Re: The Shoppe Q&A

OKay,
I can only imagine how much blood, sweat and tears went into this.
And I hate the thought that I may come off as nit-picking, but I'm still not clear on something.

I don't want to read too much into either rule, but here goes.
Before even the "General Rules" section, it says: "If your PC's Wealth Tier is lower than that of the item, it means that to have access to the item, you must purchase it with your Wealth Points." This seems clear and wide-open, but I am wondering if there is a cut-off point where a PC is leaping too many tiers ahead of their own to make this purchase. There are several instances of the comment: "You may make these purchases as many times as you wish, as long as you have the Wealth Points to afford it." But this does not say that it applies to any tier, however far removed from the PC's own.

In the Mount section, the Tier Restrictions quickly state that: "Tier 1 - Tier 4 do not have access to Exotic mounts unless approved in the PSF or awarded by a Prophet." Okay, plain enough. But the first entry in the table right after that says that "Tier 1 - Tier 4 are not allowed to choose a mount." That seems more restrictive than the first statement. Or does it just mean they don't START with one through their tier access, but could BUY one with their wp? If so, could it even be a Tier 10 excellent+ exotic if they had the wp?

Then, I'm also wondering if the per-building costs are the same for underground facilities. All the buildings given as examples are above-ground types.
And, I see that standard furnishings, of tier-related quality, come with the buildings. For an underground lab, I assume the shelves, chairs, tables, lamps and such will be included. But is the actual lab equipment itself assumed, or is it going to be considered "Additional Furnishings"?

I realize that "Household Items" has not been released yet. Is this kind of thing going to be included, or will it be simpler just to buy a couple of Chemistry Kits when Skill Kits are released?

Okay so the way the Shoppe works is there are items your PC gets for free depending on their Wealth Tier (included in the Items Available Per Tier. collapsible per section), and then there are items that your PC must purchase using WP (included in the Purchasing Additional Items. collapsible per section). Generally there are two reasons to use WP to purchase items; 1.) if a PC is too low of a Wealth Tier to have that item for free, and 2.) if a PC wants to buy extra/additional items beyond those which are given to them for free in their Wealth Tier.

Certain sections (I want to say the Metals section, Seafaring, and Mounts?) restrict access to what a PC is able to purchase using WP, depending on their Wealth Tier. So, in Mounts, if it says that Tier 1 - Tier 4 cannot have Exotic Mounts, it means that if you are Tier 1 - Tier 4, you are not allowed to purchase an Exotic Mount using WP (though you may still be awarded one through RP, request permission for one in the PSF, or purchase one in the Point Bank). Tier 1 - Tier 4 are also not allowed to START, like you said, with a mount of any type for free, though they may purchase a Non-Exotic Mount at any point with their WP (or have one through other means-- their Starter Pack for example). Typically, Non-Exotic Mounts are horses; however, there are plans for there to be regional Shoppes, of a sort, which means that there may be other mounts that are considered Non-Exotic in the future, depending on where your PC is located physically in the game.

EDIT: Forgot to say, but unless there are specific restrictions detailed in the section, there are generally no restrictions on which Wealth Tier can buy what quality of item. A Tier 1 PC, if they can afford it, can buy the highest quality of items as freely as anyone else; it all depends on if a player wants to spend more or less WP.

Just to keep things simple, I think it's fair to assume that any sort of building would cost the same, no matter its style or type. Underground buildings would cost the same as those aboveground; building a house would cost the same as building a laboratory. The purpose of having furnishings and household items included with the purchase of a building is to not get caught up in having to buy a bunch of additional stuff when making such a purchase. Whatever sort of building you purchase, no matter what you're using it for, assume that you have the items you need for that building to be functional. If it's a home, it's dishes and bedding and candles. If it's a lab, it's beakers and stoves and whatever the heck you need in a lab. ^_^

If you purchase a lower Tier building (so a building that only has a couple of small rooms), typically those come with lower-quality or less stuff. If you want to upgrade your stuff, you can buy additional furnishings / household items at the highest quality for a relatively low price (I think it's 2 WP for 8 small rooms).

Skill Kits / Crafting Materials haven't yet been released, but they would certainly include, as well, items and materials specific to your PC's needs. You could purchase Skill Kits / Crafting Materials in addition to having purchased a building to use as a lab; however, the way things are set up, I don't believe it's strictly necessary to do so.

And sorry again for taking so long to respond!

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

No problem. :D

Thanks for the mount clarification. That was exactly it. I didn't know if it meant low tiers couldn't get a standard mount at all, or if they could still purchase one. That mention of exotic mounts made me uncertain because it excluded low tiers entirely.
So no starting with any mount at tiers 1 - 4, but non-exotics can at least still be purchased.

As for furnishings, Linika already has her chemistry kit from earlier, and I figure her furnishings to be standard fare. I will just say that I can honestly understand if some cut-off point on what furnishings are assumed is enforced at some point in the future. That sounds like an envelope that will end up being pushed eventually.

And cool on the "One price for surface or underground construction" answer. That definitely simplifies things.

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

I don't hear tools in the shop thread.
I could have just missed them, stumbled over them without missing them, gotten lost some where roung the spices and wandered through Salvic and missed them completely, but since they are kind of important to my character, and I don't want to just post my out-dated section of the CS, I'm kind of asking for help...
again.
:D
So, in short, where are the tools?
Nevermind, I've realized a possible error on my part, yes, again.

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

Sorry for taking a while to reply!

Unfortunately, a sloop cannot be claimed as an heirloom item. If you would like to have a sloop upon start, you can either

1. Start with a seafarer's pack. This will make you a wilderness-type PC, rather than wage-earning.
2. Purchase a sloop additionally, with WP.

Even though you might end up purchasing your sloop with Wealth Points OOC [out of character], know that you are able to use whatever flavor you like to explain why your PC has those items IC [in character]. A ship purchased with Wealth Points OOC, does not have to be a purchase IC. Such a ship might have been something your PC inherited from their parents, or something that has been in the family for however many generations. Whatever items you have, the story of those items is yours to tell.

Please don't forget to choose another heirloom item!

Thanks, and let me know if you have any other questions!
