Mentor - Sorcerer Vasily Alexas
It had taken him a long time, but he had managed to overcome the blow to his heart and mind after grieving for an extended period of time. However, he had no intention to forgive nor forget anything or anyone related to the death of his Lady. With vengeance as his gospel, he did his best to carve out a crude plan for how to avenge the woman that had given her all for someone the rest of the world had condemned as worthless from birth. Without any real satisfying concrete results, he plotted the downfall of the anonymous mage, on his own. It wasn't until he realized there were no shortcuts to this end, that he decided to take it step by step, working out a general plan in his mind. A path to backtrack to whenever he lost his way, nothing more and nothing less. The first steps he had to take on this blood for blood crusade, was to find out who and where this mage was. To achieve this, he had decided upon casting aside his own well-being and becoming one of 'them' after obtaining intel that most mages were de-facto stringed puppets of an organisation called The Seekers. Easier said than done, as it appeared they were a shady group that didn't exactly have application forms to fill in and apply to join. Just getting their name had taken him many Arcs, and even that was because as good as there were there was always someone who talked to a love one, or who tried to explain their absence. Most of these likely came to a gruesome end, but Dmitri had only had to find one, and he'd continued with dogged persistence until he did.
It took him almost another Arc to hash out and execute a plan to get noticed by one of their members. Tracing rumors and whispers about Seekers had given him lackluster to no results, so instead of being on the hunt for them, he crafted a ploy to let them find him. He started his very own rumor, a rumor about a youngster with latent powers of an unbelievable magnitude. Of course this was a complete lie, and one he might even have lost his life over, but it was his best shot at getting noticed while avoiding repercussions from non-members since it was apparent to all on meeting this streetrat, that he could not be the young masterful wizard of the rumors. The plan was flawed in a plethora of ways, but it was the best he could come up with at the time. After quite a while, he was found.
It was almost a missed chance, and now that he thinks back upon those days, it was very possible there were other Sorcerers before Vasily Alexis that had come to him only to be dismissed as snooping hounds just trying to find the 'prophesied' boy for the thrill of it. It was only because of Vasily's conduit that Dmitri had found out his current master was a sorcerer to begin with. A seemingly useless and cracked branch of wood with its crystal hidden within, used as a walking cane, was his conduit at the time. After a short interrogation by the kind, old man who was seemingly recovering from a wounded leg since he was limping around with a walking stick...Dmitri acted out his usual theatrics of being a common young street hoodlum, throwing less than polite words around, wondering out loud how someone could be dumb enough to confuse him with a 'silver spoon-fed bookworm'. But after hearing the apologies and seeing the saddened look on the old man, mostly atrophied compassion reared its head, he felt bad for him. Dmitri offered to replace his walking stick with a spare crutch he had kept, an item used by The Lady when she was still alive. Vasily kindly rejected the offer, Dmitri brushed it aside as a refusal out of politeness and took hold of the conduit to replace it with the crutch. At which moment Vasily lashed out in full force and cast his own mask aside, old, frail, kind man gone in a flash to reveal a face that brimmed with confidence, a fearless ice-cold gaze and aura that screamed out he was not to be messed with.
Upon seeing the true nature of the man, Dmitri's light went on and to the surprise of the intimidating Vasily, a huge grin appeared on Dmitri's excited face! After weaseling his way out of why he had lied, Vasily took him in as a Neophyte and taught him the basics of the basics. Slowly but surely, Dmitri dug his way deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole and gained the trust of Vasily as a faithful and obedient apprentice, ready to execute his master's will, treating his word like law.
