Genna had rarely had a chance to visit the market in Zynyx, or honestly and real inclination to. She made arrangements for supplies but was willing to leave the actual haggling to people who enjoyed that. She did find that funny when she watched. Some people just loved the battle of the market, and loved haggling. Genna was willing to got for it when necessary but felt best to leave it to those who nature had made so include to do so. Today though she was here for something she could just pass off on someone else. Though she didn’t come alone. Pablo had been able to come with her on this short trip as they worked to retrieve something for Lovalus and to an extent Ymiden.
Genna walked down the street walking looking around Zynyx. The platinum hair woman tended to wear bright an friendly colors but on this particular trial she had chosen black. Pablo had been surprised when Genna had emerged from the cabin in the full black dress. In all of their time dating she hadn’t ever worn black. Browns and practical colors yes, vibrant colors that celebrated the world yes. Maybe a black skirt in a practical setting, but the black dress with its full length skirts, long sleeves and tight fit. The black emphasized her fair skin, but also contrasted the healthy pinks in her skin. The paleness of her hair was also emphasized, and even more so the glow that came from it because of her Ymiden mark.
Paublo was actually dressed in casual armor that would help protect him but not announce to the world at large that he was a Lightning Knight. He looked up and down at his fiancé and raised and eyebrow. “You look a bit scarry like that.” He said with a slight smile.
“Thank you. I suspect that happy go lucky Genna won’t be taken seriously by this particular crowd.” She said by way of referring to the people she had seen in the vision from Ymiden. Pablo nodded his head in understanding. “Is my bodyguard ready?” She said smiling and missing him. Pablo threw his cloak over his shoulder and nodded his head.
The two walked into the town and came to the market. They walked among the busy crowds and few people paying to much attention to them. Genna looked around trying to find the individual that who had appeared in her vision from Ymiden. There had been something about the individual that was nagging at her. She could sense the person was selfish and had a air of someone who didn’t care what he did. The young woman was aware that the vision showed her more then what could normally be seen, but it had shown her who she was looking for.
Genna had to wander for a while before she finally found the face she was looking for. They had wandered actually wandered out of the market area and were the in the process of turning around to walk back through when she saw someone slip out of an allyway and walk past them. The glasses where the first sign that drew her attention. The blue eyes woman watched the man as he slipped by. Genna could tell that the man was trying to not be noticed by her.
She was sure that this was the man, but there was something about him that was nagging at her. As she looked closer she could tell that his hair was dyed brown, his roots were just beginning to show that his hair was actually blond. The man’s ultimate mistake came when he looked into Genna’s eyes. As his sapphire blue eyes came in contact with Genna’s sapphire blue eyes. It was in that instant that Genna realized who it was that she was talking to.
“Koysa,” she said her voice surprised, and he face showed her surprise at seeing one of her cousins. It had been a long time, ten trials or so since she had last seen her cousin. It didn’t help that she had been struggling with her own addiction when Koysa has disappeared. Koysa looked guilty and then surprised and said in a pleasant voice.
“Well this is awkward, but I am not this Koysa. My name is Hariso.” He said with a half smile with an amused look. Genna tilted her head and smiled at her cousin even as he lied to her. Her expression said clearly that she didn’t believe him. “You can ask anyone around here if you like.”
“I am sure you are called Hariso, Koysa.” Genna said walking forward to stand by her cousin. He was taller then she but not hugely taller.
“Again I am sorry I am not who you are looking for.” Koysa said as his eye glanced around taking in Pablo. “I do need to go.” He said trying to move past them. Genna didn’t stop him but instead began to walk with him.
“Well Koysa regardless of what you are calling yourself, you are the person I am looking for.” Gennadiya said keeping pace with her cousin. Pablo was a step behind them.
“How can I help you madam?” Koysa said.
“Well you can stop lying to me to start with.” Genna said. The man next to her was silent and Genna could sense that he was off his balance. Genna was also confused about her cousins actions. He was determined to deny who he was. The young woman was taking a bit of time to adjust her own conundrum. Her cousin was a villain, she trusted Ymiden that much to believe that this was the man who she was sent to retrieve the egg from. While he had run away, and Genna was aware of the details from what she had understood it was as an effect of his brothers death.
“You always were to smart for your own good.” Koysa finally spat out. Genna watched the subtle transformation in his expression. His gaze to her was flinty and his smile was gown. The two stopped again in the middle of the road. He turned and looked at her. “I really don’t want to have a family reunion. I have a new life now and don’t need your charity. Take what ever guilt you have and live with it. You aren’t getting my forgiveness.”
To say Genna was surprised by her cousin’s outburst would be an understatement but she kept control of her expression. She did blink in surprise and then calmly said. “Exactly what did I do?” To her mind she hadn’t really done anything to her cousin. Honestly his whole family had become withdrawn as she had gotten older. The young healer though was aware that sometimes things were done that was more impactful on one side then on the other.
“You and your family lording your wealth over us.” This was not the answer Genna had expected. “Every time we saw you, you had a new book that you were reading. You always had the best clothing. You had to remind me just how poor we were.”
By this point Genna had prepared herself from something coming out of left field at her. She stood for a moment studying her cousin. The first accusation was true. Her father had gone to a lot of effort to get them new books to read, but most were borrowed. As for the clothing well Genna would be the first to tell you she was vain as a child, but she was also very aware that they weren’t the most fashionable people nor did they have most expensive clothing. Neither of these accusations made Genna feel guilty as she understood her self well enough to know that she didn’t know, nor really could have known. Many things began to fall into place. Genna tilted her head and said.
“I was unaware that your family was struggling.” Genna said calmly. “I am sorry to hear that, but I don’t feel any guilt over it. Is that what happened to you? Did you run away because you became so poor. Is that why you have become so hard. Is that why you have become a criminal?”
The last one was her surprise punch. Koysa flinched back as if slapped. His eyes widened at the same time in surprise at the statement and then panic crossed his face. He then seemed to collect himself. “I am no criminal.”
Genna sighed. “Kosya as I mentioned before I came her looking for you regardless of your name. I know that you have Jacadon egg.” Genna said quietly as she looked at her cousin. “It needs to be returned to it family.”
“No you won’t take anything else away from you.” Koysa said.
“Cousin, I will give you that I was a vain brat at times, but I never took anything from you. I was a child and unaware of you families struggles. I would have helped if I could, but that is really neither hear nor there. I am here now, and you are family.” She said and stepped closer. She could sense Pablo behind her and could sense that he was ready to spring if anything happened. She knew that she would be dealing with a dangerous person and was aware that just because he was her cousin didn’t mean it was any safer. “The egg isn’t yours, but I am willing to give you something in return. I am willing to give you my love and offer you the chance to redeem yourself. It will be hard, but I will be there the whole way.”
Koysa looked at her in shock and threw back his head and laughed. “You have no clue what I have done, or what I am capable of. Redemption isn’t real. I have made myself who I am. I am happy with out all of you in my life.”
“Then why do you hold such anger towards us.” She said calmly. “No you want help you just don’t know how to ask for it.” She tilted her head. “I am sorry that I didn’t see you call for help when we were young, but I am here now. Ymiden has helped lead me to you.”
“Pfft. Like Ymiden or any Immortal would care about me.” He said.
“He showed you to me. I thought it was just for find the egg, but I know that he wants me to help you.” Genna said.
“No one can help me.” Koysa said. The conversation at this point was still very calm and quiet as they stood in the middle of the street.
“Ymiden can.”
“Prove it.” He said sarcastically
“I can.” Genna said sadly. Then she used the Atonement ability on her cousin. Genna watched the internal struggle her cousin was going through. Genna knew that this wasn’t a end all be all but it was a step. She tilted her head well aware that this wasn’t simple just a smack the person and walk away. She had committed to help her cousin through what was to come. The struggle was real and while it took only a few moments of struggle to Genna who watched it seemed to take a while before the ability overcame her cousin. He looked at her his eyes wide as the guilt came crashing upon him. "We had a deal I have given you help to redeem yourself. The Egg please."
Her cousins face was an interesting mixture of the greedy that had taken over his life, and the guilt over this last act that he come over him. He didn't hesitate but nodded and took them to the egg. Genna suspected that he might be guilty of other crimes, but she wasn't about to go digging for his other crimes. That abilitiy wasn't a force clean the slate, but one correction at a time. She hopped that he would begin to see his errors and she would be there to help him.
A break later Genna and Pablo had the egg and Koysa had turned himself in for poaching. He wasn’t a changed person. Genna could tell that the barriers were still there and that it would be a long process before he was a truly changed person. Ymiden’s purpose had been achieved. The egg had been retrieved, and Genna was now there to help her cousin. She walked up to her cousin who was sitting with a rejected air. She sat down next to him. She didn't say anything just sat there letting him know she was there and serious about what she had said. The young woman felt a pang in her heart with sorrow for her cousin. She was practical enough to realize that his problems couldn't be blamed at her door, but know that she was aware she wanted to help. It would be a slow process, and it was possible that he wouldn't actually make any changes, but she would do what she could do.
