Abathor grew up a poor boy. He had no purpose of life direction until he met a magician. Abathor was merely a ward to the magician. His childhood was mostly spent taking notes for the magician and earning a wage to help feed his family. Through thick and thin Abathor was there to do whatever the mage required.

Abathor must have been forty when he was given the choice to become a mage. A man to inherit the business his master had run for his entire life. Abathor felt obligated to take on the mantle and was initiated into empathy and attunement. From then on, he dedicated his time to running to business to bring in enough money to care for his master.

The empathy initiation went like this - Abathor's master put his spark in his emotional threads and put it into Abathor's mind. Abathor was very scared but he wanted to please his master. His master put the emotions and spark very deep inside him and he became an empath.

The attumenemt initiation went like this - Abathor's master sang a song that pulled his spark to give a piece into Abathor's soul. Abathor did not hear his master sing before so it was strange. He thought it was terrible but not because he was a bad singer. Abathor takes hours to process the song and his mind is taken apart and put together again violently. Abathor survived barely.

When Abathor's master finally passed, he took it hard. His emotions went wild and he cause permanent emotional damage to those around him. He was out of his mind and the court recognized that he did not deserve execution. Having been a good member of society all his life, he begged them to lock him up so he could never hurt anyone again. They gave him a decade long prison sentence and during this time he learned to control his magic. Now he lives in Rharne and tries to fit in with a changed world.
