Effigy!
Hey, there's been a lot of new systems stuff lately! Let's do something from the mechanical side.

First off, The Effigy of Kuvarakh has now been released for play: wiki/index.php?title=Category:Effigy_of ... f_Kuvarakh

Secondly, after concerns were raised about how profound the Effigy changes are, an edit has been made to the main Effigy page. Bearers will now be able to hide the more overt traits of Effigy (everything but the initial manifestations) when they aren't using their Effigy powers.

Staff Changes
We are very sorry to announce that Trouble has decided to step down from the Mod team. Trouble has given us a lot of time and come up with the fantastic Settlement System we have now, has reworked Emea and Dreamwalking and has been an all around team player in the staff team. They will be missed.

We'd like to extend our very sincere gratitude for all the effort Trouble has put in to the site over the years and wish them all the very very best!

Hello players!

Dreamwalking Version 3 has been developed by the lovely and talented Trouble. This new version has many differences from Version 2, and much more of focus on the dreams and dreamworld itself than on metamagic feats.

Which, speaking of metamagic feats, we've done away with the old techniques such as Governing, escorting, etc.. There may be new techniques and abilities within the new skill write-up that resemble those old powers, but for the most part what is possible within Dreamwalking is all within the new version of the skill.

Speaking of skills, it's now treated as any other skill, with a scale of 0-250 xp, and xp can be spent on Dreamwalking the same as any other.

Grandfathered characters that had dreamwalking points through the old progression system of Dreamwalking will have their old points totals converted to the new scale. See the diagram below for how that stacks up:

Thanks to Leander for this very useful and great table!

As you can see, the number in parenthesis (which is on a scale of 0-100) is signifying what the old Dreamwalking total is. While the number out of 250 to the left is what your new skill is.

Depending on where you fall on xp totals, you will be granted numbered Dreamwalking knowledge to correlate with your new level from novice-master. Simply link back to this announcement where you claim those knowledge.

Minor Edit / Clarification:
We've clarified the rules for the large renown reward dealing with the flavor npc followers.

We've edited the write - originally, the reward was:
"A new group of flavour NPC followers who are absolutely loyal to the PC. (Insert amount) NPCs with 50 skill points each, which must be spent on no less than 5 and no more than 30 skill points in any one skill per NPC. Must be approved via the PSF. These NPCs are meant to be 'background' NPCs and do not increase in skill, etc. However, should one be lost / die - they will be replaced in the next season so that the number of followers stays constant. Unlike usual Settlement NPCs, these may be added to a settlement with no corresponding impact on Order."

To ensure clarity - we've added in:

"This group can have names and identities and unique skills particular to each personality. However, should one of them die the replacement must assume the same skillset/skills as the deceased at the time of their creation."

Wealth Claims!
Another new feature from Tech Guy!

Ok - so you will see that, at the bottom (and top) of every thread there is a new button.

We now have:
  • "Post Reply" (does what it's always done!)
  • "Request an XP Review" - posts directly to the review queue and auto-completes the form for you (always includes thread, location - if you've used the [skill and [knowledge tabs, then the skills used and knowledge requested are filled in too (see previous announce for clarity if you don't know about this!)
  • "Claim Wealth Thread" - this is NEW today! If you click this - it will automatically post a wealth thread claim in the correct thread for you.


Auto Posting Your Wealth Claim

From the thread which you are using as your Wealth Thread, just click that button. You'll see that it posts some code in the Wealth Claim Thread.

This is now a very swish automated system where - for example - we tell it once that you have a capstone or renown reward - and it applies it every time. Because Wealth has a lot of moving parts, then we want to make 100% sure that we've thought of everything (we've very thoroughly tested it) - so we are asking for the whole information (links and all) please.

That said - if you've given us the links for your Language Fluency Bonus or your Loyalty Bonus above - you don't need to do it again here.

When we modnote your wealth claim We'll let you know what - if anything - should always be put in to "additional" information - and what you can just sit back and not tell us about any more!

Can I post an old-style wealth request?

If you want to. However, this will do things like list your wealth threads in your UCP with the Wealth Skill used, etc - save you keeping links etc. It is a much better system - and it will save us as mods a whole heap of time. So, if you want to stick with the old-style, you can - but we'd like it if you gave this a try.

UCP Character Tab
Your UCP Character Tab has a new section:

"Wealth Bonus" - this lists (or will, when you've submitted them!)

1. All your Wealth Threads, in a list - and what skill they used.
2. It THEN lists all the Wealth Bonuses (so +3 to your Wage from Renown) that you've accrued and which are applied every time.

New Guide!
I've been promising - here it is

The Guide to the Automated Review System . Feedback that we've received from those who have used the system has been good (although there is inevtiably some 'change=bad' too). It's certainly helping to focus - and it doesn't have to be used.

PLEASE note the plea at the bottom.
  • You do not have to use the [skill, [knowledge, [loss, etc code at all. We are hoping to tie them in more and more to the UCP Character Sheet (eg: assigning knowledge etc) but that's a way in the future yet.
  • However - if you could use the "Request an XP Review" button at the bottom of each thread, that would be great. It really helps Peer Reviewers, because it generates the "Issue Rewards" button on your review, which makes our lives a lot easier.
  • If you've identified no skills, knowledge etc in the posts themselves, you can just put them in to the auto-generated request just as you normally would.

Skills Tab: Beta
We now have the next stage of our Skills Tab.

This Time!
Go to your UCP
Click on the "Character" Tab
You will see that you have a "Skills" section.
  • It gives you your "Available To Spend" pool at the top.
  • You can add a Fast Track Skill (only one)
  • You can add Magic skills (but not as a Fast Track!)
  • As you add points to your skills, it takes away from your XP total - you can not "over spend"
  • You can add the number of knowledges you have.
  • When both XP and Knowledge have reached the appropriate thresholds, you go up a level.
  • It shows you how many XP and Knowledge you need (on the bar) to get to the next level.


Also!
  • You can click on someone's name and - on their profile if you scroll down, there's the Skill List for that PC.
  • You can also see their XP Ledger.
  • You'll soon see that you have an additional 107 XP awarded from "Tech Guy" which is your "Starter XP" (you want to be able to spend it, after all!)
  • In order to confirm the "Bonus XP" you got on CS Approval (they are listed in your Character Wiki) please EITHER PSF and request or add a note to the bottom of your next review request asking for the additional XP from your CS Approval (and link to your Character Wiki).
  • Same for additional XP gained from Blessings / Renown. / Any other discrepancy.
From now on - every review will add to your total and "available to spend" total (till you've spent it!)
Next Time:

We are currently working towards the next stage. This will have the following features:
  • Assigning the knowledges claimed in a review to a particular skill.
  • This will then add to the total on your "bar"
  • Assigning magic XP specifically to the magic it is awarded to


Therefore - if you are going to be using this system - please can you make it a priority to get your lists up to date / correct.

There will be an "Opt Out" toggle for this system - which will mean that none of the ledgers / etc show on your profile. The default will be to be opted "in"

As always, an enormous thank you to Tech Guy. The hours of work he's putting in to the site is amazing.

Hello people,

After a quick vote, we've made a change to the Duplicity Dress/Suit, changing it to the Duplicity Outfit. This changes the item from this:

This item is either a dress or a two-piece suit (shirt/blouse + pants/skirt). It can change appearance twice per trial, but can never deviate from its original design (ie. a duplicity dress can only shift into other types/colours of dresses). The wearer only has to picture what they wish to be wearing in order to activate the item. When the item changes appearance, it can look like anything from rags to a ballgown and can be any colour(s) the wearer imagines. It will never be warmer or cooler and will not add any other advantages. If purchased as a two-piece suit, both pieces must be worn simultaneously to work. Damage to the fabric renders the item useless.

To this:
