True to many in Viden's aristocracy, Isthmae is an enviable creature. At a height of 6'3", he does not stand above his compatriots but with them. His posture is straight and his movements are minimilastic in nature. The Eidisi's features are angular in nature, his forehead broad and his blank white eyes make it difficult to ascertain emotion. His lips are full, however, and are prone to curve somewhat violently. Isthmae forms wide smirks and deep frowns that suit a wide berth of emotions. He uses his emotive countenance to his advantage, however, and it can be truly difficult to know his intentions by his facial expressions. His hands are prone to a light twitch, the only give in his otherwise stoic presentation. Isthmae dresses for the Videnese cold, though he avoids vibrant furs in favour of wool and cotton dyed in darker, inconspicuous colors that take the eye away from him, to some degree of success. Isthmae's coming of age has afforded him a measure of freedom. As such, he avoids the dress of the aristocracy when possible and allows himself to take place among the commonplace of Viden. His posture adapts to the situation, and his high, proud voice shifts accordingly as well.

Personality

While most Eidisi are suited towards self-restraint, Isthmae takes this to extremes of analysis and understanding. Isthmae is a heavily analytical individual by nature, his lips often kept shut as he keenly observes others and seeks to learn the ticks that color their personality. A student of psychology, the Eidisi often forms opinions and garners information from the actions and words of others, reserving input into large, social situations and keeping himself at a distance. To Isthmae, the compass of morality does not exist. He does not question his orders nor does he feel remorse for enacting them. He neither feels pity nor compassion when such emotions might prove a hindrance to his objectives. Ambition colors the edges of his personality, but even that is tossed away when it comes to the service that Yvithia requires. The Goddess and her city are at the forefront of his mind, with his heart and soul captured by both.

Isthmae's upbringing is one of absolute excess. The city of Viden is his ancestral home and the Eidisi takes this to heart. Raised in the Fahe caste, he's wanted for nothing. Education shaped the Eidisi greatly, his passions extending towards psychology and linguistics primarily. He sees language as a brush with which both hearts and minds are molded, and seeks after greater knowledge when his responsibilities permit it.

While Isthmae's work encompasses most of his life, he is not without down time. When the Eidisi is not tending to the orders of the Intelligence Authority, he is an active, inquisitive individual. Sarcasm bleeds into much of his speech, and he attempts to infuse humor into situations that might otherwise prove awkward without it. Quick to study the emotional palate of people around him, Isthmae likes to think of himself as a key with an intent to unlock the hearts and minds of those around him so as to better learn how to treat them. While not a humble man, Isthmae lacks any sort of arrogant seeming and instead treats any and all with a measure of respect that might endear him to others. He's outgoing and helpful so long as such assistance does not cross his core values.

All of Isthmae's life has been spent in Viden. The city has provided for him and with his family in such powerful positions throughout the city, he's neither wanted or needed for anything. For much of his youth the Eidisi struggled with purpose. He excelled in his studies, but never felt challenged by such pursuits. Instead, they bored him, his primary and secondary schooling only capable of taking him so far. It was Yvithia that provided him with purpose. With the imposition of her mark upon his flesh, Isthmae found new hope in the pursuit of understanding. The Goddess provided him with a task and a purpose. As such, his heart swells with love for Yvithia and there is never any thought of disobeying any request the Goddess might have for him.

Viden is the only home that Isthmae has ever known. A noble upbringing encompassed a totality in comfort that Isthmae never seemed to take for granted. He utilizes his resources for the purpose of perpetuating Viden and the interests she holds. Knowledge and secrets were poured into Isthmae as water is into a ewer. Such knowledge is something he keeps close to his heart and the purpose of such secrets is apparent to him. Tirelessly Isthmae works to ensure the city's secrets are kept.

The Fahe caste is Viden's senior nobility. The heiress to the title of Mahisi is Isthmae's sister. His father being the Head Researcher of the FRA provides a great structure and an example for Isthmae to follow. While he wishes to impress the both of them, the Xypha has long acknowledged his purpose and his father's hopes in Isthmae are somewhat strangled as a result. Not one to question Yvithia's purposes, however, there is an uneasy understanding between Isthmae and his father. Family strife is quick to carry in their conversations, for Isthmae's responsibilities are manifold and at times, in conflict with one another. Always, Yvithia comes first with both Sheud and Selek acknowledging this.

History

Grandson to Sheud Fahe and sister to the Mahisi-to-be Caeli, Isthmae grew into a world within Viden that cannot be reached by effort. Born into the blood that flows through Viden, Isthmae's early life was one of academic successes and praise. As a youth, the Eidisi was well-loved by private tutors and his public educators alike. Praised for his analytical nature and capacity for understanding the world, it was apparent from an early age that the Fahe scion was not destined for a career in academia as his father and grandfather were. He was, however, destined to be an heir. Raised to understand the etiquette of Videnese nobility, Isthmae attempts to carry himself in a way that doesn't shame his father. However, even in adolescence, Isthmae found that his path might take him a different way.

Yvithia watched the young Eidisi's path through life, both from the shadows and through interaction with the young man. From a young age the Fahe scion proved himself more intelligent than those his lineage placed him above. His sister, Caeli, often played with her much younger brother, and in conjunction with Selek fostered a deep love for linguistics in Isthmae from a young age. Growing up next to such profound figures, it might have been easy for Isthmae to be overlooked or forgotten but it was quite the opposite. Isthmae's astute nature cut him out of classes at times, his father bringing him along to meetings within the FRA so that the child might see what his inheritance was. Impressionable by nature, Isthmae was glad for such excursions and eagerly drank in the subject matter of such meetings.

The secrets of Viden were instilled within the young Eidisi and their objective made clear to him. The Great Shattering, when explained to him, utterly fascinated the Eidisi and he was very much eager to explore with his relatives the nature of it when he grew older. However, it wasn't to be. Yvithia saw something within Isthmae and while she encouraged his inclusions in the research she instead saw another avenue for his talents. Within Isthmae she saw a great capacity for discretion and a heart void of remorse. Distrust lingered heavily within Isthmae as he looked upon unfamiliar faces within such meetings. So, Yvithia decided on another path for Isthmae.

In the middle of his secondary education, Isthmae's studies changed dramatically. While lesser subjects were touched upon by his public education, his private education steeped within the nature of the mortal mind. He learned to sift through the facial expressions and non-verbal ticks that others exhibited. He was taught to listen for tone and divine intention within others. Interpersonal communication became the central focus for Isthmae's education and relentlessly he poured over tomes that studied the nuances. Politics and the matters within Viden became second fiddle to learning to investigate others while keeping them at a distance.

Isthmae grew to flourish in his education and with Yvithia's and his father's blessing he sought to further it when his compulsory education was completed. Arcs were spent learning how to pilfer knowledge from the human mind. To manipulate through conversation became a forte for the young Eidisi, but he'd learn to coerce information in different ways, as well. The tongue of a scholar mixed with the ruthless mind of a tactician, Isthmae's path is apparent and he'll follow it to its bitter end.

Housing

As heir to the Fahe line, Isthmae remains in his family home with his parents and elder sister. It is a large manor, with guest suites, servants' quarters and function rooms. The room contains an insulating double bed, a desk and accompanying chair, plus a comfy sofa chair, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. As a requirement from the law of all occupied houses/rooms in Viden, his room also contains a stove.
