Pondering Thoughts (Tio)

Ashan 2nd, 720

Dorik was seated up against a sheer rock face as the winds ripped around Immortal's Tongue. He'd spent the better part of the morning trying to find this spot. It was not special, in that it was not part of any of the many shrines here, but it was important. To Dorik at least. For in this spot, and not one foot further in any direction, the winds did not seem to blow. He was not sure why this was the case, nor did he really care. But it was what he had been looking for and now that he was seated, he could enjoy it.

He pulled out his pipe, filling it with Pilar's Tea. He'd come here several days ago, spending his daytimes here on the island, spending his evenings in the taverns of Almund, and spending his nights with Diana. Well, some of his nights. She didn't seem to mind so much that he came in smelling of other women, so long as she got her share too. He had come looking for something more, something from Unity, perhaps something from Mastes and Kata, or from someone else. But he'd not quite yet found any of what he sought. So he would stay.

He lit the tea in his pipe, taking a few drags so as to spread the embers evenly, letting it burn away the outer casings first. Once the smoke shifted from a grey hue to a softer, more transparent coloring, he began to take the smoke in. It relaxed him, not that he needed to be relaxed, but he did find himself quickly growing more comfortable sitting here on the rock, overlooking the waters.

Speaking to Mastes now, or rather to the winds that supposedly might carry his words to his patron, "Your mark is fun and all, definitely keeping me entertained, but I'm not sure what it is you need done by me. I'm not exactly the devoted type, you know this much, certainly not a priest. Do you want more followers? More people to enjoy our many vices? Blood sacrifices? I don't worship, but I do work. What work do you need done?"

Re: Pondering Thoughts (Tio)

"I'm pretty sure this is illegal."

"Nonsense." Tio replied, waving a hand dismissively. "I am the Devout after all. In a sense you could say I own this island. Besides, the whole point of this place is to be somewhere with shrines dedicated to every Immortal right? Well I'm an Immortal, so it's only fair that I get my own shrine too."

Morgana pulled a face and looked like she wanted to refute him, but there was a kind of logic to Tio's argument that was, technically, correct. The two of them were climbing a path up the Immortal's Tongue that led up to a special little spot on the island, both holding packs stuffed with bits of wood and building materials to build a special little shrine to Tio. The particular spot he had in mind to build it at was an odd little place; a tiny patch that the wind for some reason did not blow through. There was a strange atmosphere about the place, a tinge of weirdness about the stillness of the air, that Tio felt a certain affinity with.

As they got closer to the spot the sound of a voice nearby reached their ears, and when the spot came into view Tio was surprised to find another man sitting there relaxing by the rock face talking to himself. He was a middle-aged man with the creased, leathery face of someone who'd had a tough life, and pointed ears that betrayed a biqaj heritage. He caught the tail end of the man's words, something about followers and worship, and pieced together that this guy was probably a pilgrim of some kind here seeking answers from the divine.

"Try picking a fight with someone they don't like." He called out, shooting the man a grin as they emerged into the clearing. He slung his pack off his shoulders and set it down in the middle of the spot. "Sorry, couldn't help but overhead you searching for the will of the gods. Nine out of ten times just beat up someone they don't like and it'll impress them. Immortals are a lot like crime bosses in that regard." He knelt down and began to pull bits and pieces out of the pack. "Please don't mind us, we've just got a bit of construction work to do and then we'll be out of your hair."
