BASICS
Height: 6 ft
Weight: 170lbs
Build: Average
Eyes: Green
Hair: Dark brown
Skin: Fair
Vito's form is one marked from nearly head to toe in scars. His silver-dusted skin is pale enough on its own, and paler still beside lines and lines of raised white marks. It does not tan easily, and if given the appropriate conditions, Vito will simply burn before he tans or freckles. His face is practically the only area of his body left unharmed and unscarred, as the marks of his former faith have crept even up his neck. His ears are pointed, and high cheekbones descend into soft cheeks, curved into his neck by a well-defined jaw and a pointed chin.
When in a neutral, calm state of mind, Vito's eyes are a deep green, with the littlest flecks of brown and gold. They are largely unrevealing of his thoughts, as he does not tend to react very strongly to most things. A glower does occasionally cross Vito's gaze and darken his expression, but for the most part, he appears quite calm.
Eye colors
Colors most commonly shift between his natural green, hazel, and red.
Green: Neutral, calm, or otherwise unaffected.
Hazel: Overwhelmed, irritated, or some other kind of emotional response.
Red: Focused, or a stronger emotional response.
His hair is a dark brown that appears black until it catches the sunlight. It begins to subtly wave and flip when it is allowed to grow to his shoulders, but more often than not, it is kept short on the sides and only slightly longer on top. It is fine and silky and does not retain shape well.
Vito carries himself with a confidence easily taken for arrogance. Shoulders back, chin lifted, steps sure - he does not draw unnecessary attention to himself, but he does not seem to mind being at the center of it either. One would be hard-pressed to find him wearing anything other than black or red, even while he sleeps, and he tends to prefer a more modest style.
Restoration and maintenance of peace, order, and faith.
Nothing matters more to Vito Rossau. He cares not for matters unconcerned with somehow achieving this goal. Devoted and sure in his beliefs, Vito navigates his life with the moral map that is the will of the Theocratum. Although he does not possess such blind faith as to follow all orders without question, he holds no opinions higher than those of his fellow Tribunals and superiors. He has a strong sense of self-respect, and does not appreciate being told that he is wrong or that he has made a mistake, but values the truth enough to handle things decently well.
Vito is puritanical and harsh, that much is clear to almost anyone that meets him - but less immediately obvious is his hypocritical nature. He is good at keeping this aspect of himself hidden, for the most part, but on occasion (or if he is under any considerable amount of stress) it becomes much more difficult for him to endure without giving himself away. Vito requires, from everyone besides his superiors, total respect. He requires full attention, and compliance, and abidance of the strictest moral code. From himself…
...well, things are different in the shadows of the bloodlights.
He does not tolerate any kind of nonsense or other distraction, and his sense of humor is nonexistent. Vito, in general, does not enjoy other people. They are imperfect, and unworthy of salvation, but even so, he is devoted to helping them achieve it. He does not easily make friends, nor does he care to do so, and any feelings of attraction he might feel are always drowned out by his disgust. Despite this, Vito is an incredibly envious soul - the mere fact that he cannot have something is enough to make him want it.

Pre-play
Vito was saved from a life of sure destruction. A life irredeemable, unworthy, impure. If the Theocratum had not intervened, he knows well that he would have been worth nothing more than the dirt beneath his feet. He would have been poor. He would have been dead. He would have been worse - a heretic.
He does not know much of his parents, but he does not wish to. The details are simple: a male and a female biqaj, both residents of Shanty, and too poor to feed themselves, let alone their children. Vito knows that they were of weak enough will to resort to crime and heresy, and that they deserved the punishments they received; he knows that he had four siblings, three older and one younger, that all died of neglect before he was old enough himself to remember them. He knows that the Theocratum delivered him from the same fate. He knows this, because they’ve told him this. Everything else is unnecessary.
At only three arcs of age, Vito’s parents (after previous punishments for smaller crimes) were found guilty of Immortal worship and subsequently given the final, divine punishment of Anathema. The last surviving child of his family’s sordid line, Vito was found tugging at the fabric of a Herald’s dark garb, while his parents burned to death on the pyre. The Tribunals that found him and took him into the care of the Theocratum never mentioned much of that night, aside from the fact that they did not see him cry.
In fact, they never did - for Vito, throughout his life, has always been too thankful for his salvation to waste time on tears for heretics. As he got older, he developed an affinity for calling out the wrongdoings and undesirable traits of others, and over time, this enjoyment proved itself more useful than mere snobbish self-fulfillment. In becoming a Tribunal, Vito found his true calling in the tracking, investigating, and oftentimes subsequent torturing of heretics. Never one to shy from the shedding of blood (always in the name of He Who Bleeds, of course), he took to the culling re-education of lost souls like blood to a chapel’s floor.
He has spent his entire life since then under the watchful eye of the Theocratum, never straying far from the people who saved him, and although he has a great many ambitions of his own… none of them involve ever abandoning Quacia to a world without the Scarlet Belief.
Starter quest
Being a Tribunal isn't all fun and games. Sometimes it requires a great deal of patience and lost time. One of the senior Tribunals has tasked Vito with the esteemed task of an undercover stake-out. Expected to dress like a Heap, Vito is sent undercover to Lair to scout the illicit dens, make himself unnoticeable, and act as witness to any heretical activities from certain people. He isn't told who, exactly, but just to keep an eye out. Vito will be allowed to partake in any heresy and/or illicit activities so as to blend in, but he will be expected to atone for these sins through proportional blood prayer under the watchful eye of his superior Herald.
While on the task, one night, Vito is surprised to witness high-ranking guild members from the Guild of Hospitality. In following them, he discovers that the leaders of the Guild of Hospitality and the Guild of Agriculture worship Immortals (the greatest sin of all). Not just any Immortal, but Moseke from the northern city of Desnind. He has witnessed it, and maybe he even has proof...
...but what will Vito do with this knowledge?
