[Tradition] The Founding Stone

The Founding Stone

Developed by Lorogh
Background: Inspired by the story of Korlasir's founding by Raskalarn, the use of a black cornerstone has spread to become almost a ritualistic emulation of Raskalarn's turning the center for what might've been the devastation of the world, into a center of civilization. It's considered bad luck or at the very least disrespectful to choose any stone other than one that is black for the cornerstone for the groundbreaking of a new foundation for a building.
Details: As a sign of respect toward Raskalarn and commemoration of the founding of Korlasir, most buildings constructed of stone in the Empire are founded by a cornerstone of black granite or similarly black material that is tough enough to use as a founding stone. Primarily observed by engineers, masons, and sculptors, it's a way of celebrating the furtherence of civilization in the Eternal Empire. Some rather superstitious artisans hold that to use anything other than a black stone for the corner of a foundation, is to invite disaster.
Regional Specifics: If anything, this tradition is taken more seriously among the more perilous biomess of the Eternal Empire, or else their frontier regions. Specifically places such as the Volcanic Region, Winter Reach, and the Northern Hotlands, where it's believed that such a tradition can help promote the furtherence of the Eternal Empire's ideals of spreading the finer points of civilization.
