Two Worlds Collide. (Tristan Verona)

Lapis reeled back in disgust at the words that came from Rends mouth. The words spit in the face of everything that Rend stood for, and he wasn’t known for his humour ether. The personality didn’t match Rend at all but it did match someone else. Lapis eyes narrowed and his body tensed up in rage but he quickly calmed himself down and played along. If this man was in Rends body it would be foolish to start a fight with him.

“Oh yah gifts..” Lapis smiled briefly before turning away to mask his grimace “Anything for to get you better Friend.”

Lapis’s spear seemed to have disagreed while Lapis wasn’t looking and it didn’t seem to be anywhere in sight. The Mer looked around for another weapon to bash or impale the king, but nothing was suitable. The rocks were too big to bash the Rend imposters head and there didn’t seem to be anything sharp.

Before Lapis could protest his hand was grabbed and pulled through the water towards a temple in the distance. The Dolphin groaned under his breath at first but then he though of the traps that usually guard old temples. Lapis grinned as he thought of the many ways he could bring the imposter to his end. Spikes could come from the sealing, the rooms could crush him or untold creatures could devour him while Lapis made his escape. All Lapis had to do was be careful and this idiot would be out of his life.

As they approached the temple, Lapis couldn’t sense any magic but the ruins were so otherworldly he knew there had to be magic around. Lapis swam in first with an eye out for anything that could be a trap. All there seemed to be was a hallway full of statures but Lapis suspected they weren’t ordinary ones.
“Aren’t these statues beautiful” Lapis slyly remarked “Landspawn are hideous creatures but they can do such lovely things with stone.”
Lapis hoped the Imposter would fall for the bait and get gutted by what ever trap was concealed in the statues.

Two Worlds Collide. (Tristan Verona)

The human turned Mer was unfortunately completely oblivious to the fact that Lapis wanted to hurt him and quite possibly kill him. He just pulled him through the water towards the temple excitedly. He wasn’t worried about traps either. There hadn’t been any traps in the temple in Andaris, so why should there be traps in this temple that looked almost exactly like it?

He was grateful for the fact that Lapis swam first though nevertheless. In his opinion it was a sign that the Mer cared about him – or rather about the creature that he had turned into. “The statues are very beautiful“, he agreed and swam up to one that looked like a beautiful woman whose body was barely covered by a piece of cloth – apart from the fact that she had three eyes. Tristan didn’t mind the additional eye though. It only made her more interesting. “I know a sculptor. His statues look almost exactly like that.“

He continued to admire the statues for a while before he grabbed Lapis‘ hand again and pulled him inside the temple, eager to explore some more. The floor of the temple was covered with marble tiles that had been polished to perfection so that you could see your own reflection in them. Tristan stopped there for a moment, looked and laughed out loud.

Columns lined the walls inside the temple as well, and torches were attached to them. They were burning brightly and filled the temple with a pleasant glow which didn’t bother Tristan at all. He was so used to unusual things happening to him by now that he didn’t question the presence of flames at the bottom of the ocean. In any case, one could always explain it with magic.

On a black altar in the center of the temple lay an orb that glowed in a most beautiful shade of blue. The false Mer’s eyes widened, and then he swam right towards it, eager to touch it and take it. “Come!“ he called out to Lapis. “There’s the treasure! Let’s steal it before somebody else does!“

Lapis did his best to hid the disappointment when the imposter wasn’t killed by some kind of trap. The mer was certain there would be other opportunities, he just had to keep his large black eyes open and vigilant.

When Rends imposter mentioned knowing a sculptor, it was clear to Lapis that he wasn’t even trying to pretend.
“oh yes, I know how much you love sculpture.” In truth Rend might have enjoyed the art but the Shark certainly didn’t show it and likely wouldn’t have known a sculptor. Out of the pair lapis was more into the arts and while he had met many Mer artists, Lapis had yet to meet a sculptor.

Before Lapis knew it he was being dragged by the landspawn in sharks clothing towards some kind of treasure. Lapis wanted to rip the intruding arm off but he just couldn’t bring himself to cause any harm to even a poor imitation of his friend.

Lapis would be lying if he even tried to imply that the glowing orb didn’t interest him. It was strange that such a clear magical orb was sitting in a temple unprotected. There had to be some kind of weighted mechanism that would tigger if the item was taken.
“It does look appealing.”
Lapis couldn’t help but place a webbed finger on the orb to hopefully get a taste of the power this artifact held and see if it was worth the risk.
In a flash Lapis disappeared from the dream without a trace and soon after the dream had ended.
