Ah nostalgia. So beautiful and yet almost sadening that the past is gone forever. All that lasts is a fond memory. Never again can one go back and relive these things exactly the way they were. And there is that strange feeling from inside, a longing for what is lost...

Well, I had been thinking of someone I used to RP with in an old dead site, not naming her, but she was the best RPer I was lucky enough to RP with. Her writing would lift mine up, somehow, and it was amazing, like flying. She was certainly a better RPer than I and all I can say is I miss and think a lot about old friends like her that I've lost along the way. Last I heard she was studying in quite a highly regarded profession, I wish her the very best.

I always think about why I started here, perhaps it was because new memories are to be made and my role in staff is to help create a place for others to experience the same joy I did. In time, there will be nostalgia to share with the old and I hope memories of this place will inspire others. So here I am with brilliant, talented people on this site, with a world far more brilliant than my last site of origin - I hope to RP soon and dance words with them.

I'm sorry I'm only just now reading this.

I agree with you so completely on this. I've had roleplay partners in the past that were absolutely excellent but there was one that I truly felt lifted my creative level and progressed my writing to what it is. Granted, it's not the best but it's not what it was and for that, I'm thankful. Even more that I had such an amazing time with them. The stories we wrote together were the best mental movies my mind has ever conjured up.

I remember when I went in for surgery and I had the best dream of a quest we roleplayed. I started telling the nurses about it, waking up from anesthesia. Needless to say, there were many laughs.

I miss those days too, and the past that we had. You never know what the future holds and even though it was just stories and writing, it was fun. It was among the many reasons I wanted to start a place like this. Not only for writing but to also encourage the same fun environment my partner and I experienced. Even though the site has a long way to go, I'm glad that even as we're starting out, even before right now, people always felt welcomed and invited. Even more so, a lot of them we've befriended.

Like you! We totally befriended you. Lol!

Much love, Shards. <3

I must completely agree with Jade. Not only in the overall truth of your sentiment, but also that I'm not sure how I missed this before.

There is a unique quality in the ability to do that. I say this because sometimes I find a post somewhat inhibited by the need to avoid god-modding. It's like "Boy if I could just add the description of their reaction, it would really complete the scene."

And while I'm not necessarily saying this is untrue, it HAS to be acknowledged that much of that inspiration is because of what the other player's set-up allowed me to visualize in the first place. I remember getting a "featured thread" award, on a two-player story, and seeing many comments about MY contribution alone.

At first it was very satisfying, but it started to bother me shortly thereafter, and I tried to be sure to make it clear that none of my stuff would have been possible without the generous set-ups the other player gave me. She made it so easy for me to grasp the approach I needed for my ensuing post. I did several more threads with that same player, so I feel sure that she knows how much credit I give her for that thread's success.

I don't believe she is here though, and that is sad.

As for post-anesthetic rambling. The only one I remember is that when I deliriously asked the doctor if he'd ever been told that he looked like Kevin Costner, the nurse cracked up, and he made a face at her.

Delayed reply, but appreciate the words Jade, what a beautiful mission statement, to bring the same joy as what was experienced.

Eddfick, perhaps its the idea that RPing involves 'giving'. Giving time to read, comprehend, absorb and respond to another. Giving inspiration and ideas for the other to build upon. Thanks for that comment, the last part had been laughing!

---

Time has not been a friend of late. It was was always around once. Now, never comes by at all.

Now, it's priorities, important, urgent, faster, roads, lights, flash, night, blind, go. Faster like a spinning wheel, of a bike, whirring faster at every turn, faster and faster. Yell STOP! Wait. Now go. Keeps on going, quicker, quicker, don't stop or you'll fall backwards. At the summit? Now down the other side, increase momentum, up the next crest.

Out. Out from all the pace. Out from all the space. Out from time itself. What do we see? A trail of nonsense meandering around crystal lights. Crystal lights? Have you forgotten? Once they shone bright. But you went about them, around them but not to them. Now consider them. Take one light. Within the eyes of blue stares back. My eyes! My eyes of another. Protect and guide this above all else. Take another light. The scent that pangs the heart. Hold that one. Crystal shards - do hold them dear.

All else shall dim. The folly of our kind. Time, come now, for I see where you must go.
