What the other Velaine said to her was almost an echo of what she had told her. The young woman didn’t know what to make of it. Did it mean they have similar drives or was it just parroting back what she had told her?
Then she heard the words that make her pause. “We wish to never be alone again.” Without any warning, her mirrored self leaned in and gave her a kiss. There was not even any time for her to react.
Velaine stumbled back with a gasp as her other self pulled away. Still a bit stunned at what just happened, the young woman could only watch as her twin started taking of her earring. It was then that she realized the gem in her hand was no ordinary thing. She had never seen anything quite like it in her life. It pulsed with color, calling her and almost luring her in.
“May we go with us? So we may both be able to become more than we are.”
Her gaze met her own blue eyes as she looked closely, trying to find something that she did not recognize. Something that was not a part of her. Perhaps a hint of what or who was standing in front of her, using her voice, her skin. But there was nothing at fault at the mask worn in front of her. It was Velaine Krome looking back at her, through and through.
Still, the young woman had one more method to see someone’s true self. Her spark flickered with curiosity, cautiously reaching what the other Velaine might have in her thoughts, emotions. She was not quite sure what to expect, but she was not surprise that what greeted her was no ordinary tangle. It felt foreign, different. Not quite like the ones she usually weaved. First she found that it really wanted a friend, a companion – that part was true. Strings of bright and strong excitement were also woven everywhere, a bit chaotic but more than a little prominent. The mess of its tangle was enough to tell her what ever it or she was... She was young, yet a wisdom settled inside it.
But there was one thing that put her at ease, at least. Velaine sensed no malice from it – her.
It was enough for her to let her morbid curiosity take over and let her fingers wrap around the mysterious stone. “What– who are you?”
