The Mountain Pass
The caravan of goods from Treidhart clings to the side of the mountain for dear life. The frozen bite of Oscillus winds lashes the caravan, bringing bitterness to any non-Ellune. Yet even the Ellune, who lead Snow Horses, must negotiate the narrow trail. To one side, the edges fall off to a cliff, offering death to the careless...
The trail runs for many miles to cross between the mountain range. Even there, the air is thin. Snow covers the trail and the caravan must rely on experience to guide. Many further miles must be travelled in waist deep snow and hidden ravines. After a time, the trail appears again and the descent to Port is made.
A large mountain range creates a difficult passage between Port and Treidhart. Rock, rather than ice, is laid in thin slabs to provide traction for Snow Horse and wagons. Snow often blankets the pass despite frequent efforts by the ellune to keep the trail clear. The ascent up to the Treidhart city provides the occasional aspect toward the city walls which loom like glistening shards.
