The breaks after were a bit of a blur, his body and mind working on autopilot. He was absorbed in his thoughts, just moving things around, placing the small dog beds on the side of the room with the bed provided by the dorms. He didn't organize often, but he soon found himself exhausted either way. He had hung the lantern on a coatrack by the door, locked the door and just kind of... felt his way through the process. Eventually he stripped down to his pants and put his ring on, slipping into the bed and out of consciousness.
22nd Cylus - Afternoon
The morning after, he was woken by the sound of soft thumps on his door. Blinking rapidly to clear his eyes of sleep, he rubbed his eye and lifted form the bed. Not all together, he yawned and went to the door, opening it after another round of knocking. "Wha," He interrupted himself with a yawn. "What's up?" He rubbed his right eye as he came to. Before him was a pretty dark skinned woman who looked very flustered and anywhere than at him. Ah, right, dorm. Academy
, he ruffled his hair, awake and spoke a bit more clearly. "What time is it?"
"Time for you to put a shirt on, immortals
Shl'drei." He nodded and closed the door, taking the time to process what was said as he pulled a shirt over his head from a box. Academy, shirtless... Shit.
He'd just opened the door half naked. Cheeks burning, he slapped at his cheeks and slipped off his ring, safely tucking it back into his pockets. He mussed his hair a bit, too tired to go through with a proper brush. He gathered his things and looked out the one window his dorm had- it was clearly morning... Had he slept in too late?! He rushed to sling his backpack on and practically ran through
the door, bumping into Lyah.
Cursing, he helped her up, fretting and dishing apology after apology. "Sorry! Sorry! Did you come to wake me? What time-"
He worried, looking around the common area.
"Relax, we don't have class today. Remember we're supposed to get to know our partners and all that?" She waved off his apologies as he helped her to her feet. "I was gonna head to the library and check out the book on dog breeds. Plus breakfast isn't over in the dinning hall?" She sounded hopeful, and it took Shl'drei a moment to get the implication. She wanted him to come with her. He nodded a bit too eagerly, and opened his door after telling her to hang on.
"Yeah, sorry, of course. Did you want to hit the dinning hall first?"
He asked as he closed and locked his door. Lyah nodded and they made their way out. He considered the night before, but decided against saying anything in favor of the silence being comfortable between them. The had breakfast together, chatting away on topics of interest. Once they finished they wound up in the library. "Were you looking for a specific breed?"
"Nope. Just looking for a docile one. We have to be able to train it right?"
"Yeah but... did you notice professor Drumpf didn't mention what kind of training? I didn't question it then, though."
Shl'drei nodded his acknowledgement as they made their way about. Despite the bustle in the library, it was much more peaceful and quiet than the halls. He looked around, entranced by the endless rows of text.
"You noticed too? That's kind of why I wanna do a bit of searching. Something easy to train in general terms would be best. Might as well get a head start," She shrugged. He walked with her as she combed through the shelves, pausing only when she spoke to him. "By the way... You said you'd trained before- do you have experience with dogs?"
"Kind of? I've only trained two and if I'm honest the results were spotty on both. Why do you ask?"
"'Cause it might come in handy since I haven't trained a thing, only read from books."
"I could uh, try to help?"
"Are you offering me a tutor?" She squinted at him as she turned around. It took him a moment, but he shrugged. He didn't have anything to loose from it and if they both gained experience it was worth it right?
"Yeah, I guess I am. No pressure,"
He nodded. "Though I've never taught anything before, it might be fun to try. Plus we're proably going to need to pool knowledge to get a good result, right?"
