Vhalar 2, Arc 719
On the 2nd of Vhalar, Devin Thorn, thief, conman extraordinaire and priest of Delroth, walked into the Medicine House, dressed in an outfit that was much less flashy and colourful than what he usually wore, black pants, a white shirt and a thin white coat. There was no hat on his head either. He looked, to all intents and purposes, like a very nice and normal young man that didn’t have any ulterior motives, and he carried a black doctor’s case in his right hand.
Almost immediately after he had entered the foyer, gawking a bit because the architecture was quite different than what he was used to – he was in some sort of oversized treehouse, for Delroth’s sake! – a pretty young Sev’ryn nurse approached him, smiling at him as she did so. “Good trial, sir, and welcome to the Olọravu Slosneppe. What may I do for you? Do you need treatment?” she asked. “One of our medicine women will see you soon! Follow me to one of the treatment rooms, please!”
“No!” Devin told her in no uncertain terms.
“What, no?” the nurse asked, a bit miffed.
“I won’t follow you to one of the treatment rooms”, Devin informed her. “I’m not a patient. I’m a doctor, and I’m here to apply for a job. I know all about that Northern Medicine business that you are so interested in.” He opened his doctor’s case and let her take a look at his tools that he’d stolen from a hospital before he’d left Scalvoris and that were an important part of his disguise.
“I can even do surgery”, he claimed.
“Oh …” the nurse made. “Oh … in that case, let me get one of the medicine women. They’ll be quite excited to hear that. We’ve been looking to expand our services to Northern Medicine for a while. Wait here, I’ll be right back!” she told him, and off she went.
Devin did of course not wait right here. Instead, he wandered around the foyer and inspected everything – because he was only applying for a job so that he would be able to rob those people more easily later on. He needed a lot of money, for himself and for Delroth!
