Vhalar 718 Seasonal Events
Weather in Rharne

1st-22nd Trial

Image
Despite the change in season, the beginning of Vhalar ends up being near to the same heat as Saun was. Most will opt to wear cooler clothes and as few as possible, as you would expect to see in Saun, and the general feeling of the city remains the same as the season prior to Vhalar. On some days, this heat becomes overbearing for many. However, the night time proves to be a nice warmth, albeit a little hot.

23rd-50thst Trial

Image
As the heat fades, the sharp cold comes around during the night. While the day is a moderately warm period the end of the warmth can be felt in the dead of night, leaving the nights much quieter than they were during the early trials of Vhalar. On a few nights, however, the skies are clear and all the stars can be seen clearly - leaving a beautiful spectacle for all to see.

51st-60th Trial

Image
While most would hope for a kind and warm day around the middle of Vhalar, all are thoroughly disappointed. Instead of the perfect conditions most expected the days are cold, and on the 56th a storm appears, strong winds knocking over light items and generally causing minor damage. With no forewarning or weather signs for this storm, however, rumour quickly spreads of its cause being a bad omen.

61st-66th Trial

Image
After the storm weather becomes a little rougher, rain beginning to fall fairly heavily. While this weather is durable and many will still be around outside, the nice warmth has clearly faded and seems to be unlikely to return for a while, marking the beginning of the poor weather and the start of a long cold.

67th-72nd Trial

Image
With the weather worsening it's not a surprise that more minor storms occur, some with stronger winds than others. Yet the most worrying of these occurs on the 70th. What alarms many people about it is the lack of lightning, an unnatural looking storm and what some claim to be a face in the clouds. While many dismiss this, some claim to know the real truth of this bad omen, mixed with the mysterious creatures in the Stormwastes. Perhaps, some whisper, Rharne is in trouble.

73rd-79th Trial

Image
While the storms begin to fade, the light rain left behind can still be uncomfortable for some. However, some days will be warm enough that the rain doesn't matter, leaving people happy to go outside and explore the area.

80th-106th Trial

Image
Rain slowly fades and, quickly, the cold spreads. As Zi'da is on the horizon, many can feel the cold, though no snow falls as of yet. Instead, cloudy skies and ice cold air fill the city, leaving it quiet and empty.

107th-123rd Trial

Image
With the cold cycle becoming incredibly close, the cold air becomes bitter and unpleasant, almost painful on the throat. Skies are clouded on almost every day, giving the city of Rharne a foggy look to it. From the 110th to the 117th a mass of fog lingers, making it impossible to see up to twenty feet in front of you. During this time, Rharne is mostly silent.

Note

If you would like to help out in Rharne and plan the weather for next season, feel free to PM Oracle. Huge thanks to Munchkin for doing the weather this season!

1st Vhalar: “Red Dawn” News
Giant creatures made of flame have been spotted again following the expedition into the Stormwastes last season. The Lightning Knights of Storm’s Edge are attempting to deal with the threat but have had difficulties successfully fighting off these massive fiery beasts. Many take on the shape of snakes and scorpions. These creatures are often only seen in the distance, so contact with them has been rare but violent.

6th Vhalar: “Drink Up!” -News News
There is a sponsored drinking contest at the Turning Wheel Inn. Contestants are provided free drinks for that night, but only if they win their match. Matches are held in pairs of two. Food is provided and even a couple friendly brawls break out.

9th Vhalar:”Ghost Hunters” Event
At nightfall misty figures that appear to be human have appeared in remote locations across the Stormlands. These ‘ghosts’ seem to be attempting to communicate, although no sound comes from their mouths when they attempt to speak. They also seem bound to the small area where they have appeared, and are unable to walk more than ten feet from their point of origin. It’s as if they are trapped there and are unable to move freely. By morning they have vanished, leaving no clues about their origins behind.

10 Vhalar:"Sickness of the Dust" News
Residents of the Dust Quarter have begun falling ill in droves. A terrible wasting sickness has begun to plague their numbers, causing extreme weight loss, fatigue and other symptoms. People are withering away but no one else in Rharne seems to really care what happens to the dredges of society. (PM Faith if you are interested in this.)

16th Vhalar: “Trouble in Rynmere?” News
Rumors are flying about that there is trouble brewing in Rynmere. Patrons of local bars and breweries are suspicious of their neighboring nation and what it could mean for Rharne. Is war on the horizon or are the rumors nothing but hogwash?

20th Vhalar: “Lightning Thieves” -Open Event *Pm if you want plot notes
Pirates have begun making attempts to slip into Volta under the cover of darkness with light rowboats to steal whatever they can find. They seem intent on stealing casks of wine along with anything else they can get their hands on. These thieves are crafty and seem familiar with the electric phenomena surrounding the town. The pirates are armed with clubs and wooden shivs.

28th Vhalar: -"The Wrath of the People" Open Event
Enraged and upset by the attack on Azurewind Market in Ymiden and the government’s inability to locate the perpetrators, there is a riot outside the Lightning Cathedral early that morning. Many people wonder why Ilaren will not make an appearance. Rumors begin to fly that she has left the city for the time being.

30th Vhalar:”The Vanishing Men”News
Young men have started going missing late at night after going out for drinks at the Harlot and Hound. Many assume that they simply decided not to go home to their wives and mothers and brush off the occurrence as nothing unusual.

33rd Vhalar:"No Cure" News
The illness creeping through the Dust Quarter continues to ravage the population and so far the Order of Adunih has not managed to find a cure. Time is running out as the deaths begin to increase. (PM Faith if you are interested in this)

45th - 52nd Vhalar:”Annual Beer Festival”News
The Annual Beer Festival spans 7 trials, during which all citizens (with the exception of those who work in the service industry) are excused from work. During the day, the streets in the Earth Quarter and the Glass Quarter are lined with booths of brewers sampling and selling locally brewed beers as well as merchants from all over Idalos peddling their wares. During the evening, taverns across Rharne are filled with revelers.

58th Vhalar:"The Widow"Open Event*Pm if you want plot notes.
In total six men have now vanished after visiting the Harlot and Hound late at night. After several trials of silence the bodies of the men have washed up on the shores of Lake Lovalus. Many suspect that this is the the work of a serial killer known locally as the Widow. She struck before some ten arcs ago before vanishing into obscurity. It seems that she has returned to begin killing again.

62nd Vhalar: “Woodland Disturbance”Open Event*Pm if you want plot notes.
The strange and frightening flora known as Marauders are seen frantically stampeding throughout the Ywyngyll Forest. Something is wrong and the forest is sending it’s defenders into a panic. Locals witnesses in Cavevalle Town pass on the word that something foul is going on within the neighboring woods. The town start putting together a scouting party to investigate while also requesting aid from the Lightning Knights. Some of the local children speak of a flaming deer roaming the forest as the source of the chaos.

87th Vhalar:”Spies of Rynmere”Open Event*Pm if you want plot notes.
]It has been announced that Rharne had entered into a defence pact with Scalvoris, Viden and the Eternal Empire. People are getting nervous that a war with Rynmere could be on the horizon. A pair of well dressed men are seen frequenting the Copper Prince at night and speaking in hushed whispers with a man allegedly with connections to the Shadow Quarter. Gold is being exchanged and people are nervous that spies from Rynmere have infiltrated Rharne. The Thunder Priestesses are called in to investigate.

Zi'da 718 Seasonal Events
Weather in Rharne

1st-19th Trial

Image
Despite it being early Zi'da the cold is near to unbearable, leaving the streets mostly empty as the early days of Zi'da make people uncomfortable and freezing. Unfortunately, the weather shows few signs of getting better, but actually look to get worse as the days progress. However, no snow falls as of yet.

20th-29th Trial

Image
For a nine day grace period the cold weather seems to fade, for the most part, becoming at least tolerable for most. While it isn't entirely pleasant to be in people still endure it, as the long days spent stuck indoors bored people. However, those outside will still be dressed in thick clothes to try and handle the cold that is still around.

30th-41st Trial

Image
Sadly, despite the hopes for warm weather after the nine days of forgiving temperatures, the people of Rharne are thoroughly disappointed. Everywhere becomes cold, water freezing and ice cold temperatures coating the city. Only a few areas are remotely tolerable, and anyone outside will be in heavy clothing if not prepared for the cold.

42nd-55th Trial

Image
Snow begins to fall during this period, albeit light, as the Rharnians grow used to the cold conditions. Men and women are beginning to brave the cold more, growing comfortable, though the city usually full of life goes quieter than most will have ever seen it. Until the snow begins to fade, the party city falls quiet.

56th-67th Trial

Image
During this time the snow is on and off, though most of the days remain clear. Because of this, the city springs back to life, people leaving their homes to enjoy the break in the snow. Even while it snows it falls light, leading a lot of children to come out and play and parents to enjoy the lighter snow while it lasts.
.

68th-85th Trial

Image
As the snow fades for a while the people of Rharne spend every day they can out and around. During the night, however, snow still falls and darkness becomes much less bearable. Fires need to be lit to keep warm and many sleep with layers on, the cold causing a lot of discomfort for any that brave it.

86th-87th Trial

Image
During these two days comes the rough snowstorm that people have been dreading, unsure of what to expect. Yet when it comes it's tougher than anyone imagined it would be, harsh conditions causing an insane amount of difficulty for anyone that tries to brave it. This harsh weather marks the beginning of much colder times.

88th-93rd Trial

Image
Heavy snow continues to fall as the season comes to an end, trapping many indoors. Those that do manage to go outside will be in a white, desolate area with few in it. Snow up to a foot in height coats the streets, the cold unbearable for the citizens of Rharne.

Note

If you would like to help out in Rharne and plan the weather for next season, feel free to PM Rumour or Zenith.
