The Fortune Teller.

Looking at the relief on the fortune teller's face, Tio knew that he'd made the right choice in telling the truth. She and her family would mourn for a long time, that was true, but with this closure it sounded like they might finally be able to move on with their lives. However Tio didn't think he had the mental fortitude to withstand a meeting with Kitty's parents, to see them grieve when he knew that if he'd paid a little more attention, if he'd just tried a little harder, then Kitty might've still been alive to reunite with them. There was only so much guilt he could stand. "I'm sorry, really I am, but I don't think I could stand to see your parents grieve. Not when it was me who failed to save her. But please, let them know I tried, and that I'm so sorry I couldn't do more. If they ever need to find me then start by asking around Almund or Faldrass for me. My name is Tio Silver."
His sombre mood was broken in an instant however when the fortune teller told him Kitty's real name, and the yludih couldn't help himself from breaking out into laughter there and then. It wasn't a mean, mocking laugh though, but a light and good natured one. If he hadn't believed in destiny, fate or whatever other name people had for it before then he certainly did now, because there was no way that all of this could have fallen together so neatly by chance. "No way?! Oh this is too perfect! So Kitty's name was Cat the whole time?! Ha, I always knew my nicknames were special."
Now convinced that this prophecy would be no mere con, but a genuine insight into his future, Tio listened very carefully as Joelle told the message the bones had for him. Being surrounded by water almost certainly meant that he would be at sea, so chances were that this would occur during his piracy work. But a silver key? Baking bread? What was that supposed to be about? And what gift given to him was it that wouldn't save him.
At her last question Tio began to frown, but changed his mind half way through and flipped it into a grin. "I don't know what exactly it is I'm supposed to be too late to stop, but-... no, I don't see why it should be. I'll admit that our meeting here makes it impossible to doubt the existence of destiny anymore, but that doesn't mean I believe my future all written out for me already. I'm never changing who I am, and that's a fact!"
He stood up, and offered Joelle a hand to shake. "Thank you for delivering the message to me, it's been very eye opening, but I think it's time I took my leave. After all you'll be wanting to give your folks the news I suppose." He paused as a thought struck him. "Oh, before that though I don't suppose you have any spare fortune telling equipment you'd be willing to sell to me? And spare tarot decks or bones? After today I think I'll pay a bit more attention to what they tell me. I'll pay generously of course; after all you've done for me today you deserve it."
Whether she had anything to sell or not, Tio thanked her again and said his goodbyes. He began to walk away, but after a few steps another thought struck him and he turned around to shout a final message to her. "By the way, I should have mentioned but-... in her last moments Cat was smiling; genuinely smiling. I don't know why I'm afraid, but she was. I hope that's of some comfort to you."
