This section is for players to post about things unrelated to the Standing Trials roleplay. You may talk about anything from world issues, to your personal life, to funny things you found on the internet. You are free to use this forum to express yourself as a player and not as your actual character. You can also post in other players journals so long as they give you permission to. Please remember not to post anything relating to pornography or anything with extensive use of profanity.
Every once in a while, I'm reminded that roleplaying includes the word “play”.
It sounds like a ridiculous thing to say, but here’s the truth: I love game mechanics and earning points and setting goals based on numbers and achievements. That’s one of the reasons Standing Trials attracted me in the first place (in addition to its great setting and community). ST has an excellent skill/knowledge system and provides writers with near-immediate feedback and points. It gives us a sense of progression and accomplishment.
That said, it’s easy to become so focused on the points and the plot goals and the feedback that we can forget that it’s all meant to be fun. That sometimes not receiving points is totally okay.
I bring this up in light of Djinn’s Halloween Event. I’d like to give him a shout-out, because it is such a fun idea. Write an ode to someone else’s character? How cool!
It’s out of the box for ST since there was no promise of rewards for participating, but it’s also such a gift. What a wonderful thing it is to be able to tell someone how much you admire them and their character by writing a fanfic story for them. I had so much fun writing the first post to my Halloween Event thread as Vincent D’Ordyn. The post isn’t great or even a true reflection of Vincent (his writer is such a good sport <3), but it was a blast to create.
I write this mostly as a reminder to myself: messing around, being silly, and doing something just because it makes you laugh is an excellent use of time. And really, I was a bit surprised to see only a few folks participate. I definitely enjoyed myself more than I thought I would, and I think the event pushed me out of my comfort zone. So thanks, Djinn, for an awesome idea. Looking forward to more cool event like this, and to more players participating in future.

"i do not want to have you
to fill the empty parts of me
i want to be full on my own
i want to be so complete
i could light a whole city
and then
i want to have you
cause the two of us combined
could set it on fire" rupi kaur.
Offline life has been overflowing with goodness recently, which means I've been a bit distracted from writing. To my thread partners & especially Vincent: thank you for your patience with me, as always.

This is a friendly heads up to my thread partners that I'm in the middle of a crazy week and am about to hit a busy few months from a work & social perspective. All that to say, apologies if I'm scarce(r than usual).
Site-wise, my priority is posting to my current threads and getting those promised threads started. I'll try to make replies as quickly as possible - the challenge is just making sure my brain stays unmelted during workdays and un-hungover during weekends.
Thanks for your understanding & have a great weekend, y'all.
