Name:Giant Scorpion

Quick Facts:Horse-sized scorpions that live in the desert
Height: 5-10’
Length: 5-10’
Weight: 400-800lbs
Native to: Hotlands
Locations: The Hotlands
Appearance: The giant scorpion is visually similar to their smaller cousins, with nearly a dozen more legs. The legs give the scorpion an odd, rolling gait, but it is deceptively fast.
Habitat: They live in the desert, far from civilization whenever possible. They prefer to avoid humans, however like most animals, will attack if provoked. They are territorial, and anyone riding across their lands is a challenge. Many raiding parties from Athart have disappeared as a result of these attacks.
They live in rocky cracks, able to compress themselves to fit through a space only a few feet wide. They sleep during the day and prowl at night, like most desert life. If they can’t return to their cave by first light, or if the immature ones cannot find a cave, they have been known to bury themselves shallowly under the sands.
Lifespan and Development: Reproduction is identical to regular scorpions. Their lives can last up to 20 arcs, however most rarely make it past 15. They are believed to have evolved from the same genetic strain that created the poko and the sand lion, however no one can be sure.
Diet: They eat rarely, one victim able to sustain them for seasons. They need no water, drawing whatever they need from their meals. Everything from small game such as rabbits to humans is fair game to these monsters. They often attack quickly, in a blur, stinging with their tail before retreating to a safe distance and waiting for it to take effect. They then drag the body somewhere safe before slowly eating it.
Temperament: They are very docile if found in the day, and most of those hunted down are killed during this time. During the night they are aloof, silent hunters across the dunes. Their territorial tendencies mean they are often alone, reducing the risk of attacks.
They dislike bad odds, and despite their need to defend their territory they are likely to abandon a fight if they see the odds move against them.
Abilities: It’s a massive frickin’ scorpion!
