Date TBD by Nightshade Eld
There was of course someone in Etzos which had not escaped the notice of the Aukari deserter. Her uncanny ability to get caught up in the dangerous situations which F'mos himself would have loved to avoid was quite strange. This may of course prove she had some skill, the effective complement to the deserter's own good luck but he felt eventually, trouble will catch up to her. However as she had been present in those situations and no doubt had a hand in his continued survival, F'mos felt it would only be right that he assisted her chances in the field even more. After all in the end, it could only end up helping him.
Of course it also helped quite a bit that despite the terrible outcome of the meeting Lizzie first met the Avriel, his charge had grown fond of Nightshade, despite the constant reminders of F'mos which forbade her from getting close to what he considered an undesirable element.
F'mos made good use of the relationship between the girl and the Avriel, the deer hide he had delivered to Night a season ago for her contribution to the Kettle in his hands once more. As Lizzie trusted her guardian without question, the Aukari only had to suggest he wanted to make something nice for he-their friend, a token of appreciation for their first meeting which helped with Flapjack's problem. Zida was the season. The season of Saoire, although Sirothelle did not have the belief of some sort of strange woman of gifts and spices like Lizzie of Etzos had.
With more than enough opportunities to recall his encounters with the Avriel in his efforts to study flight, and the same opportunities which applied to those times F'mos was able to observe Night, he believed he had found just the item which would help him with his goals. His status as a deserter although still unknown to others, was significantly helpful towards his efforts as without much belongings, those materials he had around his home which were not much to begin with easily linked up in his mind. If he succeeded, they would make up his finest work thus far.
His Kidnapper Spider silk rope he will regret once cut even if a little? Check.
The deer hide he was able to get a hold of from Night thanks to Lizzie's cooperation? Check.
Some choice cuts of the shrink ropes he bought and never thought would be used like this? Check.
The Iron Shell Bush seeds he had left over after he made his trump cards, which had better uses for him? Check.
Some ashes from the Heart of the World F'mos was able to source from those Etzori profiteers which hunted his kin? Check.
He hoped he had planned it all properly and these materials would be the only things he needed for this Saoire gift. If it all worked out, wonderful for both him and Nightshade. If not, well... F'mos would only be able to hope Nightshade never meant "fall or fly!" literally or that she would not easily trust him enough to rely on his gift too much. Although, any failure which may come as a result would only help the Aukari to further refine his craft.
The first step before F'mos could proceed was to have the item made. With Maylan's connections, his employers being one of the sources for Etzos' leatherworkers, the chef experienced no problems in his search for someone which could help make what he wanted. While there was difficulties in their discussions, eventually F'mos was able to finally settle on his plan. The cloak would be made but before the leatherworker could even start work, the Aukari wanted the other materials which would be used for his own preparations. It was the condition he had or, he would find someone else which had no difficulty with it.
Together with Lizzie, the thread which would be used was slowly weaved together with strands of the shrink ropes. A task which took many trials even with the help. By the time the pair had enough of the special thread, and a little extra in case the man F'mos had commissioned made a mistake, they had already gone through nearly half of a coil of his precious shrink rope. The Aukari already felt taxed by both effort and cost, his second thoughts prodded his mind as he went on with the next step at his chemist's kit, reluctant to continue when it would be much easier to obtain more conventional equipment.
However with his own selfish desires in mind, F'mos continued his work. Along with some of the more ordinary ingredients he easily obtained around Etzos which was mixed, blended and heated, the threads which he also twisted together with strands of silk rope was lathered with the ashes he collected a dipped into the substance which frothed as a result. One by one the threads were dipped in, for the fibres to bind together firmly and for the ashes which he was all too familiar with growing up to work its magic on them. Caught in between the thread and shrink rope no doubt it would affect the contractions which would happen, especially with the Kidnapper Spider rope and its non stick properties which F'mos was familiar with that melted over them.
That was the first stage of the item's creation done before F'mos handed the threads back to the leatherworker for work to begin. The Aukari ignored the man's surprised comments of the threads which only served to confirm he was on the right track. They went over the specifications which F'mos had discussed when he first came with his commission one more time and, only when the Aukari was satisfied that the man was sure of what he was to do, left to wait for the item to be completed. There was nothing else which he could do on his own.
