Re: Talryn
With this in mind, I've made some significant changes.

Re: Talryn
Hey Rei – Let’s jump back into this, shall we?
I’m getting a bit lost with the concept of this dev. You have that they are ‘extremely aggressive’ towards threats but otherwise curious and affectionate. That seems very unlikely. Wild animals that are inwardly aggressive wouldn’t be affectionate like that, in my opinion. I think you still need to close the gap a bit on if its aggressive or not.
I’m concerned about the inclusion of children here as well. Please see my notes at the end.
Also remember you are dev’ing one animal, not a pack. Pack dynamics shouldn’t come into the picture when assessing threat.
All in all, progress is being made on this dev, but I feel perhaps it would be constructive to strip it down to the bare minimum and work from there. I’ve had to do that many times on devs and it works really well. Ask yourself, what makes this animal different from the others? Work up from there.
Please remember that you always have the option to step away from a dev for a bit. I’m happy to move it into limbo if you want some time to consider the options, and I probably would recommend it. Read the feedback and consider which direction you want to go.
I think that perhaps we need to strike the comments regarding the intelligence. It’s easy enough to say that they are intelligent and leave it at that. Anything beyond that is superfluous.Talryn are social creatures within their own packs. They have the intelligence of a grey parrot (or a 2-3 arc old child). They are extremely aggressive towards anything they see as a threat (anything that is attacking them), but aside from that, they are very curious and affectionate. At times, they have been known to adopt abandoned young of other species (not ones they see as prey) and try to raise it themselves (to varying degrees of success). And if they find a lost child in the woods, they will try to raise them as well.
Due to their intelligence, their social nature, and their curiosity about other creatures, they are fairly easy to domesticate. If taken from the wild when young and raised as pets, they will be loyal to and very affectionate towards the person/people who raised them. As adults, it is possible to domesticate one by befriending it - which is also easy to do due to their curious nature as long as you don't show any type of aggression towards them.
Trained Talryn make good pets/companions, hunting partners, and guard animals. But they do best in pairs or groups due to their social nature. And they may try to herd children to safety if they feel the children are in danger - "danger" is relative to a Talryn and can mean anything from keeping a child from getting too close to a pond/stream, or to a horse of they feel the horse is a threat to the child, etc. This can be both a benefit, and a nuisance.

I think the focus on intelligence here is a bit misleading. Generally, these types of animals are destructive if they aren’t given lots of exercise and mental stimulation, but it doesn’t have anything to do with their intelligence. It’s more their working instinct than anything.Abilities: 1) Their intelligence (that of a grey parrot)
Weaknesses: Their intelligence means that you have to keep them occupied and entertained or they will find their own entertainment.
I feel like this is too complicated to work effectively. Please streamline for the people trying to follow this guide. They don’t need conditionals. Also remember you are dev’ing one animal, not a pack. Pack dynamics shouldn’t come into the picture when assessing threat.Capturing It
-- Master if you show aggression towards them while trying to capture them, Expert if you try to outsmart them, and Competent if you lure them in by making them curious about you
Danger
-- Very High if you show any aggression towards them (anything they would see as an attack), Moderate in the wild unless they are curious about you, in which case it is Low, Low with domesticated Talryn

I am managing to confuse myself with this dev now, so I think you're right about me needing to take a step back from it for a while.
