he just needed to trust his instincts and the feeling that was controlling him.

He found himself picturing the panther, her ebony fur shimmering in the light. He remembered he bright blue eyes and how they had peered into his soul. He still felt like she was watching him now like her intelligent eyes were tracing his movement as he searched for her. He hoped to find her soon as being apart was making him more and more uncomfortable and he could hardly take it anymore. He stopped as he saw a glimpse of something black move ahead of him in the forest.

He felt his pace quicken as he headed towards the flicker of black that he had seen, it had been so brief yet he could not ignore anything he saw, he could not risk missing her. He kept walking speeding up feeling himself covering more ground and delving further into the forest. Before he realised he was running between the trees, a sense of uncontrollable urgency forcing him onward. His feet pattered against the ground as his Sev'ryn feet moved delicately over the forest floor even at speed. He saw a flash of black again so brief but Ti felt it was real as he ran. The trees passed him by and he was soon lost, both mentally and physically. Everything looked the same as he stopped and span around. The trees were blotting out much of the light and the forest was in a sort of twilight. Ti stood and examined his surroundings.

A fallen branch lay to his left, moss covered its rotting wood and flowers had sprouted from the edges of its coverage. Ti stepped over to it and dropped down placing his head in his hands. Sweat beaded down his forehead and he panted loudly as he gathered himself. "Hìtua sev kikọsilẹ ariwo Ileri?" He asked himself allowed hoping that it would help him figure out what he was truly doing. He knew she was here he could feel it. Something deep within his being told him she was waiting, somewhere in this forest she was awaiting his arrival. He just couldn't make sense of what he was feeling, he couldn't quite understand the pull, the guidance.

"Sev tioni jasi tä yika looking. Mänyän ies tọ sev ailewu èrè!" He muttered aloud as he pushed himself to his feet. Ti had never wanted something this badly before. It was slowly tearing him apart, breaking him down as he kept feeling like he had just missed her. He knew he was close and yet suddenly he would feel so far away. He looked up towards the sky noting how it was already passed midtrial. He had been running for a while, longer than it had felt. He wondered how far he had really come. Not expecting to run back he decided now was the time to head back. He stood and began to head back where he had come from. He examined the floor closely as he walked trying to follow his own footsteps, succeeding mostly.

As he walked he could feel the nagging returning to his head, the pull was calling him to turn around but he could not. He did not trust himself to go walking through a foreign wood in the dark. He grimaced as he suppressed the urges to turn around and keep searching. He began to wonder why he was struggling to find her, was she hiding from him, did he not deserve her yet, or was it something else. Maybe it was him, maybe he wasn't ready for her yet. The idea wasn't crazy, it would make sense that if he was not ready he might purposefully, or subconsciously, distort the signals and the pull he was feeling. The idea made him uncomfortable, what could make him view himself as unworthy. He sighed and kept walking covering ground faster than expected as he studied his own tracks. He would figure it out eventually he had no doubt there. How, however, was another question, one which he could not answer.

[Willow Woods] The search begins

Ti would return tomorrow. He stepped over a fallen branch as he decided, he had to keep searching. He knew he was in the right place the correct location all that was left was for him to find her. His familiar he knew she existed, she had come to him in his dreams. Each time she was waiting for him in a clearing, a clearing he was sure he had to find. When he did he would find her, and then he could rest and be comfortable. Until then he would have to deal with the constant nagging and the searching. Finding her was all he wanted right now, it was all he could think about. It was an obsession, an addiction, one that he couldn't kick.

Ti looked up from the ground and re evaluated his position, the forest was a little clearer here and he could see more of the sky. He looked for the sun it was well past its peak and Ti would have estimated it to be around 3 breaks past midtrial. The day had flown by and yet it seemed like he had found nothing. It made him feel rather useless, he was bemused by how little had really occurred. He believed he might have seen a brief glimpse of the panther for which he searched but she had disappeared as fast as she had arrived. The moment had been so brief Ti wondered if he had imagined it, he felt like he was going a little crazy.

He tried to think about something else, racking his mind for a new topic to take the place of this one. It was difficult but he managed to make himself think of home. He thought about his clearing and his small lean too. He missed them more than he would have imagined, and even they seemed rather incomplete without his familiar. Again thoughts of his familiar had managed to worm their way into the topic. He tried to ignore it and think of Desnind, he wondered how the city had managed with the shadow creatures since he had left and if they were recovering. His final thoughts drifted over to Moseke, he wondered if he would see her again. With all the many Sev'ryn that worshiped her and that prayed to her, he wondered if she would remember him, he hoped so. He could see the edge of the forest now he was so close, he heard it a sound behind him. He span around to see nothing, just an empty forest but a strange hum seemed to fill his head. A soft, sweet and calming woman's hum. Was it here was she willing him back? He didn't know and nor did he have the time to head back into the forest. He turned back around biting his lip as he forced himself to continue out of the forest. He would return tomorrow, he would not give up but for now he had to leave. He promised himself he would keep looking, tomorrow he would return tomorrow. The thought helped him to be comfortable with spending longer away from her. He was looking and that was enough, what else could he do but search. He left the forest in his wake heading back towards the village of Treth from which he had left late that morning. He left the forest behind him along with his familiar knowing he would look again tomorrow.
