"Oh, I am sure."
Besides the king and himself both being residents of Rynmere, there was nothing else. From what he's heard, Cassander Renault is not exactly the friendliest king either and since he is aware of this, he wants nothing to do with him. Daliane has to admit though, the young king is handsome and if he were anything but the king, he would be more than likely to flirt with him. "Maybe I'll try to connect with him." Daliane lied to his friend. "I'm sure they do. I know my father is not an evil man but I am not sure about my other relatives and other houses."
He remembers the awkward conversations he would have with his father about his uncles and the barons of other houses. Many think the root of all evil is money. My boy, that is not true. One's own status and where they stand in life, that is what all wrongdoing can be traced back to. Especially in Rynmere. There are people living in poverty who would kill to be in your position, and those in your position will do the same to be in mine. This could go on forever Daliane could hear his father's voice in his head. The conversations always ended the same way and although the conversation may be the same, he still does not understand what his father means.
"Is it because she is not a member of any of the Great Houses?" He leaned against the table with the sculpture, an expression on his face that showed just how serious the question was to him. "I overheard my grandfather once talking about the queen. I hear many nobles talking about her and many make prejudice statements." He took a deep breath and sighed before continuing. "The first queen was both a Venora and a Andaris, her children became Warricks and finally, a few generations later, every house is intertwined with the throne." He laced his fingers together to represent what he was saying. "But someone realized, down the line, that if we continued this cycle, the Royal bloodline will become tainted and very confusing. So he or she, I cannot remember who was the first to marry someone that was not a noble, decided to marry what many consider a lowborn or foreigner." Daliane remembers learning from his father that when things like this happens, it causes many problems. Massacres happened when kings or queens married a foreigner. "Sometimes I wonder if the queen is really evil and if she is a terrible person, I wonder if the lords and ladies drove her to be such a terrible person with their judgement?"
He was off topic and when he realize that he was, Daliane apologized and laughed. "Sorry." He wasted the poor man's time with his rambling. "Sometimes, I turn an entire conversation around and say too much of what I am thinking." He laughed some more and pressed a hand against his stomach.
Tristan had a wonderful laugh himself, Daliane did not mind that the lord was laughing at him too. "She'll come back. This place is a mess without her." He was joking but there was some truth to that. Bianca may not seem like the most important person of House Venora, everything she did had always been discreet and quiet. The deals, the marriages she arranged and even advice she gave to those having trouble in bed, all go unnoticed. But these things kept the place going and Venoras stronger than ever. "I can't wait to see her!"
As Tristan talked, Daliane gave a slight nod of his head after every sentence to assure him that he was listening. When Tristan was done speaking, Daliane spoke up."Your grandmother and aunts-- they all kept me close. You see, my purpose of being here as a child was to learn from the duchess and your aunts. So most of my time was spent with women and less with the men." He shook his head to the question. "Bianca is a true follower of Zanik and she's taught me much about pleasing the same sex but she's never taken me to that place. I was a child! And the brothel means a lot to her. The Monastery is where those who are committed the Sacred Seven go to worship and to Bianca, the brothel is almost equivalent to that. It is where she confesses her sins and commits more in the name of Zanik." He wiggled his eyebrows and winked. Bianca believed in the Sacred Seven, but she believed in Zanik even more. It was the Immortal who changed her life around and made her who she is today.
"I hope they do show up." The hand that was placed on his stomach moved up toward his chest, going over his heart. He could feel his mark grow icy at the mentioning of Immortals. He could not help but to think of his encounter with Ziell. Would all encounters with Immortals be like that? If Zanik or Vri appeared, he would like to ask them that question. "I've seen drawings of the two in books and I wonder if those drawings portray them well. If so, they're handsome."
Looking at Summer Nights, who was still leaning against his leg, he laughed. "Summer is lazy. She would never listen." The pig was spoiled rotten and she enjoyed doing absolutely nothing. "I could try dancing, maybe? I used to dance a lot when I was little." He did not dance too much anymore. In fact, he could not recall the last time he danced. "I want to do something that will not require too much strength and time."
