Catalina stands at 6ft tall. She has dark tanned skin, brown eyes (which change to green and, sometimes, a deep violet) and an expression which tells you that this woman believes that she could kill you with a glance. Everything about her is confident, from her stature to her posture and her gaze. She tends to wear thigh-high black leather boots, skin tight trousers, puffy blouses under tight and form-fitting corsets and frock coats and she has a real penchant for hats. Catalina loves a good hat, it truly sets off an outfit. Invariably, no matter where she is, she will be carrying two swords at least, and what other weapons might be hidden around her person is a mystery that she would be very happy to dissuade anyone from trying to solve.
Catarina is fond of jewelry and will tend to wear a lot of it. She has a tattoo on her left breast of a dove in flight, on her ankle of a small lily flower and on her inside wrist there is a small tattoo of an eye. Those are the tattoos which are visible and, whilst there are more, she shows them only to the select few. Which, chances are, don't include anyone who asks to see. Catalina is graceful in her movements and she positively exudes both confident and sultry. She wears make up and her clothing is tight, accentuating her busty figure. She tends to wear her long hair loose, because it allows her, or so she will say, to wear a hat at just the right jaunty angle. In truth, she is a woman who knows that she is attractive and utilises it to it's fullest, all the while making sure that she remains very obviously someone who will kick ass.
Twice, if needed.
Catalina is proud. She is proud of who she is and what she stands for. She speaks with a thick accent and everything that she does exudes confidence and pride. She has a very strong sense of personal honour, although she couldn't care two hoots about law or legality of her actions. She has a strong sense of being superior because she lives on the water; she is not bound to a house in the way that landlubbers are, she sees them all as slaves to a set of laws and bound to the ground. She, and her people, are truly free.
Social norms are important to Catalina, in so much that she believes that those in power set the standards for the behaviour of others. That she will, one trial, be in charge and captain her own ship is an absolute truth to her, and she works towards it. This might mean making alliances and forming friendships now, in order to reap the rewards of such later. She has no problem with that, as long as she is the one who is owed something by others, she tries to never owe anyone anything; she hates being in debt, either fiscal or action.
Catalina has an appropriate name; she is cat-like in her movements and has an inherent grace about her. Her nickname is 'Raynarde', meaning 'Fox'. This is earned from her attitude which has been present since as far back as she can remember. She is small, sleek, graceful and deadly ~ just like her nickname suggests. She has a rich and varied vocabulary, at least one third of which would make a lady blush and she has no problem with using her looks or attitude to get others to do what she wants, when she wants it. She is a thrill seeker and she will speak to anyone, no matter who they are; not least because she is one hundred percent sure that she is fundamentally better than them.
Catalina was born to two loving parents who adored her. She had an idyllic, free ranged childhood where she roamed free, spent more time on the water than ever she did on land and where she did not doubt that she was loved. There is no great tragedy in her background, nothing that scarred her for life and no pits of despair. Catalina is a fundamentally optimistic individual and she has had very strong foundations on which to build. Her parents, Belle'ryn and Max'Oriq, taught her and her four brothers the art of seafaring.
This leads to an important point in the makeup of Catalina. She is the youngest child to doting parents, and she has four elder brothers who are very protective of their little sister. She grew up being adored (her parents had more or less given up on ever having a girl) and that has very much shaped the woman that she has become. Her childhood was spent clambering up ropes and masts, learning the swords and the importance of always having at least three daggers hidden about your person; fundamentally, she spent a childhood where she played and learnt in equal measure and she has no regrets whatsoever. However, she has just undergone the rite of passage that all of her people undertake at 20 arcs and she has decided that she has to branch out on her own. She knows that her family are, and will always be, there if she needs them as a safety net, but Catalina has to prove herself in her own right. One trial, she will bring her fleet in to meet the fleet of her father, she is quite sure. Because one trial they will rule the seas between them.
Her brothers are also out on the seas, and she has not seen any of her family since her rite of passage; but she was delighted that they all made the effort to be with her on that trial. Now, she is working on the ship of one of the Pirate Lords, ready to take on the world.
Having been one of the crew on board the ship of the Pirate King, she had disappeared. She reappears in Cylus, 722.
