19th Cylus 719
The tunawa had spent the days after the rescue of the Fairy Court working on gathering ingredients for his new alchemy obsession. He had so many ideas for ways to use alchemy, born from his early experiments with frog slime. He had an idea that he wanted to try, and during his conversations that night at the Fairy Court, he'd garnered inspiration from an odd source. The art of dance.
So he went into the wilds, far to the north west of Yaralon. He decided to expedite his journey by riding his cat over toward that untamed wilderness. Luckily, during this Cylus, many and most of the more dangerous animals had been hunted into becoming shy of everyone that passed by. Even a tunawa on the top of a cat.
When he reached the outskirts of the forest, he hopped off of Slate, and with a salute toward the cat, headed into the thickly forested wilderness. He knew there to be nut-bearing trees in this place. He'd heard of them, and seen them at market, for sale occasionally. Of course, the gatherers who made it a point of looking for those rare delicacies, were fiercely guarded when it came to sharing their location. But Kisaik was nothing if not persistent.
Therefore, when faced with the challenge of uncovering a secret from the reticent, he did the next best thing to persuading them. He hid under their stall, until they began talking shop with their workers. He found out about the hard-shelled Macadamia, which grew from trees in Bastard's Grove. Listening a bit more, he even uncovered the location of this place, and knew when the gatherers would be avoiding the grove.
Kisaik took this knowledge with him as he went forth into the woodlands.
It didn't take long, just a few running leaps, and a good bit of hiking. Within two breaks, he found what he was looking for. The tunawa began climbing the trees, and with his pruning knife cut the nuts from the trees.
He must have sheared the nuts off of an entire thick branch, before he got the idea that this was enough. Sliding down the branch, and then back down the tree, he bounded over toward where the nuts had fallen, and began placing them in his domain bag. One after the other, he set them in there. A whole few season's supply, it seemed, and the shells of course would serve as good vessels for his alchemical creations!
After another few breaks of journeying, he made his way back to Slate, who guided him back to the gates of Yaralon, and through.
The moon was still high in the sky by the time he arrived at his home.
It was a crisp evening when he arrived at his door. He opened it, but before he could walk through, a large orange fairy fluttered out of it, flapping its wings and bearing a large nut in his hand.
"Sir Kisaik! How wonderful to find you here, I've been waiting what seems like hours to meet you!" He dropped the nut on the ground, and then alighted to its surface, balancing himself on his wings and the nut itself.
Kisaik blinked. A fairy, here? Why? And what was that nut it was standing on?
As if to answer his unspoken questions, the fairy spilled exposition, "I'm here to give you a gift, on behalf of the Fairy court. A special variety of your toseorun nuts, we know how Tunawa use them as blades... Well, we've got one that will repair itself if you forge it into a tunawa weapon."
"Oh... okay." Kisaik hummed, scratching his leafy beard of lichen. He regarded the nut skeptically, wondering how such a thing could be turned into a weapon. "What... how do I turn it into a weapon?"
The fairy beamed at the question, and then floated to the ground nearer to the tunawa, "You must take a solution of water, and imbue it with a drop of your tunawa sap. Then, soak the nut in the solution for an hour or so. Once it's soaked, you may form it, like clay. Sculpting it into a razor sharp weapon."
The fairy furrowed his brow at this, looking down at Kisaik, "I'm surprised you didn't know about Toseorun... It is very common among the Tunawa of Yaralon."
Kisaik shrugged, "Well, I suppose I'll have to learn more about it then... but in the meantime, I can shape it into a sword? Can i use the same solution to mold these macademia nuts I just gathered?"
The fairy nodded, "Perhaps. But it won't be near as sharp or durable as your toseorun."
