[Scaltoth] The Fight Pit

The Fight Pit has laid for centuries in the middle of the Scaltoth, and acted as a purging ground for bad feelings between tribes. When on the verge of war or other irreconcilable differences between individuals, tribes, or entities, the various sides are encouraged to send either a proxy or offer their own selves to the ravages of The Fight Pit, so that the bad feelings may be purged and flow back toward the Death Spirit.

The Fight Pit itself is consisting of an ancient stone-work disc in the middle of a wooded area, where tribals and other spectators may take position to watch the proceeding fights. On this disc is where the fight is held. There, life's blood must be spilled so that Death Spirit is satisfied and the spiteful feelings that brought about the conflict might be returned to her bosom.

The fights held at the Fight Pit are not done for the sake of entertainment, although those watching on may very well enjoy them. They are held to avoid large-scale war between tribes and individuals, in the hopes that the satisfaction of one, and the show of force may dissuade the vanquished from seeking revenge.

Many enter, but one remains.

Rules and Purpose

  • In review requests, you must make explicit that you are using this location (complete with links and template used for your opponent). Typically only one person leaves the FIght Pit alive, so we would discourage using any established NPCs without moderator approval. Antagonists can be used on a limited basis, but we'd prefer you make use of the templates available here, or develop a new template for use below.
  • NPC Templates must follow all of the flavor npc rules, with the exception of skill totals.
  • Here, the purpose is to have a fun place to unleash in some gratuitous violence and fighting, for those who are inclined toward such threads, free of political and legal consequences.
  • The rules are simple, more than one combatant or beast enters the Fight Pit, and no less than one must die before exiting.
  • While the political and legal consequences for fights in the Fight Pit are negligible, the risk of injuries, trauma, and death are not. Please play to skill level when threading in this location and fighting appropriately leveled combatants.
  • You may make up details of the personality and identity of any NPC combatant you use here and they will be considered flavor npcs for the purposes of site rules. We only ask that you identify the template for a combatant that you're using, if not fighting beasts, so that skill levels can be referenced.

Personality: She is strictly impartial. The chief principle of Ethnel is that she simply hasn't a care what anyone else comes to the Fight Pit for, what they stand for, or what their grievance is. Her only care is that when two or more enter the Fight Pit, at least one must serve as tribute to Death and die in the fighting. That's not to say she is not averse to frivolity or conversation. But when it comes to partisan matters, she is strictly apolitical and unmoved. She rules the Fight Pit at the pleasure of all three tribes of Scaltoth, favoring none of them. And they would have it no other way, for to offend Ethnel Deathstroke is considered an offense to the daughter of Death itself.

Apart from her obvious intimidation factor, she maintains a very approachable demeanor, and is known to socialize with those coming from within the tribes as well as those outside of it. She's somewhat curious about those who come to Scaltoth as outsiders, but as ever maintains a personal distance from most of her interactions.

Backstory: Said to be born from the union of Shadow and Death itself, while she is considered indispensable to the survival and cultural well-being of the tribes, she is for most intents and purposes an outsider to all three of them.

Her past is shrouded in mystery, but what is known is that an Ethnel has been presiding over The Fight Pit for centuries. Whether this is the result of a succession of women by the same name and of the same line, or else because she is Mortalborn or something else entirely, is unknown.

Tunawa Springheel Blademaster.

Race/Species of Combatant: Tunawa (10" height typically)
Fighting Style Description: Eschewing metal weapons, these tunawa combatants will only use plant-based darts and razor-sharp thorny protrusions that they grow nearly instantly from their bodies, through their high meditation skill. They are very mobile for their size, and use that springy mobility to great effect evading blows and also propelling themselves as a living projectile. They've also been known to poison their thorns and darts.
Primary Skills (and their level): Meditation: Master, Athletics: Master, Combat: Blades (all sub specialties including thrown): Expert, Medicine (Poisons mostly): Expert, Endurance: Competent, Strength: Competent.
Strengths: Highly mobile, difficult to hit or get a bead on, resilient to bludgeons, blend in with surroundings, and poison weapons.
Weaknesses: Landing a solid slashing or piercing hit on the head or heart will almost certainly end them. They are small and not likely to overpower anyone.
