A Chilly Reunion [Svariella's Stone]

Navyri please

The cities and villages of Melrath are as varied and diverse as they come. The capital of Raelia is the the jewel of this western kingdom, playing host to a merchants, artisans, Aesir priests, as well as a cut throat political landscape dominated by the nobles of Raelia. To the south in the depths of the Myrkvior Forest lies Melrath's second largest, and oldest city, Fensalir. Here people have learned to live alongside spirits and the natural world by maintaining their loyalty to traditions laid down the first Melrathi. To the east lies the small fishing village of Noatun, and to the western mountains rests the Mer city of Verimeer, the brewing town of Alivilda and the alpine village Vormund.

Thought she was going back? Brent frowned at the comment. He had made a specific point to her that he wasn’t going to tell the authorities. Had she forgotten? Regardless, she looked relieved and he was thankful for that. Brent smiled at the way she looked at the trinket. It was just something small, but she seemed to like it. Maybe she would sleep better at night or good spirits would gather at her bed. As his gaze lingered over her, he was reminded that sleep was what she needed most. But despite her rumpled feathers and swollen lip, she still looked beautiful.

“Just one more thing before I go.”

He took two steps towards her and bent to where she was sitting. In a fluid motion he cupped her cheek and kissed her tender cracked lips. He didn’t linger though, and was soon moving away from the bed. When he looked back, his cheeks were flushed but there was a slight yet confident smile on his face.

“I look forward to seeing you again, Navyri.”

As he made his way towards the door, he almost forgot about the mirror the winged lady had mentioned. It was an odd sort of request but maybe some sort of exchange for the dreamcatcher? He backtracked slightly and looked for the healer.

“Navyri mentioned you had a small mirror?” Brent asked.

“Oh yes,” Yvonne replied as she held up the hand mirror she had found. “But I thought it was for…”

For a moment, they both looked at each other in confusion. Brent coughed awkwardly then added, “Maybe she wants me to trim my whiskers?”

It wasn’t the best display of humour but it broke the ice enough for the healer to place the mirror in his offered hand. Brent gave a half-shrug and glanced back at Navyri’s bed.

“You take good care of her, and treat her well.” Yvonne said in a rather maternal tone.

Brent merely gave a simple nod in response and left the small building, into the cold of Cylus.

Comments: This was a very emotional and well-written thread.

I couldn’t help but smirk a little when Brent greeted Navyri with the words, “You look like shit!” I wonder how soon after her release/escape from Niflheim this thread takes place. You described her mental and physical state after her stay in Niflheim quite well. She’s so angry, but she has a right to be!

Brent seems different from the usual Melrathi. I wonder what made him like that. His inner struggle – he cares about his people, but also about Navyri – and his anger – at the Ragnari and at himself for failing to protect her – is obvious. When Navyri told him that she was blessed by Delroth, and he told her that he needed to get some air, I wasn’t sure what would happen.

It seems as if he might come to accept that part of her as well though. He even gave her a gift!

I already look forward to your next thread. I want to see how this continues and what their next meeting will be like!

Enjoy your rewards!

P.S.: You forgot to add the link to your thread to the review request. I found it by looking through your posts though.
