I've been lurking around ST for a few days now, trying to absorb everything there is to absorb (read: pussy-footing around) and finally decided to bite the bullet. I have a rough concept for a character, though some details will need to be ironed out and flanges ground down to make sure everything fits nicely.
Mhmm. Lots of table top, a bit of PbP.Have you roleplayed before? If so, where? If you have, how long have you been roleplaying for?
Do you have any nicknames you go by? Is there a name you prefer people to call you?
Chris, Christopher, Hey You, Jerk. Whatever really.
That's a bit tough to say, just about every character I've made occupies a small nook in my heart. Arguably my favorite characters are ones that force me to adopt worldviews, beliefs, ability or ideas which are drastically different than my own. What are some of your most favorite characters you've made? They can be from MMORPGs, Video Games, etc.
Benny Ford is probably up there. Developed for a table top Post Apoc setting, he was a mechanic. Shy, annoyingly kind, deeply empathetic, his severe intellectual disability and physical deformity in no way hampered the shear beauty of his unyielding love for all people. Also he could throw cars and melt metal with his bare hands. Darwin's World was crazy.
Or Sani, one of the few female characters I've played (I need to change that sometime). The daughter of a cult leader dedicated to a very destructive and powerful entity (think Lovecraftian lich dragon). After her family attempted to sacrifice her to the being, she fled the cults influence only to quite literally wash up at her saviors feet. Eventually she would grow to fall in love with the woman that saved her life, the two living a peaceful life until her family again found her. After the death of her wife, in grief, she turned to necromancy in vain attempt of resurrect her dead wife. And though she would never able to fully resurrect the woman, she was able to bind 'pieces' of her soul into her raven familiar (or so she thought). I never got much further than the back story though, as the setting (an MMO) wasn't very conducive to a role playing environment. At any rate, thinking about Sani makes dust suddenly attracted to my eyeballs.
Truth be told, I could prolly go on like this until the stars went out. Suffice it to say, I enjoy characters which are, in some way, deeply flawed. Either via exterior influence or internal. Anti-hero's are common for me, as well as the mentally ill, or tragic stories. Fairly often characters will be built with certain concepts or ideas in mind. Central themes from which everything else hangs. The rampant over-valuing of intelligence at the cost of everything else (Benny), obsession and the human ability to not recognize self deception (Sani).
Yes! And Yes!Is there anything you're excited about when it comes to the Standing Trials RP?
Anything that you're concerned with?
I'm excited about interacting with some of the very cool characters I've been reading about, as well as the potential of my ideas (hopefully) leaving an enriching mark upon ST.
As for concerns, oh my yes. Excluding my tendency to be both a bit long winded and shy (go figure out how that works), I'm kind of nervous that the character concept that is rattling around in my noggin wont be well received.
In the realm of writing and or roleplaying? I've been told I'm a competent writer, though I'm the epitome of self doubt, heh. One thing I do know I'm good with is world building. I can very quickly come up with very detailed settings. Though I tend to be fettered by realism the shear size of a project.Do you consider yourself skilled in something (Art for example), if so, what is it?
Otherwise I pretty much suck at everything.
Arm-chair philosophy? Does that count?Do you have a favorite hobby besides Rping?
My DNA? Unless the CIA has already started cloning me for the impending war with the Mole Men from Planet X! DAMN YOU WALT DISNEY! DAMN YOU!What is something unique about you?
Seriously though, by definition I am unique. A special snowflake. Just like everyone else.
