Kolya Lyosha
Gennadiya's Father

Gennadiya hadn’t really expected her question to her father to get this out of hand. Having returned to Rharne with the change of season she had heard about the Mummer Ball and had then asked her father if he wanted to go with her. He had agreed and then asked about what she would be wearing and one thing had lead to another and next thing she knew was here walking towards the Augustin Boutique.

Actually the choice to go to Faith’s shop had been the one part of the conversation she had one. Genna felt she had a nice serviceable dress for parties such as this but her father (who had given her the previous dress.) Once upon a time she would have had to have a new dress for each part but that Genna had learned much and mostly how not to be selfish. Her father though only had her and while he approved of Genna’s not wasting clothing. He still felt she needed to occasionally update her wardrobe and had always liked giving his daughters gifts. So a discussion had followed and a compromise reached.

The Lysorian woman walked next to her father holding his arm as she took the chance to show him more of their new home in Rharne. Genna was actually very pleased to see her father and that he had moved to Rharne with her. He had been a wonderful father who despite her short comings had on many occasions forgiven her, and despite it all still cared for his stubborn daughter.

Soon they found themselves at front of the shop. Koyla opened the door and the two stepped in, and in that moment Genna felt like she was a young woman again as she began to behold the many different options. Part of that little girl she had buried began to push to the surface and she looked at her father who was smiling proudly at her. “So what color did you want to do?” He asked.

“I like white.” Genna said.

“Your last one was white. How about blue or pink?” He said as the looked at the different options. Genna pursed her lips in thought and slowly nodded her head.

Lesley

It was getting colder outside, and with the cold, the abundant harvest, and the brave defenders in Storm's Edge holding the line so far, there was much to celebrate. So as Lesley came into the shoppe, after Gennadiya, a cold breeze filtered in through the doorway. He looked very serene and calm as he entered, his eyes distant, as if not seeing the here and now, although his body made the motions through the shoppe, looking at some fine suits. One particular suit took his fancy, an ivory-colored one with ice-blue trim.

When he overheard Gennadiya's father's suggestion, and her insistence on white, he smiled, and lifted his voice just loud enough for them to hear, "White really would seem your color, my lady." Was all he ventured, and then went silent, continuing to observe the goods on display at the store.

He continued to browse, and went from one article to the next, looking but not yet touching the fabric.

Finally, having seemed to decide on an outfit, he took the tag off of it, and brought it to the counter. He moved slowly, seeming to give way for Gennadiya and her father if they wished to be served first. "Apologies, you were here first, my friends."

He therefore waited a respectful distance from both of them, while waiting for the two to approach the counter, or continue to browse. He looked very ordinary to either one of them, regardless of his overly polite manners. He would continue to wait, until they made their move.

It was always a delight to Faith when someone came into the shop; after all every purchase here funded the charities she was so inexorably linked with. While that was true, that each person was welcome here and a welcome sight, when Gennadiya walked in, Faith beamed in delight. She knew her colleague, of course, but to Faith it was more than that. Genna was with someone - an older man and Faith looked at him and back to Genna and she thought that there was more than a slight family resemblance. However, she didn't assume and never would, so, she stepped forward and smiled. "Gennadiya, how lovely to see you. Hello," she said to the man with Genna and she offered her hand to shake. As she found out that this was Gennadiya's father, Faith's smile widened. "You must be incredibly proud," she said quietly. "Your daughter is one of the most talented medic I have ever met." To Genna, then, she turned and looked at her with a considered expression.

Faith glanced at the other person in the store, and she smiled to him. "Are you needing help also, sir?" Once he had answered, she would help him, but as she did, she moved over to a rail and pulled out a white dressImage It was unusual in design, intricate in its pattern and there were accents of silver on it which shifted and changed colour. "I can make you something specific for you, but this is something which I thought you'd like to see the possibility for accent fabric as part of the design. With white - or any colour - it can be very effective." She smiled to the man in the shop, then, and nodded her head. "And, I agree. I think white suits her very well indeed."

Looking between the three of them, Faith waited to see what they thought and said. She hoped that Gennadiya's father liked what his daughter chose here; it was important for Genna's sake.

"Will you be wanting an outfit, sir?" she asked to both Genna's father and the other customer in the shop. Then, she waited to see what her customers - all three of them - thought.

Kolya Lyosha
Gennadiya's Father

Genna and her father both looked back as the door opened behind them to allow a other customer into the room. A cold breeze raced around the room causing Genna to shiver briefly before the door closed and the cold breeze melted away in the heat of the shop. The two Lyosha nodded and smiled in that way one is friendly to a stranger. Then Faith approached them and offered welcome.

Gennadiya greeted her friend and fellow healer. “It is good to see you as well.” Gennadiya looked over at her father and introduced him “Faith this is my Father, Kolya Lyosha. Father this is Faith Augustin a friend and fellow healer.” Her father recognized the name from letters home so also knew a few of the titles that weren’t being mentioned.

He smiled at Faith and shook her hand in greeting. “I am very pleased to hear that.” He glanced at his daughter with a smile. Then began the process of selecting a dress. Gennadiya listened as her father’s suggestions. Then the other customer suggested that white would really look good on her. The Lysorian woman really did agree with that. She smiled showing that she welcome and grateful for the advice. It was just then that Faith also approached with a stunning dress of white and silver that was far more bold then Genna had worn in arcs.

The young woman often chose white because it flattered her coloring. Dark colors just washed her out but white drew out the pinks in her skin and yellow in her eyes. So it presented her at her best and she liked the color as well. The daringness of the dress did give her pause not because she didn’t like, actually the opposite but because her father was here and going with her. Well and fathers could’ve funny clothing like that.

Kolya’s expression was a masterpiece of messages. He was genuinely smiling and his expression showed encouragement that he would back her. There was something in his eyes thought like an internal battle. He did speak first, “you would look stunning in something like that.” He said and laughter, “and can admit that white would be good on you.”

Genna looked at the dress her eyes sparkling. She was 26 and could where what she wanted and had actually been doing that, but she hadn’t really ventured into the darring. Before though she had only been focused on being a great healer. Now she was wanting other things.

“Faith I think it is gorgeous.” Her eyes danced. She paused and looked at the man who had already offered his thoughts on her dress color. ”What do you think?” She was curious but his thoughts weren’t really a deciding factor.

After listening Genna looked at her father and said. “I am happy with that dress. My father will also need a suite for the Ball. Especially since his suit is like three decades old.” She said giving her father a wink and Faith a smile.

They looked at dresses, and Faith considered carefully as she looked at Gennadiya and her father. When Genna declared that this was the dress, Faith smiled in pleasure. "I'm pleased," she said softly. "More than pleased. Now, how about I make the silver have the effect of molten silver? Shifting shades to look almost liquid? A subtle effect, I think, would be best. We don't want to detract from the beauty wearing the dress, but instead only to enhance and emphasise." Depending on what Gennadiya wanted, Faith would be very happy to oblige. She did her best for each customer, of course, but Gennadiya was a colleague and a friend and, more than that, Faith was of the opinion that Genna's abilities and actions had been under-estimated and under-appreciated in Rharne. Faith smiled at Genna's assertion that her father needed a suit because of the age of his current outfits; it was intriguing to her to watch father and daughter together. Would, one trial, Padraig and Rose have a conversation like this in a shop like this one?

Faith pushed that thought out of her head and then, she got on with finding things for Gennadiya's father. Sharp clothing, classical and elegant but with a feeling of uniqueness, she thought. "I'm thinking, sir, something like this?" she said, pulling a jacketImage and watching to see what his thoughts were. They could, also, she pointed out, do it in whiteImage or any shade or colour. Subtle embroidery, small details, those things were her thought, but she went through the process of finding out what he liked, what he did not. Working through until they got to the right one. Of course, if he wanted it, she explained, she could add the liquid-silver-like fabric on his outfit, too.

Faith took all the time they needed and made detailed notes. While Gennadiya's father was in the dressing room, with one of the male staff measuring him, Faith spoke to Gennadiya quietly. "It seems most bizarre to say it here, but we never seem to get the chance to speak about anything other than the right-in-front-of-us at work. I had something to ask you, and I'd like you to think about it." Faith smiled slightly and explained. "You're one of the most talented medics I've ever met and I don't know what I'd do without you here. I was wondering how you'd feel about becoming the Head of the Order in Rharne?" Faith had always just "done" that as part of her role as the overall leader of the Order of the Adunih, but it had always been her intention to pass it on when she found someone who could do it well.

And now she had. Leaning forward, she squeezed Genna's hand. "You don't need to answer right away, take whatever time you need. But Rharne needs to see the wonders you've done, and I can think of no one more deserving." Faith knew, in her heart, that this was right.

It was time.

Kolya Lyosha
Gennadiya's Father

Genna listened as Fatih presented the options for the dress’s accents. In her minds eyes she was picturing the way that Faith described it. Pretty and subtle. Genna’s only real vanity was her hair, but she was aware that she was pretty though she didn’t do anything to push that on others, but she understood that subtle was better then and in your face. She slowly nodded her head as the image came into focus. “I like that. You are right it will be very pretty without being overwhelming.” Then the conversation went into the more difficult subject. If people thought Genna self-effacing or reserved they would understand where she had learned, it after watching her father. Though compared to her she wasn’t reserved at all.

Genna looked at both of the outfits suggested to her father, and she could already see that he liked them but they weren’t wall flower enough for him. Genna wasn’t going to have him deny himself just because he was a widower. Genna was positive that his mother would have been appalled. So she played her trump card. “Mother would have loved you in either of these.” He looked at her quickly, but she had to keep up the momentum. “I think either would also make good contrast to my outfit, and it have coordinated clothing like that since I was fourteen.” Genna watched her win as he very seriously began to look. She could see some of the artist come out again, he was an excellent jewery and artist but for to long that was the only way it came out.

Genna was please when he said he liked the black on and slipped away to try it on. So focused on her father had she been that it took a moment fore her to pull her self into what Faith was saying. Genna quickly caught on and by the time the meet of the conversation was going she was focused. The young woman gave a soft laugh of agreement that often when they were together they had some immediately staring them in the face that had to be resolved. Genna’s normally calm expression became a surprised expression. Not overly exaggerated, that wasn’t her way, but for anyone who knew her, like Faith did, she was surprised as a blush came to her cheeks.

Genna didn’t immediately answer but her expression was very thoughtful as she took into consideration what Faith said. The Lysorian woman could really see that there was a good argument for Faith extracting herself from the direct leadership of Rharne. There was enough to do was head of the Order without included the day to day of a location as large as Rharne. Gennadiya had worked hard to become a gold cloak, but that had to do with her love of learning and healing, not a desire to obtain a position like this. She also understood that would make her a good candidate, and she could organize. Genna.

She looked Faith in the eyes and taking her hands, she smiled. “If you feel that I can help the Order best by serving Rharne as local head, then I would be honored to accept.” Genna felt a small tear of appreciation at the corner of her eye. Just then her father stepped out of the dressing room, which a smile on his face. A smile Genna hadn’t seen in a while. It was appearing that Rharne had been good for both of them.

“I definitely like the black one.” Said his calm tenor voice. Then he smiled at his daughter and then looked at Faith. “Thank you.”

Holding on to Genna's hand, Faith smiled as she squeezed it in return. The young woman was so serious, always, so calm and collected and Faith knew first hand that Genna was not only an excellent medic, but also a very capable organiser. She had, to Faith's mind, the perfect temperament for this line of work, and she'd demonstrated it time and again. When Genna accepted, Faith leaned forward and hugged her; it wasn't something Faith did often, she rarely initiated physical contact with people. A hang over from her time as a slave, or just her natural tendency, the young woman had no idea. But, in this moment, she followed her instincts. "You'll be great," she said.

When Genna's father came out of the changing room, Faith was pleased to see the smile on his face. With a glance between father and daughter, she knew that Genna was happy and Faith nodded. "I think that's a good choice, sir," she said softly. "And, we can make sure that the two outfits compliment each other. The pattern on your jacket can be mirrored in a subtle embroidery on Gennadiya's dress, for example. It certainly is do-able, if you'd like that?" Faith often wondered what it must be like to have parents and she had a very earnest and genuine desire to make sure that Genna's father was happy.

Faith knew that, when it came down to it, she could trust Gennadiya as a friend. There were many people who knew Faith, who wanted things from her. But there were very few who she knew she could rely on, could call friend. She cherished the people in that small group - and Genna was one of them. She smiled at Gennadiya's father, and considered him carefully. "We could, in fact, use the same subtle embroidery in your jacket with the same colour shifting, almost liquid-like effect?"

She was very happy to do that and, when it came down to it she wanted them both to be happy with how they looked, to feel comfortable in their own clothes and to know that the other was feeling the same - so, she would work on details and continue to do so until they were both as happy as they could be. For Genna, she asked "Would you like a shawl or cloak to go with that?" The young woman might want to keep away the chill of the air, after all. Then, after those questions were dealt with, the final (she thought) thing to check was. "And would you like to consider what jewellery or accessories either of you will be wearing? Are there any adjustments which need to be made, in light of that?" If Genna wanted any ribbon or such for her hair which matched aspects of the dress, Faith would be more than happy to provide.

That all asked, she waited to see what they both felt. When they were done, she'd go from there.

Kolya Lyosha
Gennadiya's Father

Gennadiya smiled and was a little surprised as Faith hugged her after the agreement. Genna returned the hug with no hesitation. The young woman honestly felt a bit nervous about taking on the job, she believed she could do it, Genna wasn’t one who subscribed to false modesty, but Faith was loved by the other members in a way that it would be hard to fill. Genna though knew that she did love her fellow healers as siblings, and knew it would take work but she could do that. Genna pushed all of those thoughts aside to be looked over this evening. Right now was dress shopping and her father would give her that look if she spent the rest of it thinking about this.

Genna would have been flattered if she had completely understood how Faith viewed friends. Genna her self was friendly and loving with others but it was hard for others to become like family to her. Her fellow healer though had found the way to her heart and she was viewed like a sister to the Lysorian woman. Her father had returned then, and they returned to the conversation about the clothing.

Genna titled her head and looked at her father as Faith suggested that they could have mirrored patterns. The older man thought for a moment and shook his head. “While I would love to wear exactly matching out fits, I don’t want any young men to think I am your husband.” Genna blinked at her fathers rather forward statement. Then she gave a chuckle.

“Father anyone who can’t tell we are father and daughter well.” Genna chuckled again left it at that statement. He turned to Faith. “Lets have the embroidery be similar with the shimmering you described but not perfectly matching.” She said with a humorous look at her father. The conversation continued with additional questions. “I think a shawl would look very nice with the dress.” She said and then looked over at her father on the question on jewelry. “My father is a retired jeweler. He will handle that part.” Genna paused.

“I think something simple would be best.” He looked over at Faith. “Genna has told me about your shop. While I am retired now if you need anything in jewelry department let me know and I will see if I can help.”

Genna smiled at her dad and leaned against him. Before she turned back and thought for a moment. “I think that will do.” She then smiled with a excited bounce in her body language. “Thank you Faith.”

What a great little shopping thread! And even a cameo from who we now know to be Ziell! Good times all around!

Genna - I love reading the interactions between the character and her father. He's a wonderfully written npc in my opinion. Very fleshed out and vibrant. Genna is gracious as always, eager to learn new things. I enjoyed learning that she likes the color white for clothing. Genna is always thinking and wondering, which is a great thing in my opinion.

Faith - It's been a while since I've read Faith - I miss her! Faith is supportive and sincere, but does like to keep some thoughts to herself! I enjoy how she uses the shopping interactions as opportunities to further her neverending 'to-do' list. Talking to Genna about becoming the head of Order in Rharne over a bit of dress shopping and color coordination? No problem!

I found the interaction between the pcs to be well-written and lovely. It's obvious they have a great deal of trust in each other - that comes through clearly in the writing. Beautiful piece!
