I would think an average room. An average room is the same as two small rooms. But think like, stacked one on top of the other.

If it helps, think of the rooms as blocks. You can really make whatever sort of structure you want from them.
Lei'lira wrote:I would love to see a section for drugs/medicines, though. As a breeder, Lei'lira will be using Saikura a lot, for example. That used to cost 1 GN per dose, so I have no idea what it would translate to in wp. And plants/seeds/etc. Like it costs 1 wp to seed 1/4 acre with common seeds (ex. corn), 2 for uncommon, etc. And I know it would be impossible to list every plant, but maybe something like a full grown tree costs 1 wp, and a sapling costs 1 wp for 10. For planting orchards. Same for herbs - a full grown common herb/rare/etc. costs x wp.
We've discussed it and I believe Drugs & Medicine will be added as a subsection of Edibles. Drugs or medicines for animals, specifically, will be in another section.

We're planning to expand the Animals section to make it Plants, Animals, and Fungi. But as of yet, that section has not been released.

As for seeds, I believe they will be a part of Crafting Materials / Skill Kits, which also have not yet been released.

Please keep in mind, though, that this is only our plan at the moment and is subject to change! ^_^

What about drugs that can be used on both? Saikuru can be used to ensure females get pregnant, and will work on both people and animals. It also acts as an aphrodisiac on men. Can it be mentioned in both areas?

I'd imagine yes. But none of the lists in the Shoppe are exhaustive, remember.

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

Hi Hi,

Just want to drop in and say that actually, this kind of specifics is exactly what we're trying to get away from in the Shoppe / Wealth overhaul.
Saikuru can be used to ensure females get pregnant, and will work on both people and animals. It also acts as an aphrodisiac on men. Can it be mentioned in both areas?
Think of it this way - drugs that do these things will still exist - in the way that nel do - but the whole point of this is to stop the focus on minute detail and encourage the focus on RP. Therefore, those drugs / herbs / medicines / etc that you've used you can use - the Shoppe will have examples - and then things will be specific to the region or the farm or whatever. There isn't a global economy. What Lei'lira calls Saikuru costs X amount in one place and is called Weevilrind and costs Y in another.

So, we're not going to be going down the tiny-teeny detail route. We're sticking with the broad brush-stroke, look at the lifestyle not counting coppers route. The Shoppe will have, at best, examples, and no more than that. Because not only are those minute details very offputting for some - we are pushing ourselves into a situation of having to have EVERY minute detail covered or our lore will full of gaps. We can't do that. So while any individual pc can be as detail oriented as the players wish - that's an individual choice. So long as it's in your Tier, you can assume it's there, name it, or grow it.

Hope that helps!!!!

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

I do like that idea in some regards. But how do you determine what tier something is in? Using Saikuru as an example, you could say that it is a luxury item because it can be used as an aphrodisiac, and to aid nobles in the process of getting an heir. It is something to enhance the quality of life, not a necessity. By that determination, the herb should likely be tier 9-10. Maybe tier 8. But if that is the case, the farmers who use it to aid their efforts in breeding their livestock would never be able to afford it. There are probably other items that could be placed in multiple tiers like that. How does the player decide if they have access to it or not at their current tier?

Likewise, using herbs as an example, you could say that tier 1-3 have no access to herbs of any kind, tier 4-5 have access to a few basic herbs in the cheapest form (tea remedies as opposed to essential oils), and so on. But how do you decide if an herb is "basic" enough to be accessible to someone of a lower tier, or if it is only meant for a higher tier? Is plantain basic? Or lavender? And so on. Then you get into the remedies themselves. Some are made with fats or alcohol, which should likely be at a higher tier than teas made with water, and so on. Syrups would also be available at a higher tier because of the sweeteners used.

Some categories are a lot easier to get a feel of what is "basic" and what would be restricted to a higher tier than others. A poorly made hemp shirt and a sack of flour would be basic, while a steak and a silk dress or a woolen cloak with fur trim would not. Likewise, it makes sense to assume that a farmer that is growing an orchard would need to be in a higher tier than one that grows wheat because trees are more expensive to buy and maintain than wheat. But unless you do a lot of research into herbs and learn which are common in what types of areas, it would be a lot harder to make that distinction. And even that wouldn't help with herbs/medicines that don't exist in real life.

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

I have concerns with how edibles work with hunting and trading since lets say, I take down a 60kg deer, after cleaning and skinning the deer the meat left over would be around 27kg of edible fresh meat. 1580 calories a kg would mean that would be 1 trail of food correct? And if so If i sell it since the fresh meat starts at luxury do i count it as a tier 7 in which the deer would be worth 3 wealth points if sold to the public. would i be correct on this?

And could i use this same pricing for all meat products or should less wanted meat be lowered: such as beaver, rabbit, and small birds. With the obvious more superior meat being higher: such as Beaver tail, Buffalo, and mythical creatures.

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

@Lei'lira

I understand that concern. Entirely.

However, I think it will still (when we get the relevant bit of the Shoppe out there) make sense and be fairly obvious. Can I suggest you adopt a "wait and see" approach in terms of that and, after that section of the Shoppe is out, if you need more clarification, we'll do that then?

@Wald
The idea behind it is that you don't get down to that minutia. I mean - you do your Wealth Thread, get your seasonal wage - and then if you hunt and kill a deer in a different thread, depending on the thread, the peer reviewer does - or does not - reward you WP.

Make sense? We're aiming for more story, less (no!) maths.

Yes, definitely. :) Above all else, I am very much in favor of more story/less (or no) math. So I do love the system in that respect. I just have a tendency to get bogged down in the fiddly little things when trying to understand something new - as you have probably noticed. -.-;;;

And to be fair, with the exception of Saikuru, I am more interested in the herbs for Tei'serin (my alt) since she is an herbalist. And at tier 9, she is going to be able to afford most of the herbs she needs to make her remedies anyway.

Re: The Shoppe Q&A

@ Lei’lira
I’m under the impression that everything is available at all tiers but at different quality.

The drug you mention, Saikuru, would thus be available in poor and flawed, perhaps even potentially harmful quality at Tier1. The effect would perhaps only be just 0-10% of what you could expect of top quality Saikuru, while the risk for bad side effects would be high. The effect would increase and the risk decrease with each step up. At tier 9 the effect would be full and pretty reliable and the risk for unwanted side effects very low. If you have a pc in the middle tiers they would have access to Saikuru with medium effect and medium risk for side effects.

So, a PC on a low tier would be able to buy any herb (or other thing) of the quality corresponding to their tier. Another example I saw was armor and weapons. Crappy bad armor is available for poor mercenaries at low tiers, and shiny plate is available for those at the upper tiers, but PCs can buy a certain amount of armor and weapons above their tier according to special rules in the shoppe. The same reasoning goes for all kinds of stuff, I believe.

I haven’t been in the price list team so I don't know if this has changed, but as I recall it this was the basic reasoning about what’s available in different tiers when the work started.
