Wayden Wintergreen was a simple fairy. Not quite as exuberant or spontaneously effervescent as other fairies, but a kind soul, that wanted to help people. So when she saw the brave knight Kisaik fall from a great height from the sky, and land to the ground with impact, she darted off to aid him straightaway however she could. What she didn't know, was the chaos that broiled within his body, turning his bark black, and his eyes purple. The chaos was almost too much, so that by the time she descended to him, to tend his hurts if he had any, he'd held it in just about as long as he could.

Wintergreen leaned over him, and worried over his head, lending healing ephemera to his bruised body. The spirits had long since fled his spirit cloak, leaving him to his devices, as they sank back into the Beneath from whence they'd come. Wintergreen laid a kiss on his helmeted head, as the healing ephemera filled him. "Are you alright, sir knight?"

Kisaik opened his mouth, and the chaos came out as a bolt, hitting her square in the head. She was blown back, squealing and screaming. Yet when she landed, a change came over her. Fairies were creatures that tended toward chaos and mischief. Wintergreen had her moments, but this had never suited her. Yet she didn't present an antithesis to this nature either. Now, the chaos twisted her fully, changing her from a being of potential wildness to one of deepest stillness of Winter.

She rose from the ground, several inches taller than she had been, her wings turned from diaphanous blue butterfly wings into feathered wings, brilliantly white. She cast her eyes about, and soon a court formed around her, of other fairies of like nature. All considering the order of all that surrounded them. Kisaik, having relieved himself of the chaos, stood, rubbing his temple. He saw the fairy there, and blurted out, "Immortals, am I glad to see a friendly fairy face!" He cheered. But when the fairies gaze did not look pleased, but rather irked, he tilted his head. "Is something wrong milady?"

"I am Queen Wintergreen, and you shall address me by my rightful address, Your Grace!" She demanded. Then a few fairies approached her from the sides, and whispered into her ear. "You have been found to be cavorting in chaotic and wild energies. You must be tamed, corrected, and frozen."

Kisaik squinted, and frowned. "What is that, Your Grace? What does that mean?"

"Sieze him!" She said, and the fairies went about surrounding him, using their fairy magic to overpower his strength and hold him in place. Now he was in for it!

They put him in a cold shaft that sank into the ground as they formed the prison that would hold the Loshova. They didn’t seem to understand that Kisaik could break any binding, no matter how magical that held him. And so he went along with it, if only to gather more about where these ill-begotten fairies had come from and what drove them. He’d misused his chaos bolt more than once in his life, and now he’d really done it it seems, corrupting the very fairies of Sweetwine.

Oops.

He only hoped Ashan wouldn’t hold what would have to unfold against him. His friendship with the Immortal was very important to him, although the Spring Lord had made himself somewhat scarce after marking Kisaik. The tunawa understood that to just be his way. The gifts he’d given Kisaik more than made up for the absence.

Still, it would’ve been good to get some guidance or advice time after time.

So he was plopped into the shaft, sliding downward of the icy tunnel into the deep dark bottom. Except it wasn’t dark, it was lit with incandescent plant life, perhaps some of the Ishllr varieties that were said to glow in the dark. Kisaik looked to the plants, and concentrated, willing them to grow ever further, and feeding ephemeral growth so that they poked though the veneer of ice.

Finally, he got a sliver of a leaf of the shiny flower to poke through the ice, and he sampled it in his mouth, that he might remember its green lore.

But eating the flower didn’t tell him much about how to release from this prison. He knew he had powers of Loshova that could help him out of this jam, plus rupturing, but didn’t want to disrupt things any further than he had. Plus he was weakened by his darkened bark, still feeling a bit sick.

“Tsk tsk tsk.” A familiar clucking of the tongue followed Kisaik’s predicament. Then he remembered, Ripley!

“By gum, am I glad to see you!” Kisaik beamed up at the fairy, that had joined him in his prison. “Do you know how we might dig our way out of here? It appears we’re sealed tight.”

“Hmph,” Ripley crossed his arms, as he floated over Kisaik. “Well I cooould dig our way out. But have you really tried to escape yet?”

“Hmm…” Kisaik thought to himself, and then remembered his jumping spurs on his boots. He could easily clear the twelve foot shaft that he was encased in. If the top was open. “I’ll give it a shot… But it seems my Loshovaness doesn’t work on fairy confinements. Most peculiar.”

Nevertheless, one must try. So he readied himself, plopping down to all fours, and then launching himself upward to the height of the icy cylinder. As he flew upward in the leap, he noticed fairies busy about their strange activities. These were not the normal fairies of Sweetwine. These were not at all frivolous or festive as they were. These fairies were all about order, about seeing things just so, and not playing games for certain. He could feel it on the ephemeral emanations that they gave off. They were beings of order and control. He didn’t like it, and he’d wager Ashan wouldn’t be too happy with them either.

Yet, as he observed them on his way up the cylinder, he didn’t reckon with the ceiling. With a sharp PING he hit his head on the icy top of the prison, which still encased him, then he began the swift descent, sliding down the cylinder again.

As he arrived at the bottom, he stared forlornly at Ripley, and shook his head. “No good.”

Ripley guffawed as Kisaik slid down to the bottom, plopping down on his twiggy legs and armored boots. “Can’t you magick yourself out of this? You have the loud magic that makes you go zip right?”

Kisaik shook his head. “Not a good idea to do while there’s chaos about.”

“They don’t seem particularly chaotic, in fact, they seem positively boring and staid.” Ripley protested.

“It’s the chaos bolt that made them that way. As long as it’s in effect, it will only get exacerbated by magical energy.” Kisaik explained, and then stood up to inspect the icy chamber he found himself in. He touched the smooth ice, feeling for any handholds, anything he might use to climb to the top. Nothing had shown itself, yet. It appeared Ashan wanted him to find his own way out of this, and wasn’t going to lend him a hand.

Kisaik frowned.

“Ripley, can’t you use your fairy magic to cut our way through the ice?”

Ripley was about to answer, opening his mouth, when voices began appearing from above. They both looked up, and saw a pair of icy order fairies descending. Ripley disappeared just like that, when Kisaik saw them, leaving the tunawa to whatever fate they had in store.

The Icy fairies looked down on him in judgment, “You must now be subjected to the lookeyloud in the pollywatch.”

Well, at least they still had their fairy words, without regard for their lack of charm. Still, Kisaik didn’t have to think hard to guess what a lookeyloud was, or what pollywatch might be. They were going to judge him in the eyes of the fairy court, or whatever power commanded them now.

So he was lifted up by the ice fairies, and they were to bring him to the center of the fairy circle of the Ice fairies.

They brought him upwards of the icy cylinder. Thus bringing him through the top of the prison, and out into the open, where a ring of Ishallr mushrooms ringed the fairy court, and Lady Wintergreen the Queen of these fairies stood ready to hand down his lookeyloud.

Rewards Requested

Notes/Warnings: Kisaik's chaos bolt is part of an ability, Dark Bark. It's on his character sheet under inventory I believe. It results from his use of a heroic ability to raise his skill level temporarily, and subsequently he must within five days release a chaos bolt, which he does here. Except the chaos bolt hits a bunch of fairies that turn them from frivolous, wild beings into beings of order and control.

Feedback

Hello Kisaik. That Chaos Bolt. It does get Kisaik into a lot of trouble. This was an interesting read. The fact that Kisaik was able to roll with it and figure out the problem speak both well of him, and how often that ability has been at fault. Either way. It will be interesting to see if he is able to get past the new queen. Also it will be interesting to see how long it lasts. Thank you for the Read. Fate.
