Jasper sat quietly with a book on his lap. His brown eyes were skimming over the text as he moved from one page to the next. Occasionally he would pause and seem to reread a second before moving on. He found the book interesting as it was a simple travel guide to Scalvoris. Jasper knew that he really needed to have a basic understanding of the island, it’s geography and culture since they planned to stay there a while. It was while he was reading through the section on the basic history of the island that Dasjat climbed up his chair and sat down on the arm rest.

Jasper made a mental note of the spot on the page and then closed the book. He smiled and looked at the Tuwana. The two had become acquainted a couple arcs back when Jasper had helped look into the creep. The poor Tuwana had gone into hibernation but with the help of others they had brought them around learned much about the approaching disaster. Now he was a friend and companion who had decided to travel with Jasper.

“How can I help you Dasjat?” Jasper asked his common heavily accented by Scalvoris standards but fairly typical of his people.

“I am feeling restless.” Dasjat said and even as he sat there Jasper could see the small man fidgeting. “I want a project.”

Jasper nodded his head in understanding. Like any true Melrathian Dasjat need to have some type of work to do. Jasper was the Aesir and “leader” of the clan, Astra was running the home and stabilizing the base, Rewan was working on setting up a village forge and Bryil was hunting and gathering. Jasper tapped his chin and said “Do you have something in mind?”

“Nothing specific, I know we talked about setting doing some brewing but that will take a while and I feel that is something we all will do.” Jasper quietly listened for two reasons, one he was really sure how to respond to that as it was true and had been talked about but he also felt that Dasjat really had more on his mind. “I want to find something to really make my own.” The young human nodded his head, “But I feel that I need to find that. Would you be up for going into the forest. I think that would give the most options there.”

Jasper began to pack up his book as he said. “I would be happy to come with.” Dasjat climbed on to Jasper’s shoulder as he stood up and went to put his book back in the tent. As the two turned Jasper looked at the Tuwana. “Have you had a chance to get to know the local Tuwana yet.”

Dasjat shook his head. “I have talked to a few but haven’t really become acquainted. Just feel a bit shy around them.” Jasper nodded his head accepting that answer. He would support Dasjat how ever he wanted to handle that connection because regardless Jasper considered him part of the Ardiechy clan. They two walked towards the forest chatting quietly about ideas.

Kisaik was dressed in his wizard hat and robe, and had grown out his beard. Perhaps it was the influence of Winston, getting Kisaik into all sorts of crafting and rediscovering his passion for Alchemy. But he felt more like a wizardly tunawa lately than a knightly tunawa. That suited him fine, so he conjured his wizard hat, which was floppy and triangular at the cone, colored deep green, as his robes were a rich brown velvet, decorated by flowery vines and leaves.

He carried a small stick with him, that he’d picked up from the ground. Every wizard needed a good staff, afterall. “Lalia?” Kisaik spoke as he walked along, “I’ve been meaning to ask you… and since we’re exploring the Sweetwine, perhaps now is as good a time as any…”

“You might as well spill it then!” Said the owl-fairy. The small diri fluttered around him, on her feathery wings.

“Well… Since I’ve given Ataja over to the Sweetstone tree, I was wondering…”

“Wondering…” Lalia echoed.

“Wondering if you might join me in a spiritual pact, under my auspices as a Loshova?” Kisaik tilted his head upward, to where the fairyowl was flying around. She stopped to flutter in front of his face, crossing her arms with an amused look on her face.

“Really.” Her smirk turned into laughter, “Aren’t we already bonded?”

“Well… this would be another layer over that bond, you know?” Kisaik ventured to say, and he was becoming more determined to convince her that she should join up with him. “We’re friends, right? Let’s see how much more we can accomplish, under the canopy of Sweetwine, while joined thus! What do you say?”

“I say…” She said, “Sure.”

“Oh lovely! Very good.” Kisaik said, and then scratched his beard, somewhat nonplussed. “Err… I suppose now is a good time?” He said, and then closed his eyes, focusing on the ephemeral energies that surrounded him. He began swirling those ephemeral energies around him, until they formed a sort of vortex. Into this, Lalia gave a part of herself to the ephemeral mix, bonding herself further to Kisaik. It granted him more control and resistance versus the concepts of Sweetwine. It felt… even more amazing and refreshing than after he’d experienced being a Song-Forged the first time. “Wow! That was…”

Lalia quirked a brow, “What?”

“Er… very nice! Thank you so much Lalia! Let’s see what we can find out there, it’s a great big forest waiting for us…”

Having said this, they marched off in no particular direction. Kisaik had heard from a certain fairy, Wendy, that there was a grove where silks could be found, as well as silk worms that had longevity and could produce many times more silk than usual. It was rumored that the silk grown from them had alchemically attenuated properties. This intrigued the wizard Kisaik, and he kept a good eye out for them.

He almost didn’t realize that he’d stumbled into a scene, of a large man holding a book, and accompanied by none other than a tunawa!

Lalia was mostly silent for the moment, just flying beside Kisaik as he walked along. He lifted his hand to his mouth, and shouted lightly toward them, “Greetings!” He shouted through a roar portal, modulating the ether channeled into it to reduce its volume slightly. It worked to raise his volume, to make his voice at least slightly louder. “I say! Hello there you two!”

Kisaik waited to see if they would stop in their tracks, then lengthened his legs to quicken his pace. They grew into large stilt-like legs, about two feet long each, and that gave him enough stride to catch up in no time. Once he’d caught up, he shrunk back down to size. “I think I’ve seen you around, but have we been properly introduced, sirs?” His eyes floated upward to Jasper, rupture gleam showing in his eyes in green lights. Then he looked to the tunawa, and smiled, extending his free hand to shake. “I’m Mädärä Kisaik Ciuruọrun sọ Kufuata Karo Kashe Däuä, Tìfmi Härumtä sọ anou Faewun Samuwar, ọbavi sọ tẹlẹ, igbaradi sọ anou tabi ọludïbọ, Saoire's chieja kẹmïkälï kukïrï, Kuzïngätïä Kore, Akoko Nọọsi, qy’akot o'Creede, Yeztlik'o' Nïtọsï Ẹrẹkẹ. Pleased to make your acquaintances!”

Jasper would note the spiritual energy that seemed to pour profusely from Kisaik as he even walked. It appeared the spirits of the forest even seemed drawn to defer to him, as part of his power in Loshova.

The young Aesir and his tuwana friend were quietly talking about Dasjat might specifically be looking for when they both hear someone called to them. Jasper stopped and turned around, Dasjat by virtue of sitting on his shoulder also turning to look at the speaker. One of the Tuwana’s in the village was striding towards them. Jasper was sure at some point he had hear a name, but hadn’t actually meet him. Jasper was surprised when the Tuwana, dressed in robes and a hat, legs grew extremely long so that he could quickly get catch up to them. Jasper glanced at Dasjat, well as best he could, and saw the tuwana was focused on the his robed kinsmen.

With the long strides it took the other Tuwana a couple of moments to catch up with them. Jasper smiled at the tuwana and noticed a fairy following behind. This one appeared part owl, well not part but with owlish aspects to it. He studied it for a moment as he felt a sudden was of…. Jasper mentally groped for a definition. He could feel spiritual energy radiating from the Tuwana as he approached. It connected him at a level to the spirits around them.

The young man didn’t have much time to really focus on that, at least not now as the robed tuwana marked right forth with the conversation. Jasper actually found it refreshing, but he thought that way about most of the people here. He was used to the reserved nature of the city were people ‘Thought’ about what they would say and how they would say it. Not saying the people here were impolite actually they were very polite, but they also told you what they thought. Jasper nodded his head in agreement. “I believe I have seen you about as well.” Jasper noted the Ruptures gleam in the tuwana’s eyes. As the two meet each other’s gaze his own gleam manifested itself with blueish sparkles in his chocolate brown eyes. Jasper nodded his head as the list of names went on, and waited for them to complete. He opened his mouth to say his name was Jasper Ardiechy, but decided a full name deserved another full name. “Greetings.” He wasn’t prepared to try that whole name. “I am Jasper Lynond Rel Ardiechy, Son of Chief Lynond, Grandson of Chief Bryril, Descendent of Alvilida, Aesir to the Induks of Melrath.” Okay it wasn’t as long, but Jasper’s eyes twinkled with humor as he said it. He grinned then. “Please call me Jasper though.” He looked over side ways at Dasjat, the Tuwana looked onward eye slightly wide.

“I am Dasjat of the Hochojobon Ojogbon, but now a traveler of the world with Jasper here.” The Tuwana said bowing and he also held onto Jasper to keep from falling.

“How can we help you?” Jasper said. “We were going to explore some of the forest for a bit, it you want to join us.”

Lalia waved at Jasper and Dasjat, "And I'm Lalia. This one, you can call him Chip..." With that said, Lalia thwapped Kisaik playfully about the side of the head, then licking the ephemera that was absolutely steaming from him at this moment. It was a new development, this ephemeral emanation ability, but it was constant. Kisaik didn't mind. He was well equipped to deal with most spirits he encountered.

"Oh yes, of course! Call me Chip if it please you Jasper! That's a nice name. And Dasjat!" Kisaik smiled up at at them, as his legs shortened back to normal size, upon catching up to them. "Say, you mentioned being from Melrath. You haven't visited Soren's tavern the Ox's Bellow? He's a good friend of mine, in fact. I have many good memories of my time in Melrath."

"Yes it probably makes more sense to travel together if we're both venturing into the wood." Kisaik nodded to Jasper's suggestion, "Would you mind if I hop onto your shoulder for ease of conveyance? I can lengthen my legs for so long, but it makes me sugar hungry something fierce." That said, if Jasper agreed, Kisaik would plant a foot on the ground with a footstrike, and then hop up onto the tall human with his
prancer's spurs
on his feet.

"That's better! Nothing like riding on the shoulder of a tall person, eh Dasjat?"

Once they'd settled into the path ahead, Kisaik thought to comment on what they might do in the forest. "I hear there are worms here that can weave great swathes of silk. I know Lady Vega, my squire, is learning how to stitch a bit. Perhaps she'd appreciate some of that cloth for herself or we could search for worms to bring back to the settlement? It's surely help the village out to have a good source of such cloth."

That sounded like a good idea to Kisaik, but he'd wait to hear what Jasper and Dasjat thought of it before he turned his focus to that task. In the meantime, he thought to direct his next line of question toward the tunawa on the man's other shoulder. "So Dasjat, do you come from a tribe in Melrath? I had tried to find the Ojogbon in Melrath, but never succeeded. It must be quite well hidden! How did you and Jasper meet?"

The Aesir was amused but greeted the Fairy. “Nice to meet you Lalia.” He looked at Kisaik and nodded. “Ahh you must be Sir Chip I have heard about from others.” He said connecting the two. “Chip it is then.” He said in agreement. He was surprised by the Tuwnana’s next question. His eyebrows shot up with his surprise. “Actually yes I have been there. It has been a while since I was last there, but yes I have meet Soren.” Jasper said. “How long ago were you last in Melrath?”

Jasper nodded and said. “I don’t mind.” In response to Chip asking if he could ride on his shoulder. The Tuwana’s ability to just leap on to his shoulder surprised Jasper, and he was beginning to think he needed to stop being surprised by these things. He stood there until everyone was settled in and then continued on in the forest.

“I find it easier way to travel.” The Tuwana said. He paused and said. “Though I will say the shoulder width of the tall person in question can affect the comfort.”

Soon they walking through the forest and Chip mentioned hearing about worms whose cocoons could be crafted into cloth. Dasjat listened and Jasper nodded. “We could certainly see what we can find. I know Astra, my wife, would like to look at those as well.”

“I would actually be interested in bringing back some and seeing if I can raise them. I like creatures and worms like that might be better sized for someone my size.” He said to all of them. Jasper was aware that Dasjat like animals and such. He and Lanquin had gotten along well and never once had the Sleipnir thought the Tuwana was lunch. The young man could see the trouble with a tuwana trying to herd creatures that large.

“Well lets look for these worms.” Jasper said paused. “Which way?”

The Tuwana was quiet for a moment as he figured out his answer. “You are right the Ojogbon tree is well hidden. Sadly we were all affected by the creep.” There was a shudder “Many of us went into hibernation. Jasper helped bring me out of that hibernation.” Dasjat said simple there was more to the story but it was one of those that one didn’t like to dwell on. “I decided at this point to join with Jasper and see more of the world. I also wanted to help people like I was helped.” He explained as they Jasper continued farther into forest towards the waiting worms.

"Oh!" Kisaik said, when he heard that Jasper knew of Soren. "He's a good man, for sure, I would like to meet them again someday, actually. He let me name a drink... Have you ever tried the Sunny Sticky?"

Kisaik smiled at the memory, the drink that tasted spicey and of sand burning under a desert oasis. "It's been some time actually, several arcs by my measure." Kisaik informed Jasper. "I hope he's still thriving and doing well?"

Thus allowed to jump aboard Jasper's shoulder, Kisaik did so. And thus was there beside Dasjat, or on opposite shoulders as need be. But Jasper's shoulders were broad and strong enough to hold both of them on one. So he opted for sitting next to Dasjat, so he didn't have to speak over Jasper's head. "Your companion, Jasper, has broad enough shoulders to make for quite a comfortable ride, I must say. I've had worse!" Kisaik chuckled to himself responding to Dasjat's assessment of shoulder riding.

"Oh! Could I help in this, supposing we find any?" The knight asked of Dasjat, and Jasper. "I'm not an expert by any stretch, but I can keep animals healthy well enough. Perhaps we can set up a small colony near the Sweetstone tree? By the by, that's a great reason to travel the world, to return the help that was rendered to you. A most noble sentiment. I would extend a standing invitation to partake of the services and companionship of my tribe, should you wish it."

Kisaik was glad to have another tunawa about. Although his tribe was a great comfort to him, having an outlander tunawa with a different experience to most of them was invaluable to their community, or so Kisaik thought.

Sayinig that, Kisaik remembered that he had the ability to find these worms, however elusive they might be. "I can commune with the wilderness, and learn the location of any of these worms... I just need a moment of concentration, if you'll indulge me..."

So saying, Kisaik hopped down from Jasper's shoulder, and began touching the floor of the forest. He concentrated, and for a few moments appeared to do nothing other than breathing in and out, the scents of the forest.

"I sense some squirming things... Very isolated, it wouldn't be hard to uncover them. They are munching on the leaves over yonder!" Kisaik stated, pointing toward the bushes on the far end of the glade. "Let's make a steady approach, calmly. No need to alarm these poor creatures."

Kisaik, while the other two focused on retrieving the worms, would collect seeds and acorns of the trees nearby, so as to replicate the worms food source, in case there was something special about these plants in particular.

“I can’t say that I have tried that drink, sorry.” Jasper said with an apologetic smile. “I haven’t been to his place in over an arc, sorry. It was a distance from house in the city, and I often found myself during my free time with Astra as we were still courting at that time. Last time I saw him though he was doing well.”

Jasper listened to the conversation as the two Tuwana spoke about riding on shoulders. As the talked Jasper had a vague memory of when as a young boy he would ride of his father’s and more often on his grandfather’s shoulders. He adjust a bit as he thought about that since he wasn’t used to having two Tuwana’s on one shoulder, but it didn’t take much effort to adjust it. He grinned at their comment. “It has been many arcs, but when I was a child I loved riding on my grandfathers shoulders as he would check over the fields, but if you need a ride never hesitate to ask.” He said, though he was speaking forward so as not to suddenly turn and knock them off.

Dasjat shyly grinned. “I would appreciate the help raising them. I think others can help, but the big people would have such a harder time doing that then us smaller folks.” His eyes opened wide at the suggestion of setting up by the Sweetstone tree. “I hadn’t thought about that, but the gifts from that tree would help such a heard.” He said. “If you don’t mind having them there then I think trying for such a home would be great.”

Jasper stopped when Kisiak explained that he could help direct them. “I am happy to hear that.” The Aesir said sincerely, Jasper didn’t mind wandering around the forest, he liked the wilds, but he also liked not aimlessly wandering unless he intentionally wanted to. He stood for a moment until he received directions. The young man trusted his guide and followed his directions even as the two Tuwana spoke. “Thank you for the invite.” Dasjat said. “It is nice to be around Tuwana, though I do love my all of the Ardiechy’s, but sometime and with somethings only other Tuwana understand.” He patted Jaspers shoulder. “Nothing personal meant by that.”

“Make sense my friend.” Jasper said.

“I will uses your invitation.” Dasjat said. Jasper focused on where he was going as the two chatted. Soon enough they did come to a spot where there were could find them. Jasper nodded at Kisaik suggestion and moved at a slow steady pace so that they didn’t suddenly surprise the creatures. Jasper was also quiet and listened as the Tuwana gave him directions. The two climbed off his shoulders, Kisiak to look for seeds, and Dasjat to looked at the worms. Jasper quietly stood there and just enjoyed the air of the world around him, and the trees and wildlife. After some times just standing their Dasjat motioned for him. “Let us collect some leaves away from where they are currently eating and we can use that to tempt them to come with us.” The Tuwana said softly.

Jasper moved to a similar true that would allow him to collect leaves for future consumption with out disturbing the creatures. Following Dasjat instructions, he actually collect small branches with groups of leaves, they would stay fresher longer and could be put in water to help preserve them. Once Jasper had collect a good supply of these branches he returned and slipped them into bags. Jasper watched with interest as Dasjat tempted the worms. He only watched for an few minutes and then carefully wander around collecting the old shells. He wasn’t sure how useful they would be but he figured it was a place to start with.

“I feel that is enough to start our own flock.” Dasjat said as he inspected the bag with the leaves and worms. Jasper nodded, and the two stepped away.

“How goes your search Sir Chip?” Jasper asked as they finished.

"It's a very good drink, although many tall folk say it burned their tongues. It was strong stuff to be sure, but I grew thorns, it wasn't too too hot." Kisaik said with a nod. But then, their work was underway and the time for invitations and socializing was coming to an end. The two parties split up, Jasper with Dasjat, and Kisaik off to find the trees that the crawlers liked to munch upon.

It only took a few moments to locate the specific leaves that had been sampled, and once he had sampled the taste of their leave's flesh, the memory of how they could be grown, the seeds of those trees would be able to be sprouted instantly from his own hair.

Thus would they be able to make an entire grove of the trees for the Weavers to snack upon. It was a simple thing, really, just to pop the leaf in his mouth and have memorized the traits and specialness of the leaves. Perhaps he could even supercharge some worm food for the weaver's friends. "Yes I'm ready to head back Jasper!"

Said Kisaik. As a demonstration, he closed his eyes momentarily. Within moments, a flowering sprout began to unfurl from his hair, and then opened to reveal a nice little seed. He could repeat the process at need, but perhaps later. For now a demonstration for Jasper and Dasjaat's benefit were enough.

"Shall we head back then?"

So saying, Kisaik began blinking back toward the direction of the Sweetsong camp, expecting Jasper and Dasjat to follow along.

Notes: What a lovely little thread and what a lovely combo these two PCs make! I thoroughly enjoyed how you both used your NPCs, as well, and how they all interacted. It was cute seeing Jasper and Kisaik exchange their full names and titles, and to see how Kisaik reacted to another Tunawa. Seeing them reminisce a bit about melrath made me feel for jasper, especially. It was sweet seeing Kisaik extend an invitation to Dasjat to join his tribe and I look forward to seeing what might eventuate from that! Kiasaik was quite the clever little guy thinking about what the worms might need when transported, and Dasjat with his wisdom in how to lure the worms with leaves. One tiny thing, Jasper, is that 'minutes' on ST are actually 'bits', something I know you know but it slipped in this thread <3 I almost forgot about the Tunawa ability to sprout things they eat - nwhat an ingenious idea to replicate the worm's favourite food! Here's hoping the little worms do well at their new home once they get settled.
