Q&A is always a favorite forum of mine
I will have more questions about the magic system. But right now I'll just post an idea for my PC. Would this work out? And can I just write it this way in the CS history and start out with a few points in arcana ? Not asking for a long answer here, short and simple is fine, even just yes or no is alright.
If I write magic into the character history, Sel’ma will learn magic from her father, a man who learnt magic during a long and hard journey outside Desnind. He tried to settle down and start a family, but as he has spent far too much time alone with his familiar the animal soul took over and he lives in isolation in the wilds near the city. Seeing how his daughter is about to share is fate and have to travel in search of her familiar, he decides to teach her magic so she will be able to defend herself in the world outside. He tells her about arcana in general, gives her an old conduit in form of a bracelet, and teaches her attunement and then also abrogation, which are the only two magicks he knows.
If I understand right, for Sel’ma the outcome would be that she has Knowledge Arcana + Attunement+Abrogation+One conduit that is purposed for abrogation. Can I let her start with this (and related skillpoints and knowledges ofc) at character creation?

It is technically possible, however, for the sake of continuity in the perceived rarity of magic, I do have to intervene on that sort of storyline in the sense that I would like to see both an NPC created that is your PC's father, who would have history with the Seekers, the faction that is responsible for the vast majority of modern arcane discoveries. Also, due to your character's father having left the Seekers, this would assume his skill level, and therefore yours, would be rather low to begin with.
Aside from those two notes, the backstory would be perfectly fine and the knowledge would be Knowledge: Arcana under Basic Knowledge, then Arcana: Abrogation and Arcana: Attunement under specialised knowledge.

Alright. Thanks for your quick answer
For a start I'm going to check out the possibilities with an NPC for Desnind.
