Name: Rocush
Overview: Growing deep within the swamp is a beautiful solid pink flower call Rocush. The flower is beautiful to look at from a distance. But up close it can be very deadly to be near especially to children. The flower is not rare in the city of Desnind, but outside there are no known locations that grow the plant naturally. Only the most experienced foragers are sent to retrieve the flowers from within the swamp. The trip in to get it is just as dangerous as bringing it back to the city. Special bags are made to carry it back without hurting the forager.
Description
Appearance: The flower is a beautiful pink color with five petals that grows in early fall very late summer. The blooms start out as a dark red bloom that finally starts to lighten up as the flower prepares to bloom. It grows in clusters ranging from five flowers to upwards of twelve.
Location: Deep within the Swamp near Desnind
Hazard / Toxicity: yes
Uses: Rocush has a horrid smell that can cause hallucination in adults within five bits of smelling it. Once harvested it is used to make one of the most deadly poisons known in Desnind. If a child is subjected to the scent, they pass out within ten bits. If exposed longer then it can cause death.

Re: Player Development and Wishlist
Name of Location: Order of the Adunih Outpost
Description: It is only of late that the Order of the Adunih has really focused on improving their relations with the people of Desnind. Their customary way of handling patients has struggled to cope with local traditions. Many locals prefer the seek the healers at the Medicine House rather than trying the more modern methods of the Order.
To combat the stigma that the Order does not have a place in the city of trees, the members have seen to the construction of a new outpost within the canopy. A substantial effort is being made by the Order to make peace with the locals so they can better serve their medical needs. The new Outpost is located high in the trees of Desnind, and boasts architecture that is a blend of southern and northern styles. There are lovely carvings of trees intertwining on the front of the building, along with ivy growing along either side of the door.
There are in total two buildings, the first is the clinic itself where patients are admitted and examined. There is a small admission area with a simple wooden desk where patients and family members can speak to an Assistant Physician who will write down their information. There are also a few wooden benches along the walls across from the desk that serve as a waiting area. Potted plants are also arrayed about the space to make it more comfortable and inviting.
There is a curtained off threshold that leads into the exam area with a central hall. There are eight exam rooms, each are tidy little spaces with a table for the patient and a desk and chair for the attending physician. If it is decided that a patient needs to be admitted they will be transferred from this room to the second building that contains the ward.
At the back of the exam area is a break room for the staff members where they can rest or have a meal when needed.
The second structure can be reached by taking a right at the end of the hall that leads through the exam area. There is a swinging bridge that leads outdoors to the second building that appears much like the first, although it is slightly smaller. Inside is a large central room where patients are moved too if they need to stay at the Outpost overnight or longer. This is the ward. There are a plethora of beds with clean linens and pillows. Beside each bed is a small table with a glow lamp along with books for the patients to read and enjoy.
From the ward there are two other rooms at the back of the building. On the right is a very simplistic operating room where everything is kept impeccably clean. There is a polished wooden table at the center for surgery and several glow lantern arrayed around the room. There is also a skylight to allow more illumination into the chamber. The room of the left of the ward serves as a pharmacy where the Order makes and stores their medicines. Inside the walls are lined with cabinets and there are countertops equipped with mortar and pestles and delicate sets of scales.

Title: Head Physician (Hooded Gold Cloak)
Moderation: Self Modded
Skills: Gardening (Master), Medicine(Expert), Surgery (Expert), Caregiving (Competent),Strength (Competent), Psychology (Novice)
Description: Rue has lived in Desnind for the better part of a decade after she moved here to help get the Order started. Getting any sort of traction with the locals has been hard but over time she had begun to earn their trust. Rue is a no-nonsense physician who relies firmly on science to treat her patients. She has had to learn the hard way that the local Sev’ryn often trust their traditions over well researched medicine practices almost every time. To combat this problem, Rue has become something of a proclaimed herbalist since natural medicines are regarded in a positive manner in Desnind.
Her personality is sharp as a rose’s thorn and she is quick witted and straight to the point. Physically Rue is a tall woman, standing nearly six feet tall and has a muscular physique. Her hair is a bright blonde hue and is extremely long, although she keep it neatly braided most of the time. For her wardrobe the physician is often seen wearing full length dark green or brown dresses paired with her gold Order cloak.

Description: Juel’rie is a young Sev’ryn teenager who starter working with Rue from the age of fifteen. Her parents don’t really approve of her choice to work with the Order of the Adunih over working at the local Medicine House. However Juel’rie prefers a more orderly and scientific approach to medicine. She now works as Rue Westfield’s assistant and is learning more and more about the practice of medicine.
Juel’rie is known as being a little over-emotional at times. Her feelings are easily hurt and she is quick to show a temper if someone is rude to her. This is likely due to her age and the fact that she is still new at dealing with patients.
The young Sev’ryn speaks fluent Common and Xanthean , so she spends much of her time acting as a translator for Rue since the older woman’s grasp on the local language is only passable at best. As for her appearance Juel’rie has soft rounded features and she is quite short, only standing at a little over five feet tall. The girl also has taken to wearing more northern clothes that she sees visitors wearing, to the chagrin of her parents. Typically this means she wears colorful cotton dresses and robes, she also commonly wears a headscarf to keep her hair clean and from interfering with her work.

Re: Player Development and Wishlist
Name: Kudi’Eltu
Description:
Location:
History: A hairless cousin of the common baboon that has been altered through generations upon generations of Lisirran manipulation and experimentation. Quasi intelligent, they are capable of taking up the tools of mortals, but not advanced enough to reproduce these implements.
The Serga Mavranu developed the Kudi’Eltu from the base of a common jungle baboon, in hopes that it would be a superior vector of disease, that would bring ruin to the creations of Moseke. In trying to create a super vector of disease, they produced a race of creatures that while able to proliferate extremely fast, were entirely immune to disease and unable to carry disease within their bodies.
Once they discovered their failure, the cultists of Lisirra drove the Kudi’Eltu out, hunting them down to the last. Unknown to them, few escaped, and were able to reproduce in the Western Jungles of Desnind. There they thrived. And though they are common fodder for jungle predators, through a combination of ability to use tools of travelers who are unfortunate enough to run afoul of them, and their prolific birthrate and fertility, were able to carve out a niche in the undergrowth of the jungle, often making their lairs in burrows beneath thick brambles and roots.
To both Desninders and Lisirran Cultists, they are considered pests of little value or intelligence, a constant scourge that offers little apparent benefit to any ecosystem they exist in.
They’ve been known to poach great amounts of game and livestock from nearby hunting grounds and ranches.
Appearance: These bipeds stand at roughly 2’ - 4’ and are slight of build. Their skin is olive green, and their eyes resemble that of other mortals, with a variety of colors. They are noted for their chittering laugh, which is their warcry as they descend upon unwary prey or travellers.
Lifespan and Development: Gestation of new Kudi’Eltu takes less than half a Cycle, generally. Once born, they reach maturity and fertility within two cycles. They tend to die due to predation long before they reach their full measure, but if left alone they can reach ages as old as 3-4 arcs.
Diet: They are omnivorous, and voracious creatures. Areas where they can be found are often devoid of fruit and game.
Temperament: Extremely stupid, other than an ability to use simple tools and weapons that they snatch from travellers, whether by stealth or by overcoming them and looting their belongings.
They can range from cowardly, to aggressive. There have been some reports where a friendly one has been encountered, but these reports are apocryphal at best.
Abilities: Immunity to natural diseases and poisons. They tend to be as fearless as they are stupid. They can use simple tools/weapons and create burrows where they dwell beneath thickets of sharp brambles. They are also capable of rudimentary communication with each other. So far, attempts at communication from mortals has been fruitless.

Name: Mïo’ṣẹẹlï (“heart in the waters” is the rough translation, also sometimes just “seeli” for short)
Overview
This is a “jack of all trades” aquatic weed. It can be eaten raw or cooked. Can be dried and weaved into baskets, hats, shoes, clothes, and rope similar to certain grasses on land. It can be used as bandages in dire need. There isn’t a native to Desnind who hasn’t used an item made from this plant.
Height: 3 feet long at most
Width: 3.5 inches
Description
While most people are not going to want to eat this weed, in dire situations the mïo’ṣẹẹlï is a welcome meal. It’s said to taste like bitter mud but the effect it has when eaten is well worth the affronted taste buds. Sev’ryn say if someone chose to they could live off of this plant solely. They wouldn’t gain any weight and would remain healthy until their dying day. That being said due to the taste you wouldn’t see mïo’ṣẹẹlï in any Sev’ryn dishes in Desnind. Some hunters or explorers may choose to eat this when out in the Lori if foraging and hunting is sparse.
You will always be able to find mïo’ṣẹẹlï in the deep swamp pits of the Makubwa Lori. It grows in shin to chest deep water (for the average person). It’s called a weed because it’s so common throughout places there are swamp in the Lori. The base of the mïo’ṣẹẹlï weed is anchored in the submerged soil by its roots but can grow long enough to have its upper portion float at the top of the water, appearing almost folded if it is very long and the water is shallow. This kind is easiest for harvesting and idea for drying.
While it grows freely throughout the swamps it also grows in the Tosibeere River and this is where a lot of the harvesting is done when it’s used for weaving as a portion of the Tosibeere River is nearby Desnind. People have been using mïo’ṣẹẹlï for weaving for as long as anyone can remember. A good portion of cheap baskets, shoes, hats, and rope is made from this if you are in Desnind, these items are common and cheaply priced-- though not always cheaply made. Mïo’ṣẹẹlï is sturdy through a few hard uses and retains water well when expertly weaved into a basket.
Appearance: Long, reddish brown, and wide. Translucent. It’s flexible and sticky in its raw/natural form. When dried it is dark brown and textured with small ridges, it bends in this form like dried grass.
Location: Swamps of Makubwa Lori, Tosiberre River
Hazard / Toxicity
It's possible to get tangled in these if you're not paying attention while swimming.
Uses:
Eating- When eaten raw this weed is chewy, tough, and gritty at the same time. It breaks apart in the mouth as if eating chewy leaves. The flavor is most pungent raw and depending on where it’s growing may take on the surrounding water’s flavor. For example, if the mïo’ṣẹẹlï is found in a still, stinking bog it will not only taste like bitter mud but also bog water. On the contrary when harvested from the Tosibeere River it tastes not exactly good but cleaner than anything you will pull from a swamp. When mïo’ṣẹẹlï is cooked some of the natural flavor is lessened, though never gone completely, and is similar to okra in that it produces a slime as it cooks. The best way to cook this is to fry it first, if sticking it in a stew, or simply wrap around a stick and let it smoke/cook. In fact smoked, salted mïo’ṣẹẹlï is some (brave) Sev’ryn’s favorite treat when out in the Lori. It’s true when they say you can live off of this plant for long periods of time, though it’s not the most tasty or varied meal option.
Drying/Weaving- Wooden drying racks and a partially shaded, airy spot is all that’s needed to dry the mïo’ṣẹẹlï. It takes on average 48 breaks to fully dry a haul of mïo’ṣẹẹlï. If the mïo’ṣẹẹlï is left to dry out in complete baking sun it will burn and crumble, being unfit to use. Weaving is done similar to long grasses. It’s not possible to make mïo’ṣẹẹlï into a true textile in the cotton or linen sense, but crude items can be made if you have a mind to do it. Items will serve their purpose but are not particularly long lasting. A good beginner’s crafting item.
Bandaging- Not commonly used but possible dry or wet but always raw, DO NOT COOK! This would never be an end all, be all scenario but in a dire situation one could successfully keep a wound clean and covered using the mïo’ṣẹẹlï. Dry bandages keep longer on average than wet ones as the wet ones are prone to allowing blood to leak-- especially if the wound is deep.

NPC Name: Máktuu’kál, Tuu for short
Race: Sev’ryn
Familiar: Female Masallaci
Age: 92 Zi’da 689 (30 arcs old)
Title: Hunter/Fisherman, Storyteller
Moderation Type: Self
Able/Willing to Mentor?: Yes
Skills able/willing to Mentor in:
Polearms & Staves: Quarterstaff; Expert
Ranged: Long Bow; Expert
Hunting; Competent
Fishing; Expert
Storytelling; Competent
Tanning; Competent
Cooking; Novice
Description.
Máktuu’kál, at first glance, could be described as popular, knowledgeable, resourceful, laid back, kind, and stubborn. His clothing style is always lax and flowing, some may even call it lazy. As pictured above he can be seen wearing overalls with no shirt, one strap undone, and no shoes when he’s in Desnind hanging out around the Fire Pit with the other hunters. When in the Lori he will have a plain tunic on underneath the overalls and a pair of soft leather shoes on his feet. He is always wearing his large necklace made of thick, braided and wrapped silver cords with turquoise stones as well as a septum piercing and an eyebrow ring. Tuu’s hair will always be picked out to a full afro even in the Lori, often leading to sticks, twigs, leaves, and sometimes even bugs to find their way into his hair. This doesn’t seem to bother him much though.
It’s well known that Tuu makes his living by hunting, fishing, tanning, and training people. If you ask him to be your trainer he will only ask to take what he catches for his own, leaving what you catch to be yours. He’s also known to train people in self-defense with the gnarled quarterstaff he can be seen using as a walking stick in the Lori. Everyone around Desnind knows him as a resourceful and honest person. He is someone who can get things done and can be found more often than not at the center of gossip for the city. When not in the city you will find him fishing at the Tosibeere River, he is very willing to talk and help you.
Tuu’s facial expression is generally aloof. This Sev’ryn man is simply laid back and takes everything in stride. Being knowledgeable about the Lori and often in the know about gossip around Desnind he hates being contradicted for something he knows he knows and will not budge even if he’s wrong. He’s not an angry type and will give the “silent monk” treatment if pushed and annoyed on the matter as he is quite the pacifist.
All and all he his a friendly person and his stories are a known trait around Desnind. It’s one of his favorite past times to sit around the Fire Pit with a crowd and tell stories of far off places, races, people and deeds. His stories vary from children’s tales to perhaps more adult tales with a horror flavor-- though only if you ask! While telling his stories Tuu will use his whole body, throwing his arms around in the air or making faces to match the tale.
Beware his cooking!

Name: Cani’sliwa ("Dog’s Hair")
Overview
Dog’s hair is a pleasant sight around the Lori and is considered a weed to most common people. During Yimden and Saun the glowing, flying “hairs” are everywhere on the wind getting all over the place, giving the plant its name. Holistic healers rely heavily on every aspect of this plant and alchemists around Idalos covet the Night-Light Powder made from its seeds.
Description
Medicine women have been using this plant for arcs upon arcs. The health benefits are numerous and it would be well loved if the seeds didn’t overtake the winds during the Hot Cycle. Luckily these plants only grow by water, similar in that way to cattails else all of Desnind and the Lori would have these growing in every nook, cranny, and corner after their spreading season. While most people see them as a nuisance, there are some who find their glowing seeds to be beautiful and haunting. Others genuinely love the flowers and will press them into books. It’s common for those in love to make wreaths for each other on the banks of the Tosibree out of this flower.
It’s said Moseke created cani’sliwa to light the way for travellers in the dark corners of the Makubwa Lori. Indeed, in some of the thicker, swampy areas of the forest it would be a welcome sight for there to be some light shed. Night-light powder created by the seeds is easy to make even for a novice alchemist and has saved more than one person lost in the Lori. Another reagent made by it is "Dog’s Hair Juice", a commodity for adventurers who want a steroid in battle. Healers in Desnind love this plant for its many herbal uses as well, often people who come in looking for a vitamin or stomach remedy get handed this plant in one form or another.
Appearance: Cani’sliwa is a long, wiry plant with one to three thin stalks and spiky leaves. “Dog’s hair” grows in clusters of around 15 to 20 plants, plant each sporting five flowers a piece. The plants grow to about two feet high and the light pink flowers are an inch wide in diameter. As the flowers mature and become seed they turn into glowing, fluffy hairballs that when blown disperse and ride the wind. The glow is light pink in color and dull, though at night the sight of a massive amount of these could be equally haunting or beautiful. The root is similar in appearance to a dandelion’s root and is well anchored, it can be hard to remove by hand.
Location: In shady areas of the Makubwa Lori and always near water. Found all along the Tosibeere River. In Desnind by ponds there is sometimes some stray plants but they are almost always uprooted quickly, you won't usually come across them in the city.
Hazard / Toxicity
None other than stepping on it, the leaves have spikes. Uses:
Seeds- The seeds are used in alchemy to make a glow-in-the-dark powder that never washes off or fades for 20 trials. (Night-light Powder)
Flower- Crushing, boiling, and distilling the flower petals into a potion that can be used to rid folks of bruises and fatigue, even staving away exhaustion. (Dog’s Hair Juice)
Non-alchemical uses have the petals just being blended into a smoothie or other drink. The flowers have well known benefits for helping stomach ulcers or mouth ulcers. They are full of antioxidants as well. It also helps with pain, though nominally and not usually taken for this purpose when made into a drink.
Leaves and stalk- The leaves and stalk of this plant are full of sugar and flavor. These are often made into a homemade wine that the native to Desnind affectionately call “woof wine” as they say it will have you barking mad and on all fours like a dog at the end of the night. It’s of similar quality to moonshine and will often have other flavors or berries added to it.
The leaves in particular are used in holistic healing as a poultice for things such as abscesses or other sores, cuts, or scrapes on the body. After the spikes have been scraped off of course!
Root- The root is dried and cut up or made into a powder. Some people take the powder as a vitamin for all sorts of benefits. Heart health, blood health, memory, detoxification. This makes the root quite the commodity though dried it has a shelf life of only 85 days. It must be refined into the powder and stored in a cool, dark, dry place to keep for arcs.

(Reagent)
Name: Night-light Powder
Overview: This is a powder created by the glowing seeds of the cani’sliwa plant located in Desnind. When coming in contact with an object it creates a semi-permanent glow-in-the-dark effect. You want to be careful with this powder as it will stain anything it touches. Use caution when creating or applying this reagent. A novice alchemist is able to create and use this powder and is one of the first things an alchemist in Desnind will learn to create.
Availability: Commonly found in Desnind, in fact there is too much of it. The cani’sliwa seeds are easily found and harvested during the Hot Cycle in Desnind. Rare other places in Idalos
Location: Sold at Wealth of the Land in Desnind, found in port cities in other parts of Idalos
Price: 2 WP per 5 oz vial in Desnind
5 WP per 5 oz vial other places in Desnind
Details: In order to create this powder one must first collect cani’sliwa seeds. To make 5 oz worth of powder you need 10 oz of seeds. The seeds and their parachutes glow pink in their natural state. Grind the seeds up, fluffy parachute and all, into the finest possible powder. This powder will still glow pink. Using a cast iron skillet or other tool, and prepare to have this tool glow for 20 trials, cook the powder until the glow turns from pink to blue. The change will be instant, preceded by a blinding flash, and you must remove the skillet immediately, in tandem with the change, or else the powder will explode and get absolutely everywhere. The explosion doesn't hurt but will cover everything in glowing dust that lasts for the full 20 trials. Good luck!
The blue glow is only visible at night and casts the light up to 10 feet. It lasts for 20 trials and begins to fade rapidly on the 17th trial. In order to use the powder one must only rub it onto a surface, it begins to stain immediately.
