Re: The Sister of Wrath (Faith and Oonah)

Tree Talk Xanthean Common
Oonah was only partially tuned into Faith and Qit's conversation although she did pay more rapt attention when Faith talked about her mark from Famula. An ability to call someone to come would be a very helpful blessing. A lovely one that got Oonah off the hook for the only thing she worried she could not do well for Qit, get Caza'Ria back to Faith.

She considered Faith's insight about magic. It changed one's soul? She had a lot to think on with what Faith had said about Mantis, whom it seemed were not strong because of how wrong they were? Wrong in every meaning? Oonah was often wrong in meanings but she didn't think that was what Faith meant this time. So it seemed that these Manitis were bad because the magic made them so. If they were not strong then could they not be easily beaten? Yet a strong person could not turn bad?

Still she was concerned because there was no doubt that the huntress was strong, probably the strongest person Oonah knew, but she seemed to have an awful lot of magic stuff going on. Trust was one thing but what if that person who was trusted couldn't help themselves no matter how strong they seemed to be? Maybe it was more a matter of faith than trust? To the Tunawa healer it was all the more reason to be near, if only so that trusted, magically-afflicted person didn't have to go through all of that alone.

She must have been on the right track with her thoughts though because Faith's explanation of friendship seemed to fall right in line. Keeping Qit company or even Faith, who was becoming Oonah's friend too, meant doing her best by them. But what did best mean to her and would that be the same to Qit? Oonah's head began to ache trying to figure the ins and outs of it all but found relief as Qit interjected that laughter worked for her. It was a good start anyway. "These things sense makes and nothing I would not do for already my friends. Yet think I will on ways more to be best and will try to laugh gooder too." For as wrong as being weak could be because of magic and as strong as laughter might help, it seemed too easy; and That Oonah did not trust.

Qit's unexpected snack diverted all of her thoughts as she realized it had been awhile since she'd eaten too. A small greenish vine slipped from between her lips to lick them across as she looked about Faith's home for the hint of a fly or spider or something, but there wasn't even a cobweb to be seen. "After the bonding, have any fruits, flowers or bugs to eat?" Maybe she'd have to take a stroll through the yard before 'bath' and 'bed' whatever those meant.

There was no hesitation in Faith's movement. As soon as Qit'ria agreed, Faith clasped forearms with the Sev'ryn and the tattoo, identical to the one she wore, appeared around Qit's wrist. Faith smiled softly and she made sure not to overwhelm Qit with her own emotions ~ after all it was a two-way bond that they now shared. Qit'ria's emotional state was wild and strong, but Faith had expected nothing less and she was quite sure that Qit needed only one thing. And that was what Faith gave her. Acceptance. She looked at her friend, smiled softly and nodded. She felt what Qit was feeling and she loved her as a sister. End of. So, the bond was made and Faith's expression showed just how relieved she was by this. It meant that she could protect Qit'ria, even from a distance, could help her.

And, if it all got too much, she could go to her.

Or bring her back. Faith wouldn't do the latter, though, because it would not bring Caza and that was not acceptable to Famula's Champion. So, she smiled more broadly and nodded as Qit explained about laughter. "It's a good point." Faith knew that Qit had brought happiness into her and Padraig's life, and that was the most important and wonderful gift. She grinned when Qit agreed to the bed and she nodded. "Thank you." It was all she said and, Faith firmly believed, it was all that needed saying too. Once Qit had experienced sleeping in a bad, then she would be able to make a choice, her own way and fully informed of the facts. That had to be a good thing, Faith thought, and so she said no more.

She nodded to Oonah, with a smile. "I have lots of fruits for you." Cally's, the restaurant Faith had run in Scalvoris, catered to Tunawa. She was more than able to cater for them all and would make sure that they all had good food inside them which would help them in the trials ahead. That said though, there was another thing to deal with, and Faith did what she always would. She dealt with it head on.

"Right. So, a bath for you, and for Caza." Faith said to Qit, with a soft smile but very obviously in such a way that meant it was just what happened around here. "Then, I will fill your stomachs with good food, made with friendship and love and then, bed and rest."

But the bath? Oh that was most certainly non-negotiable.

Qit's eyes widened and her smile grew a bit as Faith clasped her arm back. The woman's grip was firm, and Qit gave in kind. She watched as an exact replica of Faith's formed upon her arm. Qit'ria felt the bond form between the two, feeling nothing but genuine acceptance and calm from her best friend. And for the first time in truly a long time, she felt safe. Part of her wanted to cry, part wanted to run and hide. But there was a growing part of her too, one that was welling up, and muting out the others. Love. She loved Faith and she couldn't be happier than to simply be her sister.

The air around Qit grew to one of relief as they unclasped arms, as levity took over. Faith could feed them, and could even cater to a Tunawa's palate. Though of course she could, she was a Moseke follower, she knew Desnind, and was kind to all, in Qit's experience. Plus Qit ate the same things Oonah ate when hunting was poor. She enjoyed all foods nature gave.

Then the color paled from her face.

Faith had mentioned a bath. Qit's immediate reaction was one of fear. She'd seen city people take baths in buckets of steaming water before. They looked like soup! She didn't want to be cooked alive! And she liked her scent! It blended in perfectly with the forest, it kept her hidden when needed and she used it to scare off other creatures. She didn't want to be left vulnerable.

She looked to the door, thinking of running. Faith wouldn't chase her, she knew that much. She'd let her go if she wanted. Wait. She really would do that. Faith wouldn't force a bath on her. All she'd have to do was say no. And Faith would be fine with that. She cast a side eye on Faith. She really only wanted what was best, to be helpful. Faith wouldn't cook Qit and Caza.

And this was Faith's den. Her den, her rules. And food would come after the bath. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad...

Qit nodded, willing to accept this bath, picking up Caza. She turned to Oonah, pleading eyes cast on the woman, "Want bath?" She hoped Oonah said yes. She didn't want to go it alone.

Re: The Sister of Wrath (Faith and Oonah)

Tree Talk Xanthean Common

Thinking back at the day's end Oonah decided that it had been a Wonder-Full day.

Her greatest adventure yet! Flying a Flutterbus to a strange unknown place where people were expected to wear cloth and use cloth to tie their weapons down for safety. She had been shocked at the city's multitude of colors, noises, smells and sounds; and such a variety of people!

Meeting Faith whom, to be honest, Oonah felt a little in awe of but would never admit. It had been disturbing to hear about magic and Mantis and Qit's despair about Yeye and how much danger they were going into. But Faith had faced it all with calm fortitude having had an answer for everything to calm their anxieties. Oonah was glad her friend had such a good friend.

The bath had been an experience with water that Oonah could never have even imagined! "Bath," she felt the word in her mouth as there was no translation for such a thing in the wild. They'd laughed as Caza'ria splashed and played about. Oonah had paid close attention to how little Blackbird was washed. Cleaning all the child's baby fat creases, around each tiny toe and finger, her delicate ears and gently caressing the feathers straight, always trying to keeping her face above the water. Then she'd learned how to dry and swaddle her with the same gentle attention to detail.

It had been Oonah's and Qit's turn next. While stepping into water, heated to a point nearly unheard of in a more natural environment, she had figured whoever had thought of such a thing must have been a genius. Languishing, she had almost felt her body absorbing the warmed water as she floated upon it. She chuckled thinking back on Qit's moans and groans then sighs of pleasure as she appreciated her first experience; and how suspicious she had been when told to rub the soap across her skin and through her hair. That had been touch and go for a few bits. "Soap," again, no known translation. Yet Oonah wondered if there weren't something in the wild that might be used similarly other than the sand that Qit had sworn was effective enough.

Then the meal! They sat around a table with un-natural tableware - not something gathered from the forest to fit the need at the moment. She had attempted to use an awkward tool called a 'fork' that wasn't as effective as her own fingers. There had been many things to try for everyone. She'd particularly appreciated the fresh fruits with no bruises and grains with no chaff or mildew. She'd always collected her honey straight from the hive but here there was a big jar of it with the strangest looking stick for dishing it out. Faith had introduced them both to something called, "Jam" which was almost heavenly. Crushed and sugared fruit, it came from a jar as well; and, Oonah was shocked to learn, preserved last arc. Oonah knew she couldn't return home without a jar or two of jam for her mother and herself.

And now? Oonah listened to Blackbirds soft breathing in the "Cradle" next to the "Bed." Qit had taken to the bed much more quickly than the bath. She was sunk into the down-filled mat, covered with a soft "Blanket." She slept sprawled, arms and legs spread akimbo, with her mouth gapped slightly open emitting a cute little squeak and growl-like rumble with each breath.

Oonah rolled over with a contented sigh, feeling the mat shape to the contours of her ridges and curves. The weight of the blanket dragged her deeper and deeper as she mumbled, "Best Day Ever."

Comments: This thread was cute and sweet but also very cool. I'm also really enjoying the dialogue about the Mantis, and Faith's POV on it as Famula's champion was interesting. Enviable broken language dialogue, too; impressive writing all around. Enjoy your rewards!

Also, note: the review said Faith's knowledges were 'pending communication'; feel free to send me the knowledges whenever they're done. I'll edit them in!
