The Cerulean Wing
The second largest structure in the Viden Academy, the Cerulean Wing is a newly acquired building, donated by the wealthy Fahe family, when the previous Azure Wing was deemed to be too small to house the Institute for Technology. No longer fit for purpose, the old premises was converted to allow space for the Institute of Arts, rather than having that Institute share with those of Humanities and Languages.
As a donated building, the Cerulean Wing is near to the other Academy Buildings, but is not directly next door. About five minutes north of the main building, the Wing is a grand building; the inside has been renovated to reinforce the structure and make it appropriate for its new use. However the exterior has not been tampered with at all, in an effort to maintain the city’s beautiful architecture.
Two stories high, practical engineering rooms are found on the ground floor in seven large, open plan rooms. All manner of modern equipment is found here and much of the practical work occurring in these rooms is done in order to benefit the city first, and then Idalos as a whole. A smaller, eighth, room is reserved for a small contingent of trusted engineers, who work for the Facility of Retrospective Analysis.
On the first floor, students will find storage rooms for any materials they might need. These must be signed out with reason for use, so that materials are not wasted. Some materials are restricted to students with lesser qualifications. Also on this floor are all lecture theatres for theoretical teachings.
