The Eternal Embrace

The Eternal Embrace

Company Name: The Eternal Embrace

Company Size: Small

Leader: Mesadi, Guardian of the Blood Glass Crucible; Ijokotele, Raincaller of the Grove; Sinsoadal, Archdelver of the Putrid Seedling.

Founder: The Molten-Rain-Dirt Triumvirate

Contract Specialization: Poison, Harvesting dangerous plants, promotion of Tunawa and Qio'ra interests in Yaralon.

Current Defensive or Resource Gathering Duty: Medicine, keeping of gardens, glasswares, preservatives, and pottery.

Outlying Village: Glowheart Grove

Requirements for Joining: Tunawa are allowed to join either the inventive Raindancers under Ijoktele, or the adventurous Delvers under Sinsoadal. Qio'ra are allowed to apprentice under Mesadi, to become glassblowers and tenders of the crucible. Skill requirements are low for recruits, but Tunawa are expected to grow into the role of poisoners, alchemists, gardeners or sentries/scouts. Qio'ra are expected to learn the mysteries of their race's glasswork, in order to provide both the city and the Company with the vessels for their weapons and products.

History of the Company: The Eternal Embrace arose in Yaralon at least a century ago, in answer to the need for Tunawa and Qio'ra to band together as two of the physically weaker races of Idalos to survive in a hostile city. Despite their differences, namely the Qio'ra's fascination with glasswork and the flames that were necessary for it, and the Tunawa's fear of fire and love of greenery, the two peoples got on well. They even found their strengths and talents complimented each other.

In time, the dual communities made their partnership official, forming the Molten-Rain-Dirt Triumvirate. The Triumvirate was so named for the three command branches of the company. Despite it's relatively small size, with no more than 24 members at the least and maybe about 50 members at the very largest, it's impact on the city is considerable. They provide key services that are well-received by the populace, and those who find themselves on the wrong side of conflict with the Eternal Embrace often find themselves inexplicably dying, falling face first into a puddle of their own intestinal contents.

Fear keeps others from challenging their members, and a few skilled duelists keep the peace outside the company, their skills augmented by alchemy and the use of dangerous, debilitating poisons.

Additional Information: The Company jealously guards its secrets. Membership is considered to be a life sentence. Those who leave the Eternal Embrace don't last for long before turning up either poisoned or burned to ash in their crucible. Currently their exact numbers are unknown, but are thought to be no more than two dozen members strong, not including the current Triumvirate.
