The peace of the forest surrounded her. It welcomed her into its depths, and she lost herself in it gratefully. She was at home here in ways that she wasn't anywhere else. And she was safe.
"Moseke, thank you for giving me this sanctuary. I don't know what I would do without it." she murmured as she looked around.
The quiet beauty of the forest filled her. There was a surreal, dream like quality about it. In the distance, she could hear water running; a stream that she was quite familiar with. She often went when she wanted to gather certain herbs, like willow bark. Today, though, she just wanted to wander freely, and see what she found. Mostly, she just wanted to be free.
Time passed in that surreal way that somehow seemed as if it were standing still, and racing forwards all at once. The forest around her was unchanging, but an eternity could be passing beyond it, leaving Tei'serin behind. She found that she didn't mind in the slightest if that were the case. After a while, she found a plant unlike any she had ever seen before. It resembled a variety of mint that grew near her farm. But no kind of mint ever had leaves like this plant did. These leaves were heart shaped, and came in every color imaginable.
As she watched in amazement, the leaves shifted color, each color slowly fading into the next. Without knowing how she knew, Tei'serin knew that each different colored leaf could be used for a different purpose. Some would heal, while others would kill. The trick lay in figuring out what colored leaf would do what.
A sweet scent rose from the plant. The scent was somehow light, yet powerful at the same time. And although she couldn't quite place it, it smelled...comforting. Like a mother's embrace might smell if it had a scent.
Tei'serin wanted this herb. No...she needed it. She could quite happily spend the rest of her life studying the plant, and still never discover all of its uses. But she would have great fun doing it. So she knelt down beside the plant, and carefully began digging it up so that she could transplant it into her own garden. Her attention was so engrossed on her task that everything else seemed to fade away.
