Soup Kitchen &
Community Center
Image
Open at the end of 718, this is actually two buildings next door to one another with large doors connecting the two. On the left there is the soup kitchen, where anyone may come for a free, hot meal and the right hand building houses the Community Center, where individuals post jobs and tasks which they need to get done ~ and offering their own skills and knowledge in return . If someone is able, they are expected to take on a job or help out in some way in payment for the food. This is never something which is insisted on, but it doesn't need to be ~ there is a very strong sense of peer pressure and the expectation to reciprocate comes as much from the other community members as it does from the staff here.

The food in the soup kitchen is served throughout the trial and is rich and full of vegetables. Served with home made bread, it is a healthy and hearty meal which helps ensure better health for all concerned. The community center aims to improve quality of life while also bringing about community identity and cohesion. From people who need help mending a roof to those who can offer help making clothes or mending around the house. Anyone can come here and put up, or take up, one of the jobs on offer.

This place is run by Isonomia and the Order of the Adunih in tandem. Faith Augustin is often here, working or helping out; as are other Order and Isonomia members.

Pricing

There is no charge here, although the exchange of skills and odd jobs is expected, as detailed above.

Alice

Image
Race: Mixed Blood
DoB: 17th Ymiden 684
Title: None
Skills: Medicine: 65, Surgery 30, Blades (Longsword): 52, Intimidation: 45, Unarmed Combat (Brawling): 51, Strength: 30.

Alice is a blue cloak in the Order of the Adunih, but everyone knows that she's here to stop any trouble. She's a no-nonsense kind of person with a good sense of humour and a quick temper. Often, Alice can be found engaged in some contest of strength with a male patron who is larger than her. She usually wins and is most certainly not above dirty tactics to get there. She's a loyal friend who is well liked and respected among the people of the Dust Quarter - not least because it's where she came from.

Name Corporal Xithyria Manrantha Remnate Videx
Race: Ithecal (Thiussum)
DoB: 26th Vhalar, 682
Title: None
Skills: Strength 60, Endurance 60, Shield 50, Blades: Greatsword 50, Tactics 40, Abrogation 35
Marks: None

Xithyria is a Guardian for the Lightning Knights and sees his duty as the highest calling any mortal can be given. Utterly, fanatically devoted to the code of the Lightning Knights and stalwart in his protective services to the city, his strict adherence to protocol and duty is both his greatest asset and biggest weakness. Though many find his perpetually stony expression and cold, hard words affronting and abrasive, he has been known to impart a hidden great wisdom and a caring heart in dire circumstances, and looks after both the members of the city and his fellow Lightning Knights with a paternal hand. His identity as a mage is something officially recorded and recognised but he chooses to keep it mostly to himself, never discussing or using it in public until it is absolutely necessary, or when facing down a fellow mage.

Name Stalwart Valdayr Rangarian
Race: Avriel
DoB: 19th Cylus, 691
Title: None
Skills: Flying 60, Polearms: Glaive 50, Ranged Combat: Longbow 50, Fieldcraft 50, Detection 40
Marks: Favoured Palenon.

Valdayr, or Vald as he prefers to be called, is a lazy, arrogant drunk. A complete party animal and many would say a slave to his base Avriel desires, he would prefer to call himself an accomplished hedonist, most often relying on his peers to complete his work and never appearing without a wineskin somewhere on his body. However, he is also extremely sociable and open, completely unapologetic and at home in any situation, including those dire; his positive attitude and famous grin are something to brighten even the cloudiest of days. The only thing that he cannot stand, and possibly enough to bring him out of his perpetual drunken revelries, are insults to Ilaren, whom he reveres like a mother.

Name Lat'ora
Race: Sev'ryn
DoB: Saun 1, 668
Title: Melrathi Assassin
Skills: Moderator's Discretion (mod use only)

Very little is known about Lat'ora's life. What is known for sure is that she came to Desnind pregnant in 693, giving birth to her first daughter Qit'ria. She was married to the father, a member of the Order of Adunih named Fleck'ack. The pair settled down in Desnind, having three more daughters and a son after Qit'ria. But in Saun, 679, tragedy struck the Sev'ryn family. While Lat'ora was on a hunt of her own, her 11 arc old daughter Qit'ria decided to take her three younger sisters on a hunt of her own. The hunt went well, and while the girls made camp, bandits arrived. Qit'ria managed to escape and hide, but her sisters were slaughtered.

With that, Qit'ria left Desnind without a word, on a self exile. Lat'ora had other plans. She was able to track the bandits who'd killed her daughters and she slaughtered them all. Then she too left Desnind, hunting bandits of all sorts across Idalos. On Saun 40, 717, she returned to Desnind, to find her daughter Qit'ria was a mother of her own now, and a mage. Lat'ora had intended to help her daughter with her magic, just as she'd helped her husband with his own, but the Mantis of Rynmere arrived and spirited the man away, and indicating that Lat'ora was a part of them as well. She disappeared after them, and has not been seen since.

Re: [Rharne] Development Thread

Full disclosure: the Mods have every right to utilize this location as they see fit, as it can tie into any potential plots they may choose to incorporate later. :) That means any changes, add-ons, developments are a welcome addition down the road!

The Vault of the Cathedral
Image

Of the many restricted areas of the Lightning Cathedral there is one area in particular where only a select few are allowed, and that is the Vaults beneath the grand structure Ilaren resides in. The Vault is a massive storage facility that houses artifacts found throughout the Stormlands, which is why it remains so heavily guarded from the inside out; and why so few are allowed to enter this dangerous place. Here only those Ilaren knows she can trust work to catalogue and even research artifacts, while sealing away any ancient devices far too dangerous for mortals to handle. There is one in particular that Ilaren confers with over the artifacts, a former Priest who's devoted his entire life to the recovery as well as protection of every dangerous artifact he's ever found.

Besides the Immortal patron of Rharne; only the leaders of the Lightning Knights and Thunder Priestesses are usually allowed in here. The reason? Locals believe it's more of a place for archives, where important records are kept stored away inside. While that's only a cover up from the actual truth, there are questions as well as other speculations. For there is only one way into the Vaults and that is the incredibly heavy guarded door, which has also been protected by runes to maximize security.

None truly know who or what dwells within save for the select few allowed inside, and those select few are sworn to the utmost secrecy before entering; meaning they'll take the secrets of the Vault to their grave.

The Arcanist

Image
Race: Unknown
DoB: Unknown
Title: Unknown
Skills: Unknown

Next to nothing is known about the one called "The Arcanist" save for the fact he's one of Ilaren's most trusted, especially when it comes to the research of ancient artifacts. Not even the leaders of Rharne's important factions know who this person is, all for the sake of protecting this person's identity from the world. It's possible that The Arcanist could be a past champion to Ilaren, due to how much of an enigma it really is, even as unlikely as that is however The Arcanist is definitely truly devoted to the Patron of Rharne. Anything and everything else remains to be discovered in time.

OOC

Because the Vaults are where many incredibly rare and dangerous artifacts are stored, players will more than likely require moderation to even gain entry.

The Umbral Caverns
Image

Tucked way beyond the Stormwastes is an system of ancient caverns, where untold horrors are said to dwell and legendary treasure awaits. Truth is the Umbral Caverns have only ever been explored once, to an extent, because of the fact their network spans far and deep into the earth. Only the upper layer of the caverns have ever been cartographed, as the deeper one goes the hotter it gets due to the pools of magma found within.

Legend says that in ancient times the cavern used to be a mine once, abandoned in it's infant stages because of the incredible dangers found within. Treasure hunters and explorers alike can only dream of what they'll find inside, as the only cartographer who survived has warned the severity of risk in exploring. Some were foolish enough to ignore the warning however, and naturally became the examples as to just how threatening and dangerous these caverns really are. Not only do they serve in part as a nesting ground for some nasty creatures, it is also likely considered a spawning area for many Flameborn as well.

The venture to this cavern alone is not for the faint of heart, but for those who truly aren't prepared for certain death; then ultimately does death become their fate.

Guide

Players should remember that this is a dungeon free to explore, first floor only, and that the greater the risk the greater their rewards. Using the guide below, you can get a better idea on what to expect when exploring this location. Players might also wish to utilize the roll function in Discord, if they wish to make it more of a challenge.

Threat Level: Details the dangers and expected frequency of monsters/Flameborn present. There should always be a different number of enemies, as well as a change in enemy types such as switching between monsters and Flameborn, to more or less maintain the idea that the caverns is a nest of nasty creatures.

Loot Level: Pertains to the type of Loot one can take home from a certain area, loot can always be considered available as adventures are likely to come and go all the time. The difference being the type of loot available within certain areas, naturally the deeper one goes the better the loot they can take home. However it still falls up to the mods to decide what exactly the 'Loot' item is, which is done when that moderator specifies it within a thread review. The levels of Loot are as followed:

Common - Typically anything of the standard quality; From Poor- to Basic+
Uncommon - Improved quality, ranging from Average- to Good-
Rare - Exceptional quality, ranging anywhere from Good+ to Masterworks- (However chances of Masterworks are slim)
Epic - Outstanding quality loot, Masterworks- are a little more frequent and Masterworks+ are a rarity.
Artifact - These are possible to find and can fall in range of any of the Loot types, if a player wishes to find an Artifact they should discuss it with a moderator first.

Roll: Basic function used to indicate how many enemies spawn in a section.

The Westwind Ruins
Image

Beyond the outskirts of Caervalle Town and past the thickets of trees surrounding it resides an ancient ruin, a forgotten ground scholars and researchers believed to be once sacred. In order to reach the ruins one must first traverse the wilderness beyond Caervalle Town, heading north beyond the surrounding hills and trees until they reach a somberful waterfall.

The Westwind Ruins are a believed to be an ancient temple and burial ground for an ancient tribe, long abandoned with many curiosities and even dangers. Explorers who've ventured here have made the rest of the settlements aware, that not only are the ruins ripe with traps but also haunted by evil entities. Whether their spirits, ghosts, or just plain demons is unknown; only that the longer the visit in this forsaken place, the harder it is for a person to find the will to leave... much less survive.

There's also another unusual phenomenon scholars can't seem to explain, as the winds of the ruins tend to whisper things to a visitor. Things that may first sound incoherent, but clearer the deeper one goes within the ruin. It's always different for every traveler of course, but the whispers remain one of the most haunting aspect of this place.

Ashes to Ashes
Image

Opened in early 718 but barely considered a location, Ashes to Ashes is not even a building. It is a simple outdoor crematorium located on the same plot of land where the only worker and owner live. Brick and metal with the only wood being the shelf of urns for those who wish to keep ashes. A quiet area it is for any who want a private ceremony with a keepsake of their loved one. Not quiet the traditional Rharne ceremony it is usually travelers or new residents of the city who partake in these services.

Race: Human

Title: Head Undertaker
Skills: Butchering: 20
Chemistry: 20

A skinny old, balding man who goatee is fuller than the hair left on his head. His beady eyes are only enhanced by the glasses he wears, his thin lips almost invisible with his perpetual scowl, and his nose one of the more prominent features of his face is always flared in distaste. Though he is skinny he is wiry and can usually hold his own, he prefers to wear large comfortable robes. Arlec is a bland man and a bit of a drunk, gruff with no patience to speak of. A recluse who prefers the company of the dead to the living and has a mean streak he isn't afraid to use in order to have peace and quiet. He is assisted by Sola, the only other "worker" in the shop.
