Name of Material: Faldrunium (http://emanuelemonaco.com/images/3D/wea ... _ingot.png)
Type of Material: Metal
How To Gather: Mining the ore
Skill Level/Skills Needed: High Expert to Master or Grand Master. Expert will learn from their mistakes.
Rarity: Extremely Rare
Durability: Common
Estimated Price: 200gn per Ingot (This can be changed)
Native to: Any mountain that changes from cold to hot with the seasons

Information: At ore level, this metal appears to be a red glowing ore that is radiating heat – enough to burn anyone who touches it and irritate any near it. This is why it will take Master Mining to obtain. However, this is only true in hot temperatures. As the climate turns cold, the ore cools down and softens. Expert Mining can hope to have some success at this time. This reversal of temperature effects then becomes true for the metal once it is harvested and smelted from the ore.

To smith this, it would take a smith of Master to Grand Master rank as the conditions must be perfect. Instead of heat melting this metal to be shaped, it requires cold conditions of around -15 degrees Celsius. This means that when used in any kind of tool or weapon, it can’t be used in cold conditions or it will turn soft and easy to lose shape. When it’s in temperatures above this, however, it radiates heat. This gives it the ability to cut through metal, or make blacksmithing tools that don’t need to be constantly reheated. When in the optimal conditions and forged at the best possible, this sword can reach temperatures of around 600 degrees Celsius – hence the red-hot appearance.

As such, the metal should be kept in a heat-proof container/sheath depending on the use. This also applies for the hilt of the blade, meaning it must be made of a heat proof material that also allows for ease of use. Naturally, when handling this metal, care must be taken at all times as not to burn oneself or their belongings. But it is equally important to keep the blade from cooling. While it will take several bits for the blade to begin to soften once exposed to cold temperatures; if the sheath does not seal the blade from the cold, it will already be soft when drawn.

A magically, or alchemically, modified sheath that seals the weapon from both heat and cold will greatly aid the optimum performance of any weapon fashioned from this metal.
