♆ I stood there, looking at the oddly shaped building, looking to see those that would come and go from the building. Gathering my thoughts I took a deep breath and made my way into the building, not really knowing how this would go for me. Do I just walk in and say I wanna join, is there a screening process or something? Fuck I had so many questions and not even the slightest of answers to them. Slowly stepping into the building I watched as soldiers and civilians alike bustled about, reporting crimes, orders being given. I found a spot in a corner, out of the eyes of everyone, but with enough view to see the comings and goings. I couldnt see myself as a soldier, but I knew at this point and time I didnt have much of a choice, not knowing whether or not my personality would mesh well with the soldiers already in service, not that I could truly force myself to care. They all looked so damn serious, like they had a bugs stuck up their asses or something, but then again all guards I've seen have that same feel to them. Maybe it was a universal thing, but I wouldn't become so assimilated like them, all moving like non-emotional dolls, doing what their puppeteer ordered. Shaking my head I was truly doubting coming here, knowing the soldier life was far too constraining for my free seafaring soul. Throwing it back I looked to the sealing, racking my brain to see what exactly I should do. Why couldnt this be easy huh? I dont do authoritative assholes well. ♆

♆ After sitting for what could only be described as breaks on end, I drudged up the courage to head to the front desk, where a woman greeted me and asked what she could help me with. Awkwardly I scratched the back of my head as he found the words after clearing my throat. "Um..... heh I guess I'd.......I mean I'm here to sign up for the Elements." I shouted, giving the best salute I knew how. The receptionist, Sylvia, was more than happy to help in signing me up. She went over the paperwork, making sure to explain in detail what was required of a soldier in the Elements, though each branch was different, something she assured me that I'd soon learn once I was made a member. After pouring over the contents of the paper work, I was told it would take a break for everything to be finalized but all recruits were nine times out of ten accepted. She offered I get familiar with Scalvoris Town, get to know the people and what not. Taking her up on her advice I strolled the town. It held its own charm, being an island town and all, but even with its uniqueness, it still was like any port city to me. Yeah this place would be easy to make my home, it gave all the comforts of living, plus it was an island which meant sailing. As I walked the city I occasionally stopped into taverns or pubs and would try and get a feel for the people. They were an interesting bunch with colorful viewpoints, some good some bad, but who was I to judge ya know. In any case it was reaching almost a break with a could hear some commotion coming from a crowd up ahead at the local tavern. Being the curious{nosey} person I am, I waded through the crowd in order to get a front row seat of what was going on.♆

♆ I cant really say I like the scene I saw when I finally shoved my way threw the crowd. I could only think that this was what could clearly be seen as a domestic issue. A young woman, maybe 23-25 arcs in a barmaid's apron, working the tavern seemed to be turning down a self entitled gent of his advances. At first I couldnt care less about the situation. But as I paid closer attention, listening to their words, catching the shifts in their tone and reading some loud body language, I came to the conclusion more than evident she wasnt fairing to greatly against his forceful advances. No one else in the crowd seemed to care, be it out of fear of the young man's clout, or the fact they genuinely just didnt care. It wasnt there business and they figured maybe someone should go get the Elements. Though I guess one could say I had my hand forced. The girl must have bit him cause he slapped her, calling her some rather uncalled for things I wouldnt even call the raunchiest of whores. His friends brought the girl to her feet, holding her, which only added to the heat boiling my blood. He gave her a second chance to accept his invitation, to which she kindly spat in his face. Outraged he raised his hand to strike her again, which was my que to step in as i swiftly caught his wrist in my grip. "Hey handsome, I think she may not be into sausage if you catch my drift, but I wouldnt mind seeing what you have to offer, besides I think you've made your point. I think its in your best interest if you leave the pretty lady alone." I advised, my bi'qaj accent laced on every word as I stared down the asswhole and his lot. Never easing my vicegrip on his wrist, which wasnt much but enought to stop his impending slap, I gave him a look with a smirk that could only read as "Try me", but of course bravado outweighed common sense in this situation which I wish he would have considered. The young man wrenched his hand from me, threatening to kill me, to which I laughed hysterically. "YOU'VE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME!? ARE YOU FOR REAL?!" I couldnt help but blurt that out as it was actually pretty funny to me. I mean I wasnt all that well versed in full on close quarter combat, but I could sure as hell use a trident, to which I happily unsheathed mine. "I'm telling you now threatening me is not a good way to leave here in one peace. Dont let my pretty eyes and flirtations fool you handsome, I'm not one to be fucked with, unless you buy me dinner first then we could get to that point. I warned and try to seduce, though I knew it was going through one ear, flying through an empty space, and out the other ear. Wanting to save face the handsome man drew his sword and lunged forward, the crowd filling with minor yelps and gasps, my yawning in boredom. Was he for real? I know newborns with better form than his, what a joke. Shaking my head, I quickly unsheathed my trident and caught his blade within its intricate prongs. "I got you know handsome." I teased, pressing him back and into the tavern wall. "Looks like you got one of two choices, leave and never bother the lady again, or continue our little dance and end up in jail, or worse dead. So whats it gonna be handsome?"

♆ The crowd had gathered around us, and having an audience allowed for me to try and educate the masses. " Gather round everyone, what we have hear is a case of the self-entitled thinking they can have their way with those of a lesser standing than them. This prick thinks he can have this lovely young woman just because of the stock he comes from. Whether any of you acknowledge this or not, it is the harsh and sad reality of this world. But it doesnt have to be. You see this kind of behavior occur and allow it to repeat itself over and over again. When will you make them accountable for their actions? How many mothers, sisters, daughters, and for some of you out there, sons will continue to allow yourself to be used in such a manner?" I engaged, wrenching the bastard's sword from his hands by twisting my trident, causing the man to stumble to his knees. "Why dont you be a good boy, and apologize to the beauty so almost damaged. If you dont I may just end up giving you the right treatment, and fore-warning, I'm heavy hand so my slaps are gonna hurt like a bitch handsome." I teased, caressing his neck with the jagged prongs of my trident just to make the young aristocrat bastard know that it wasnt a request. Fighting through the embarrassment, the man apologized, and with it was free from becoming skewered on the end of my weapon and more importantly to him, my flirtations. With his tail between his legs his friends scurried him off from the area, to which i enjoyed watching. Nothing better than showing some idiot the error of his ways. The crowd applauded and gave me praises asking all kinds of questions, but I wasnt having any of it. "Dont clap for me doing something anyone of you could have had the courage to do. Someone, anyone could have easily stepped up or went to get the Elements for U'frek's sake, but the sad reality is that you are all cowards. I was simply in the right place at the right time, nothing more and sure as shit nothing else." I snapped holstering my weapon. Before he could make my departure as im sure Sylvia was looking for me by now, the tavern girl & bar owner stood in front of me and handed put a pouch in my hand. "Sooooooo what's this for?" I asked, curious, bouncing it in my hand to try and ascertain its contents. She told me it was all she could offer, for helping her in that tight spot. I laughed right in her face. "Silly girl, even if I had'nt been there, I'm positive these good citizens would have stepped in.......after the first few slaps maybe. I said patting her head as I passed by her and her boss, looking into the pouch to see gold nels. "Try not to get raped my dear girl, it be a shame if you did as none of these cowards can help you." I reminded as I placed the well earned coin somewhere safe on my person and began to make my way back to the Element Station. When I arrived, it seemed i had some explaining to do. Standing outside waiting for me was indeed Sylvia, a grin from ear to ear on her face. She had someone with her, a woman and as I got close I realized the importance that radiated from her. "Time to put on your best self Sisi" I told myself as I mentally prepared to make a good first impression. Sylvia introduced the woman, Eshilda who explained to me that she was at the tavern where the incident occurred. She took note of how I handled the situation, no casualties other than a very hurt ego. She asked me what brought to wanting join the Elements. I couldnt help but chuckle as my answer was as honest as it could have ever been. "Well to absolutely honest, I have a 300 gold nel debt that I need to pay off as soon as possible, and what better way than to keep Scalvoris safe and get paid for it ya know." The woman just stared but after what felt like and endless trill, she smiled, if you would call it a smile, and welcomed me to the Elements. She told me to report back here in the morning to receive my first orders as an Element. Excited beyond comprehensible words, I hugged the stoic looking Element, gave Sylv a kiss on th echeek and made my way back to my boat, had to get some rest, morning would come early and last thing I needed was to be late on my first day. ♆
