The Board
The Board.
Named literally the board is quite literally a large hand crafted board placed at the center of the place that all yari know as just being the board. Around the board a large octagonal building is built sheltering the board and it’s 3 ageless stewards. However there is much more to the board than that. The area that surrounds the board is replete with it’s own small arena for disputes over quests, a black smith and all manner of traveling goods peddlers hang about hoping to catch a mercenary company about to make a trip and need provisions.
But more so than that it’s a rather unique place. The large circular courtyard that surrounds the board is perhaps one of the most peaceful locations in yaralon, even the rabble seems to clamor down while in the presence of the heart of the mercenary way of life. In the evening people would come and listen to grizzled old warriors tell tales of war and battle, and on some rare nights old rivals might duel displaying their mastery of their chosen arms.
Entering the courtyard you will find that it’s hard to mist the squat plain octagonal building in the middle. Doors during the day flung open as people hopeful for contracts milled in looking for work and glory. Thus the sisters spend each day taking in a giving out contracts to those who they deem willing. It is said that each of the sisters is a shrewd judge of character and competency, and their years of being mercenaries has left them with a grim understanding of the difficulty of some quests and the fragility of mortal forms. It is said that if you are denied a request for a bounty by one of the sisters they will duel you and only allow you to undertake the quest if you emerge victorious. Only one of the sisters has ever lost a duel in this circumstance, to a young Liandra haze. As it is though they are fair in their divvying of contracts not taking favor to any guilds nor companies the three endlessly serve out quests from all over the world to those willing to take them. The Board always a has postings of higher paying quests however beneath the counter there is a plethora of lesser duties that the sisters hand out to those who aren’t picky about contracts.
