Appearance
Image

The man's physique is robust and beefy. Broad shoulders and thick stalwart back support his wide and tall frame. A lifetime of working and swordsmanship have made his arms naturally solid, but with lean musculature. He has fighter hands, thick with short fingers, big knuckles, scared and calloused with square nails. Proportionate legs with large calves from fighting on the balls of his feet. Solid deltas and a thick neck support a rugged face. Piercing ice-blue eyes greet anyone who matches his gaze.

A well-kept mustache is his signature style. In the midst of combat if he cannot be identified by his bushy stache poking through his coif, a brazen blue tabard with a shining gold turkey seal is usually a dead giveaway of his presence. Adorned with the finest armor, the classical Etzori style has been revived through him and his men. The most notable piece of the style is a broad brimmed hat with colored feathers mounted on top. The adornment plume colors generally coincide the season, but sometimes they symbolize other things. He is also regularly seen adorning a red lily, given to him by Tanvi.

Red Lily
"Red Lily: This red lily is strangely special. Unsure of where it was plucked from, this flower will never seem to wilt. The color will remain vibrantly red and the intoxicating smell of the woman who wore it everlasting. There are no known abilities associated with the flower, but the memory of Tanvi will be recalled each time the flower is held."

Personality
Image
Gangui is a dangerous and grim individual in the eyes of lesser men. However, to the wise or perceptive, the man's noble origins can be seen through the veil of his untamed character. This is particularly noticeable in the way his carries himself; always standing straight, rolling his shoulders back with arms effortlessly swaying at his sides, and walking with an air of lightness on the balls of his feet. Maxims of discipline and an iron-will based on perpetually engraved ideology, controls the man's thinking; not only is this his chosen such a way of life, but is necessary to control the fires that burns within him from his Aukari lineage. This fact is portrayed through his speech, which comes from deep inside his stomach in carefully worded sentences. Living so many years outside of society has stunted his ability to have light-hearted or jovial conversations; it also leads to his preference to being alone, in the company of few strong comrades, or in the bed of a women he deems beautiful. These qualities give a gloomy and misleading aura to all those who are ignorant to the noble ways of courageous men.

Gangui is tactical and resourceful when it comes to any task or quest he partakes in, however his single-minded ways to achieving his goals leaves him with little regard to those who stand in his way. A product of his environment, the lives of those who stand in the way of good comes cheap and without remorse. That being said, Gangui abhors all torture and brings swift death to his enemies in the most efficient way he knows. Sometimes the man will go out of his way to slay torturers and those whom bring misfortune upon the weak, simply for the sake of this disdain. Chiefly knowledgeable in manual and martial tasks, the man has a hard time dealing with deceitful manipulators, ruthless political types, and sly rhetoricians. Despite these shortcomings, he is naturally a fast learning and apt at using the personal logic known as common sense.

Gangui

History
HISTORICAL DETAILS
Update of Gangui’s background in 717.
Background

Hailing from the wilds between the Westride River and Ne'hear, Gangui spent several years adventuring with a band of nomads and learning the ways of the land. Departing the small tribe, the barbarian then traveled to Etzos in pursuit of knowledge and gold. He did this all in effort to avenge his father's murderers and retrieve his family's sword from the clutches of the Aukari Lord, Naturod Glenn.

Fording the Westride was a symbolic moment in the young man's life, returning into the lands of his ancestors. Blood and toil are never far from Gangui's heels though. Not far from the City of Stone, he was assaulted by Aukari interlopers and was nearly killed before being saved by Nightshade Elm. He took a solemn vow to repay her kindness, forever in her debt.

Once he had recovered, Gangui began working and learning more about the city. Spending some time in the Museum, the noble savage learned some history from Neronin. Despite the curators best attempts to convince Gangui of he failings of the state, the man walked away more patriotic than ever. Despite these high ideals, living life in Etzos quickly turned to complete and utter shit when riots, drugs, torturers, liars, and general 'scummery' of the big city life began to become conscience in the youth's mind.

Angered at the misplaced morality of the people he met, such as Noth, Vluhariqh, and many others, Gangui tried to escape the debauchery by working outside the city in Foster's Landing. As usual, no matter where he went strife followed and once again he was assailed on the road, but this time by mages. Saved by Vuda, Gangui now was in the debt of two individuals.

Accepting the good and bad in Etzos, Gangui now makes his way back to the city to settle up on some business ventures. Although the evil he had encountered disgusts him, there were still a few good men to be found in the City of Stone.
The unabridged story written upon character creation:
A Noble Birth

In the waning days of Saun 795, a son was born to a talented black ops member named Ildiar in the fiery city of Sirothelle. The father was an exiled rebel leader from Etzos, known simply as "The Mercenary". The child was named Gangui, meaning "steely hero" in the mother's native language.

The Mercenary was hired by an aukari black ops to conduct missions in which a third party actor was required for delicate political reasons. During these times, Ildiar shadowed the band of warriors as an eye for the black ops. She kept them in line and reported any treason to her superiors in the order. Soon the two became fond of each other despite racial and national differences. After many heated nights getting tangled up, Ildiar became pregnant. The woman's loyalty was first to Faldrun and the ideology of her order and expected her son to be raised in the same manner she had been. Thus, she had the Mercenary exiled from Sirothelle to ensure her child was raised without the influence of Liberal doctrine. The Mercenary cursed the name of Faldrun on his way out and vowed to one day return for his child to teach him the pro-mortal doctrine he so beloved.

Time marched on and Gangui lived by himself with his mother without ever knowing the origins of his father. At the age of six he entered general training. The boy's talent was immediately recognized in the community and everyone was very hopeful of his bright future when he would graduate into the Occult training.
Forsaking Faldrun

In his tenth year, life as he knew it came to a halt. On one fateful night, the Mercenary burst into Ildiar's dwelling to steal back his blood, as he had vowed on the day of his exile. To this day, Gangui can still remember the dreadful night as his mother and father crossed blades in a passionate fight over custody of him. The Mercenary outmaneuvered his former lover, but he did not have it in him to slay her. Instead, he hogtied Ildiar and gagged her so she would not alert anyone of the occurrence. Knocking the boy senseless, the man stole away from Sirothelle with his son.

However, the endeavor was not over yet, because the aukari were warned of the event by Ildiar's vigilant neighbors. A long chase into the Sithortellian wilderness ensued. Several times the Mercenary was forced to scrimmage his pursuers. Finally, after a bloody chase through the forest, the Mercenary lost these hunters and escaped intact with his son. Success was not without the cost of several of his sworn vassals dying to the force of the pursuers. Angry at the results of the mission, the entirety of his forces abandoned him, because they thought the conflict insignificant to their cause.

Now alone of the wilderness, the Mercenary explained to Gangui the story of his birth. He told his son that he meant to give him training and knowledge better than any Sirothellian could provide. The Mercenary gave the boy an ultimatum to follow him. Reluctantly, Gangui agreed to his father's demands with secret plans of running away when he had the chance. In the proceeding days, he learned the true name and origins of his father, Rangar Munzorig. He was exiled from his homeland in Etzos for leading some rebel activity. Rangar did not agree with the actions of the state's leaders, whom he believed to be corrupt to the cause of Liberty, which was central to the Etzori cause.

For the next ten years, Gangui lived in the mountain ranges east of Sirothelle. At first, they lived among a small nomadic tribe. During this time, Gangui very slowly became fond of his father, but deep down he still refused the premise of being forced away from his mother. He was unable to escape due to fear of being alone in the brutal wilderness. Years raiding others tribes and Sirothellians, traversing mountains, and relentless brutality made the boy strong. Rangar showed his son that the lives of lesser men were bought cheaply for their own goals. Stealing provisions and getting things done for themselves without the help of civilization was a constant theme. Tribal self-reliance was something that Gangui learned to be incredibly valued and was the structure to allow him to produce results in his life.

It was during these times in which Rangar instilled into his son confident warrior values. However, he was not able to sway the boy's mind towards the Etzori ideology of Immortal Emancipation. Like his mother, Gangui was very stubborn and did not grasp the entiriety of what it meant to have true freedom. Rangar believed that his son had an epic destiny to lead men in a battle between with the Immortals and felt that it was his duty for instill into the boy steely virtues and the wisdom of noble men. Gangui was tougher than all the other children though and Rangar finally realized he needed to contrive a dramatic training session to abolish the indoctrination of Ildiar and set his son on a course of what he deemed was the right and noble path. To accomplish this task, Rangar would take up a symbolic quest that would consume them for several years.
Coercion and Labor

After much meditation and planning, Rangar developed a barbarous plan. He simply told his son that they would create a powerful weapon together. Thus, they began a search for Adamantium ore, a metal that had the potential to create the strongest and sharpest of blades. It took a long time until they were able to prospect a vein, in which they needed to conscript the help of professionals. During these times, Rangar subjugated, coerced, and bribed people who would refuse to help complete this task. This showed Gangui that anything was possible if one would valiantly pursue a single goal without the burden of the moral yoke that the Immortals placed upon the shoulders of man. More than ever now, Rangar slowly chipped away at the boy's natural born iron-will to break him down and rebuild him as a ruthless pursuer of Liberty and Mortal Emancipation.

Once they found the Admantite vein deep within the mountain, Rangar forced his son to extract the resource alone. The father watched on and hunted for game to support their cause, while his son swung a pick ax until his hands and muscles were broken in. The young man eventually removed tons of rock and carried it through the mountain ridge out of view of possible spies. For an entire year he dug without respite, which toughened the boy up to the harshness and reality of getting things done in Idalos. During this long, grueling era, Rangar repeated speeches and texts of Etzori values. Gangui's incredible energy was pacified by the hard labor and his mind sharpened by much argument and liberal study, which was readily absorbed, as he was in a constant state of stress and labor.
Faldrun's Bane is Born

Finally, the coveted ore was reached and they where able to extract enough metal. This is when the father revealed the purpose of their labor: they were to create a sword to defeat Faldrun himself, the Patron Immortal of his mother and Sirothelle. It all made sense to the boy now and he embraced all of the tenants of Liberty. Now, all of the memories of his past like in Sirothelle were erased and trampled to death. Steel, mortality, and logic were mortal man's superpower and the only way they could defeat their enemies. All other utopian theories were not practical at this task and would be discarded, unless a logical answer could be provided. Although Rangar knew that it would take more than an Adamantite sword to win, the point was to instill iron-clad virtue into his son and he succeeded.

Sealing off the entrance to the mine, the father and son team proceeded through the wilderness to find the tribe they abandoned years prior. Coercing the nomadic swordsmith named Hujulk, Rangar lead the team deep into the Heart of the World. Finding what was deemed a sacred spot near a pool of lava, the team set up camp. Preparations were made for the next season, the process gruelingly slow. Everything seemed finally ready to begin, but then Rangar revealed the final step in the process to his son: they were to quench the blade using the blood of an Aukari Occultist. Hujulk tried to protest, but even he could not deny the fact that the blood of an Aukari was the perfect temperature to create the most flexible and strong Adamantite. They were literally creating an anti-Faldrun blade; a symbol of freedom and hatred for Faldrun's loyal subjects. Despite being a half blood, Gangui did not associate this with his own Aukari lineage for he did not serve any Immortal.

Chaining up the blacksmith with a ration of food, they climbed back down the mountain and scouted Occultist activity from a safe distance. After much internal deliberation on tactics, Rangar picked a target and the hunt began. After a tumultuous experience, they were able to kidnap the full-blooded Aukari Occultist and escaped retaliation from their pursuers. Despite successfully escaping, the duo had been identified to the cult.

Standing on the side of the Heart of the World's volcano, the forge was fired up using the heat from the earth. Liquidizing the Adamantium, they poured it into a mold of a bastard sword. For the next ten days, the team helped hammer away until the blade was folded hundreds of times. Gangui did all the swinging, whilst the Hujulk applied all his knowledge. His father spoke words of liberty and emancipation into the blade, making his son believe that it would give the weapon magical powers.

When the blade was complete, the moment of truth came. By instruction from his father, Gangui picked up the fiery blade, speaking curses towards Faldrun. He plunged it vertically through the body of the Aukari , whose immediate combustion filled the enamored boy with awe. The men knelt in meditation until the fire died out.

Removing the new weapon from the charred carcass, Rangar held it up in the air and in a mystic fashion dubbed it "Faldrun's Bane". Thus, the final nail was pounded in the mind of Gangui, forever making him a patriot to the cause of Liberty from the Immortals.
The Gift of Fury

The trio did not escape the Heart of the World though. A prominent aukari leader named Naturod Glemn had been searching for them the entire time they were forging the blade. Capturing them, they were immediately punished. Hujulk and Rangar were hung by the arms from a tree and brutally whipped for an hour to get the entire story out of them. Cutting the swordsmith down, they decapitated him silently and without remorse. Naturod then made a proclamation of Rangar's sins in Faldrun's name. For the next hour, Gangui witnessed as theyopened up his father's chest cavity and disemboweled him slowly. The entire time Rangar screamed proclamations of liberty and virtue.

Seizing Faldrun's Bane, Naturod exiled Gangui into the wilderness locked in chains, leaving him to die alone. Trudging south a fire burned inside of him. The young man decided then and there he would one day find and slay Naturod Glemn and Faldrun.
The Long Hard Road Ahead

Gangui journeyed south with the help of nomads, whom freed him of his bonds, gave him supplies, and showed him the way to Etzos. Arriving in the dead of the coldest season, his quest for revenge would begin in the City of Stone.

Off Topic
You don't know of any name for either the sword or the ensorcellment upon it.
But it will absorb one spell up to Expert level, three times a day.
You must be holding the hilt with the knowledge of the incoming magic attack.
You will immediately understand that you now hold a spell in the sword.
You have the immediate understanding of what spell it is, and the instinctive ability to cast it out at your own discretion at a target of your own choosing.
This cast, however, does not grant you magic knowledge or teach you any spell cast this way.
And the stored spell must be spent within an hour or it fades away.
There is no sheath for it.
