We're starting a little something different, somewhat in the spirit of the NaNoWriMo, since we're a writing site it seems appropriate to take the opportunity to have some fun and earn some fun rewards by starting and completing threads and GST's and even modded threads.

Here's how I see it breaking down.

The Wallace family were busy on their large, sea-going raft. Actually it was more like a galleas, or a house on a raft. With a large, water-tight area to keep it afloat on all sides, and withstand the waves of the seas as they churned. Today was U'frek's day, and the Wallace family being a sea-faring clan wished to pay homage to this particular cousin to their beloved Saoire.

The family of Cadouri were all busily moving about tasks on the boat. Readying a series of lanterns they'd crafted lovingly, messages of hope and guidance written on them, in honor of both Xiur and U'frek, as well as Saoire's domain of mentorship. Others righted the rigging, making sure the sails were pointed right, and that the ship would float straight ahead rather than in retrograde, back through the current leading to the Isle of Faldrass.

They'd set out on this expedition, hoping to honor three Immortals this day, for U'frek's day. Xiur, U'frek, and Saoire had been good to them since they'd arrived from Saoire's Dream into Idalos. From the establishment of the Beacon of Xiur, which brought a new wave and renaissance and also a site where miracle had occurred, to Saoire's school, and now U'frek blessing their island with a visit by a large pod of sea turtles that had just arrived.

Saoire had asked to see some of these turtles herself, curious where they might've arrived from. It was speculated that they might've arrived from a magical portal under the main Island. But this was mere speculation. However, with Saoire's domains of Gateways, she was especially intrigued by these rumors, and so had commissioned the Wallace clan to set out on this expedition on her behalf, in honor of the three Immortals.

"Sonny, make sure you wrap that rope tight around the belaying pins!" Wallace said, his furry, chubby face grinning as he watched his younglings about their tasks. "And careful with those lanterns. We'll wait before releasing them, until we reach this rumored Gateway..."

Their boat sailed a few more breaks toward the main island, when a sudden shade fell over their craft. The air crackled with sea salt and energy, and the waves churned. Wallace senior looked around, furrowing a furry brow as he wondered at this sudden change in conditions. "Hmm, most odd. Junior, did you see to the turtles we've gathered so far?"

"Aye father." Junior said, his voice high and sweet on Senior's ears. "They're safe and munching some of our lettuce! I think they really enjoy the Faldrass Cabbage."

"Good..." Senior said, and then cast a look into the horizon. A call came from Junior then, as he pointed. Senior looked to Junior, then turned his head back to look where he was pointing. There, he saw what could only be the Gateway. However, this was no magical or special phenomenon. It looked downright menacing!

"I've got a bad feeling about this..." Wallace senior said, "Junior, raise the sails, let the current take us back."

"Aye aye, skipper." Junior chirped, and began raising the sail, curling it up so that it no longer caught on the wind. HOwever, instead of taking them backward, the current took them closer.

"Ummm, skipper? Daddy? It's taking us close!"

"Quick, release the turtles!! They will know where to go..." Wallace became frantic, feeling suddenly a agitation he'd not experienced ever in his emotional state. Normally he was very calm, but something was stirring him up. "Now Junior do it!"

"Y...yes dad!" So having agreed, he made his way toward the cabin.

Then there was a huge crash, and Junior fell into the water. This in itself wasn't a concern, because Junior was a strong swimmer. But then, the waters around him began churning, looking as if to boil. Their violent vibrations came to a crescendo, then in a blast of red blood and flashing teeth... Junior was gone, pulled beneath the waves.

Wallace stood, clinging to the sail's mast. His eyes filling with tears as he watched his only child eaten by some monster he couldn't even see.

Then he went to work.

He rushed, staggered toward the cabin. And with determination, released all of the turtles they'd thus collected. With almost an afterthought, he began jotting down a note on a bottle. The note he put inside, and then lashed to one of the turtles. Then they were released, out the enclosure to the rear.

The skies darkened all around the craft, and thunder cracked without a hint of lightning. Wallace held his face in his hands, kneeling on the floor of the raft. "I'm sorry, Lady Saoire..."

Then the ship was torn apart, and Wallace senior was not seen again.



Five days later, reports of the missing cadouri went out, as well as the influx of sea turtles, washing ashore and laying their eggs near Saoire's Dream. A call went out for search parties, and interested people to look for these missing cadouri. Saoire was offering a reward, and also life-time membership in her school if they found out what had happened to her poor missing children.

Ok, Vega and Phyrre, have signed on in the sign up thread, they're locked in. Otherwise, the first four players to join are in. That's our capacity, six players including Vega and Phyrre.

You must first include where you were when you heard of the missing Cadouri. Second, you must describe the scene as you arrive at Saoire's school, where the administrator will brief you.
