New Renown Tracking!
Further to the pre-emptive plea yesterday the new tracking system for Renown has gone live.

You will see that your Renown is still under your avatar etc - but you can no longer change it in your UCP.

When a Peer Reviewer or Mod gives you renown from now on - they will do so with a new automated system. Your review will say something like "I've awarded you X renown" as normal, but you don't have to do anything.

To see your new, automatically updated, renown ledger (one less table to keep track of yay!) - go to your UCP then click on the Character Tab.

You will see that the first section is "Renown" (we hope [HOPE] to do this for XP, WP, Faction Points etc) - and there is your ledger. This will populate with every award of renown and the most recent will always be at the top. It links to the thread and peer mods / mods can give a reason for it, if appropriate.

My number is wrong!
If you either were not able to update your UCP renown OR you were on more than 1,000, please post a PSF ticket linking to your Ledger and asking for the update - we will then simply add the appropriate amount, linked to that PSF ticket.

What if something goes wrong!?
We can remove erroneously given renown, don't worry.

What about my ledger?
You should keep a copy of your LEGACY ledger somewhere. Maybe in your plot notes or in the bottom of a post at the end of your CS or something. But you no longer need to keep a renown ledger in your CS. You can, of course, if you choose to, but mods and peer reviewers can view your ledger.

This negates the need for a whole lot of record keeping and is the first of a few of these updates we are hoping to bring out. Massive thanks to Tech Guy who is simply fantastic. Hope this helps - if you've got any questions / notice anything - feel free to drop me a PM!

Best

New CS Tracking!
IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE POST ABOVE RE: RENOWN TRACKING - PLEASE DO SO FIRST! It tells you where to find these things (User CP > Character)

We have included the following in the new UCP CS tracking.

  1. Wealth Tracking - this will now keep a track of your Wealth Points. It will deal with both points IN and points OUT. It means the following:
    • In your next Wealth Claim (or Review Request where you ask for WP) you need to provide the amount of WP you currently have - link to your CS Ledger. You can also pop in a PSF ticket if you'd rather.
    • WP can then be awarded in a Review - or as per your Wealth Claim. The process for claiming doesn't change.
    • To SPEND WP please put this in your Review Request also (so "Bought a horse: please deduct 10 WP" or whatever).
  2. Faction Point Tracking Currently, this is available for the following factions
    • Lightning Knights
    • Shadow Quarter
    • Forged
    • Lovalus Wardens
    • Order of the Adunih
  3. It will be dealt with by the city mod / mod overseeing the faction.
  4. XP Tracking - Threads will be awarded XP as normal - you claim as normal. But from now on, every thread that earns XP will appear in your XP ledger - again - pop a post in the PSF with a link to your CS and your current total, and we'll put that legacy amount in for you, if you want.
  5. Thread Lists Your XP tracking doubles up as that
  6. Please note - This keeps track of your TOTAL XP only - we WILL have a system for you "spending" XP (so a running total as well) - but we don't have it yet. This is the first step of it - so keep your XP and Knowledge Ledgers, please, in your CSes.

If you have any questions - drop me a PM. But once again - you are MORE than welcome to keep your own lists if you want to. If you don't want to - that's fine. However, you MUST provide your Wealth Points before any change occurs in your Wealth Ledger.

Also - the legacy lists must be kept somewhere (do NOT delete them). Bung 'em in a Plot Notes post, and revel in not needing to keep these lists!!

Addendum:

When Spending Wealth Points
A player has raised the question: "How does this wealth tracker handle any spending of WP that doesn't happen in a thread?"

The answer I've given is:
Peg wrote: This is step 1 of the process. Sooooooo

"For the moment - you simply put a note at the end of any review request. It doesn't have to be linked to the review, it's just so that we know to do it. Put (for example)

Bought: 5 horses: 2 WP - please deduct.

You don't have to buy the horses in the thread.

Step 2 will be (Tech Guy is working on it now) that you will be able to take WP from your own total with a reason / explanation attached. So it will be player-run at that point."

Hope that clears that up.

New CS Tracking!
IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE POSTS ABOVE RE: RENOWN TRACKING - PLEASE DO SO FIRST! It tells you where to find these things (User CP > Character)

As promised, we have (who am I kidding, Tech Guy has and I've been confusing!) updated the UCP Character Sheet. I'm really happy to announce the following:

  1. Addition to Wealth Points Feature
    • Players can now spend any Wealth Points they have. This feature is in the top right of your Wealth Points Ledger. It has the following sections:
      • How many points would you like to spend? please put in the number you want to spend here. No negative values, it will not go through if you do.
      • What are you spending them on? this is the description of what you're spending them on. You need to write something here, in order to keep a track.
      • URL of thread if applicable again, what it says on the tin, really. Leave this blank if there is no URL.
    • The Wealth Point Ledger is displayed in the order that the transactions happen - thus, we can keep a running total.
    • Our plan is for this to be linked to the UCP display of your Wealth Tier - so you won't have to change that in the UCP any more, it just auto updates. As and when that happens, you'll need to make sure your UCP is correct - but you can continue to request that a Peer Reviewer removes your WP in a thread review, if you'd rather not do it yourself.
    • If you want to keep your own list, you certainly can do that. Our plan is that we will be creating a code where you can import the data from this into your CS, which is formatted how you like.
  2. *NEW* Language Feature
    • Peer Reviewers can now identify a thread as a "Local Language" Thread. (as per this . The mechanics of this are:
      • A PC can have no more than 2 Language Threads in one cycle.
      • If a PC already has 2 Language threads in that cycle - the 3rd one will just not award them a language point. If it's a collaborative thread - all other pcs will be awarded it.
      • If a PC gets awarded a Language thread that they don't want (they're just visiting Scalvoris for a day, for example) - it can be removed by a peer reviewer or mod.
    • This then displays in the Language Ledger per Language, per Cycle.
    • There is a running total for each language.
    • This negates the need for you to get Language Threads "approved" - as they already have been by the Peer Reviewer / Mod. Once you have the requisite number of threads identified in the link above you can assume you are at the appropriate level.
    • In your wealth thread claim - you can just put your +1 language bonus and say "See UCP Ledger".
  3. Addition to XP Feature
    • This is now dated with the IC Cycle and presented in date order.
    • This date is taken from the first post of the thread, so should be accurate.
    • This means that you now have your dated thread list auto-generated and do not need to keep it in your CS if you don't wish to.
  4. Addition to Faction Feature
    • The Factions are now given individual tallies.
    • Faction threads are dated and stored by date.

** A Note On Languages **
We are going to slowly populate the list of languages. This is because this list is easy to add to - but more difficult to take away from. Those of you who volunteer time to help the site in some way will have access to the volunteer forums, and in there we are discussing languages. Therefore, rather than do something which we then change, we're going to do this cautiously. Initially - only languages which we are 100% sure of will be there. If you want to be involved in these sorts of discussions, consider volunteering as a peer reviewer, wiki worker, or mod. The more of us there are, the more we can collectively do!

That doesn't mean that you can only claim those in the list - if you've been building one that is not in the list, keep using the old system for it.

As and when we release the language changes - we will be sure to deal with it fairly and carefully.

If you have any questions - drop me a PM. But once again - you are MORE than welcome to keep your own lists if you want to. If you don't want to - that's fine. However, you MUST provide your Wealth Points before any change occurs in your Wealth Ledger - and if / when we link Wealth to your displayed Wealth Tier, that will require this section to be accurate. However, that's literally just putting in any spends which take you over a Wealth Tier threshold - so you'll be inputting a number here rather than editing your UCP / Wealth Tier. And, of course, you can always ask a Peer Reviewer to do it for you.

Also - the legacy lists must be kept somewhere (do NOT delete them). Bung 'em in a Plot Notes post, and revel in not needing to keep these lists (yes, revel in it!)!! If you like your lists - you're free to keep them and you can revel in the ones you have on your CS!!

Quality of Life Update
A single new feature today - but a REALLY helpful one!

Request A Review
You will see at the bottom of every thread - next to the "Post A Reply" button - there's now a "Request A Review" button.

If you click that button then it will
  1. Take you to the current review request thread.
  2. Open up a new reply from you
  3. Populate that new reply with the Universal Template for "Autofill Review"
  4. And then, it will add the URL of the thread you've just come from to that template in the correct place.
This is a real convenience for us all and, even if you choose not to use the new [skill and [knowledge tags, you can use this and it will input the link to the thread and location for you.

Massive thanks, once more, to Tech Guy!

Quality of Life Update
A single new feature today - it's the return - and improvement on - a previous feature.

Character Notes!
Go to your UCP
Go to the Character Tab
Then - Click on Character Notes
To start a new Note - click "Create a new note"
These notes save every 2 seconds - you can make as many of them as you like - and they're your own to do with as you like.

This is great - we need to give Tech Guy a national holiday dedicated to him.

Enjoy!!!

Testing A New Feature.
Hello!

So - Tech Guy has come up with a new feature for us and would like us to test it.

In your UCP > Character tab there is a new SKILL (ALPHA) section. This is something which he has put together which would replace (FOR THOSE WHO WANT IT TO!) the skills ledger. It wouldn't replace your XP counting or anything - but for those who don't like coding, find tables tricky, etc, this would function as a place where you manually input your skill level and number of knowledge.

We would very much like to (as it says in the tab) get your feedback - so there's a feedback thread here. Please offer constructive feedback there!

Things to point out!
  • It's an alpha, please keep this in mind as anything you configure could be lost
  • Give us feedback yay!
  • Timescale on the full version could be days or week, we don't know yet
  • Please do not use this "instead of" any other ledgers currently. Feel free to use it "as well as" to give it a thorough testing. We'd love that!

Thanks all!

Mer!
Hello!

So, following a chance discussion in a city discord, we've realised that there's some inconsistencies happening with the mer race. The write up says nothing about whether mer can breathe air while in their acquatic (tailed) form.

We are aware that, hidstorically, people have played them as being able to breathe air - and also that there are answers in the Q & A forum which say they can't do that. Therefore, we've had a quick convo with Squirrel as Lore Analysis and the following has been done.

1. We've added this text to the Mer write up, under the heading "Waterbreathing"
While in their aquatic (tailed) form, some mer are able to breathe air, while others are not. This seems to be random in terms of happening and is considered little more than a quirk by most mer societies. Whether a PC mer is able to breathe air in tailed form is down to player decision at creation and should be made clear in the CS when put for approval. As this is an addition to lore upon the discovery of an inconsistency, those who have been playing mer historically (ie: approved before 10th May 2022) should simply continue to play their mer PC as they have been, as this is written in RP history.

This is the only way to be fair to existing and historical pcs and allow them to keep their pc concept.

I have also added a description to the Q& A forum and the Q & A Archive forum. Basically - don't take stuff in there as canon - things get out of date, sometimes quickly.

Hope that works for everyone!

Hey Hey people,

We've put it to vote, and decided to change the language of the Magic Mentor NPC Application to reflect the way it's been handled for quite some time, and make that clear to players reading it for the first time.

Previously, in years past, there was a guideline for what a magic mentor could have each of their skills at. We've since relaxed that restriction by allowing them to have no more than 250 xp across their skills, with no more than 3 magic skills out of those. This can include mundane and magic skills at any level. We only ask that the skills make sense with the mentor's background and place in the world, as we'll still be checking to make sure they are sensible of the lore.

Otherwise, this is more a clarification than a true rule change, but hopefully it'll allow people to be more creative with their approach to the development of these NPCs.

All other restrictions to Magic Mentors still do apply.

Thank you
