To: My dear friend, Kura
Thank you so much for the beautiful parrot you bought me, I have named her Nargul, and I am deeply grateful. Birdsong is such a beautiful thing, but it is certainly messy! And with so much noise, it's a wonder I sleep. Later, I'll send a runner to our mutual friend. Then, I'll need to see if I can pick up some seed. Have you any that you recommend, my dear? As you know, I'm positively clueless!
Zola and Katrianne send their regards, to you and yours. Also, I have gossip! Robert - the man who you said was showing an interest? Brilliant detective work, you! Love is in the air, it seems, and he's proposed to Zola. As to Katrianne's love life? Colour me clueless! Katrianne denies that there's anyone, of course. But, I hold out hope. You know how it is, being their mother, the worry is constant. All I want is them to be happy, after all.
Zola says that she wants a spring wedding. After everything we've been through this arc, after George's death and all the rest of it, I think that's a lovely idea. Almund isn't really the place to get married, though, they're thinking of somethings more romantic, she says. Romantic, indeed! Unless she's planning on spending a fortune, where doesn't matter. She says that I am missing the point!
If you are able to Kura, we'd love to see you. Nargul included!
George would be so proud of her, wouldn't he? My own concerns and grief seem a little further away when I think of Zola being happy. After all, it's all a mother wants and need. Goodness! I'm growing sentimental! Can't have that, so, let me change the subject a little.
Quite recently, I went to the Bazaar and saw a man selling owls. Understandably, that gave me some pause. Even for Almund Bazaar, that was unusual. So, I asked him who bought thing, what was the market for them? Turns out, they're very popular because of their personality and cleverness. I had no idea! Of course, I didn't buy one, though, before you ask! Nargul wouldn't like that, I'm quite sure! Still, I thought it was interesting and something that would make you smile.
Also, I have a favour to ask you. Before she goes more into this wedding planning, Zola has asked me to request this of you. Our very lives are dependent on you and she was hoping you might officiate the ceremony? Understand that you are invited, one way or another. There is no pressure on you, our wonderful friend, only kind regard and fondness.
Sadly, I must end this letter, soon, and get on with my trial. Lots to do, it seems!
Always know, Kura, that you have a friend here. Vhalar can not come around again soon enough. Enormous love to you and yours.
Sincerely.
Jaqueline de Flleur.
