Racial Outlook
Starting Fame
Aukari: The Aukari are considered one of the most dangerous races to the Naerikk based on their ability to become fire. With fire, there is light. Non-tattooed Naer are incredibly fearful of the Aukari. This has bled over to the tattoed Naer, whom are more protected due to the enchantments. Aukari men and women are considered dangerous. If found out, they are immediately thrown from the city for the safety of all citizens.Men: -10 Women: -10
Avriel: They are peculiar oddities in Augiery. This race fascinates the Naerikk with their unnatural ability to fly. Avriel slaves are highly sought after by many for specific research.Men: -10 Women: +10
Biqaj: The Naerikk enjoy the company of a Biqaj, especially when sailing. They welcome women that pledge their allegiance to Augiery and maintain a position in their navy. It is not uncommon to find Biqaj men serving as slaves upon the Naerikk ships.Men: -10 Women: +10
Eídisi: The attitude of the Eídisi is very difficult for most Naerikk to deal with. They are not desirable slaves, as many Naerikk find them difficult to deal with due to their high level of intelligence. Male Eídisi born into Augiery slavery are desirable as their level of knowledge can be controlled. Eídisi slaves are often placed in shops and positions where transcribing and arithmetic occurs. Some loyal slaves may even teach young girls under a watchful Naer.Men: -10 Women: +10
Ellune: Ellune are not found in Augiery. After Audrae removed Treid's heart and left the Ellune without their patron Immortal, the Ellune have developed a fear of Augiery, the Naerikk, and Audrae. That fear may have already turned to hate. Law states that the Naerikk slavers are forbidden to travel to Oscillus. Most Ellune that are encountered on the high seas or traveling with other parties that encounter slavers are killed rather than brought back to Augiery.Men: -10 Women: -10
Humans: Although humans are thought to be lesser than most races, human women are still considered to be better than human men. They are treated well throughout the city. Human men can be found in any position that requires a slave.Men: -10 Women: +10
Hyludin: N/A Men: N/A Women: N/A
Ithecal: Ithecal can be found in the city and make up a small portion of the population. Due to the hard-working nature of an Ithecal, slaves are sought after. Those that work for the city will become couriers. Augiery has a specific system designed to help Ithecal move quickly up and down the city sectors. It is not uncommon for female Ithecal to serve as warrior or help keep the Txerriak in line.Men: -10 Women: +10
Lotharro: As a race of men, the Naerikk find the Lotharro to be the most revolting. They are highly sought after slaves for their endurance and physical prowess; however, the Naerikk have been unsuccessful in keeping large quantities of Lothar slaves due to their obstinance. Many will kill themselves rather than serve as a slave.Men: -10 Women: N/A
Mer: The Mer are the only men that Naerikk will tolerate as they are incapable of making it to Augiery from Sarraski. The naval forces will often try to recruit Mer to their cause, as having underwater forces puts them at an advantage. Mer men are the only ones capable of gaining any kind of rank in the Augiery navy. No Mer are found in Augiery as it is inland. Mer can be found in the coastal town of Sarraski.Men: +10 Women: +10
Mixed Race: Half-breed women will be judged by their parent races as to their starting fame. Most will be welcome within the city. Many Naer may look down upon them or pity them because they have no real race to call their own. Male slaves are treated just like the others. Men: -10 Women: +/-10
Naerikk: This is the master race of the city. As children of Audrae, all Naer are treated as family unless crimes suggest they are to be exiled or terminated.Men: N/A Women: +10
Qi'ora: This race is not common in Augiery due to the lack of sunlight. If a Qi'ora passes through as a merchant, they do not stay more than a season due to health reasons. Qi'ora men are not desirable slaves and are often terminated or sent to Sarraski where occasional sunlight can be attained.Men: -10 Women: +10
Sev'ryn: As the other dominant race on the southern continent, Augiery has a particular distaste for the Sev'ryn. They believe that there should be one governing city in the south, and that city should be Augiery. Until Desnind submits to Augiery or is terminated, Sev'ryn are not allowed within the city. The only reason they are brought into the city is for public entertainment including torture and death.Men: -10 Women: -10
Tunäwä: As the creation of Ymiden, an Immortal that Audrae considered an enemy, Naerikk do not particularly care for the small plant people. Tunäwä men and women are enslaved because of the Naerikk's inability to differentiate their sex. They are most often kept as companions and dolls for young Naerikk girls.Men: -10 Women: -10
Wisps: N/A Men: N/A Women: N/A
Yludih: Yludih, like most other cities, will be considered based on the illusion they cast. Augiery welcomes female Yludih if they wish to accept Audrae. Yludih women will not be persecuted for their ability. It is often encouraged that they have one Naer form. Yludih women will often work for the military as spies and agents for Augiery and Audrae in other cities. Male Yludih are not desired as slaves as they often play tricks on the slavers by switching their forms when not being watched.Men: -10 Women: +10

Views on Domain Magic
[/anchor]
Practice Views
Alchemy: Alchemy is considered a science rather than magic, despite having some alchemists infusing magic into their creations. Alchemy is widely accepted in the city. Occasionally, the Vices may actually sponsor certain projects if they believe it would better Augiery.
Ensorcelling: N/A[/googlefont]
Discipline Views
Aberration: As a discipline, most mages of Augiery have elected to prevent Abberants from entering the city to protect the mage population. Rumor suggests that there may be a handful of Abberants that work directly with the Vice Queens as hunters of mages belongs to other cities that may pose a threat to Augiery.
Abrogation: N/A
Amplification: N/A
Attunement: N/A
Becoming: Becomers are considered peculiar. Why would anyone want to be anything else but themselves? Naerikk understand the reasoning behind other races wanting to become stronger races or animals due to their weak physical traits. Becomers are considered untrustworthy as they have no sense of self. On top of that, Naerikk have a problem with Becomers because Naerikk are incapable of entering Becoming. Becomers require a self-totem. Shadows cannot be totems.
Defiance: Mages that are trained in this discipline are welcome as long as they practice with one of the three safe elements: earth, wind, and water. Fire is considered destructive, and in the right hands, is considered useful by military mages. Fire, as a light source, it also considered extremely dangerous to Naerikk. Defiers are forbidden to practice within the Underhive. Otherwise, Defiers have worked in the military as well as in the private sector as architects and engineers.
Dustforge: N/A
Empathy: Known in Augiery as 'puppeteers,' Empaths are welcome within the city. They hold positions of power over the Txerriak. Control with minimal loss of life has been desired as a slave city. Empaths will go out of their way to calm a Txerri into accepting their job. This position is one of the few methods that Augiery uses to make their slave population 'comfortable.'
Graft: N/A
Mirage: N/A
Necromancy: Militant Necromancers are welcome within Augiery. Private Necromancers are not. Since this discipline strikes fear into the hearts of most sane people, the Wicked Council has elected to keep Necromancers away from the public. Those that have joined Augiery's military are found useful in raising the dead as additional, expendable soldiers.
Pact: N/A
Rupturing: This discipline is considered incredibly useful by Audrae and the vices. Rupturers are found within Augiery's military system. Often high ranking, these mages have use in moving large groups of soldiers into different locations. They are often used as magical tacticians. Those in the private sector will move people from Sarraski and back as a means of quick transportation to the coast.

Txerriak and Domain Magic
[/anchor]
The Txerriak are forbidden to learn domain magic even if they are privately owned by a mage. This decree was laid by the second Wicked Council after an incident involving a Txerri mage. Slaves found practicing magic will be immediately executed. Women found training slaves in domain magic will be immediately executed. This hard rule has caused even Naer to lose their lives.

Cave Meteorology
[/anchor]
Image
Average Temperature: 70 degress Fahrenheit
Average Humidity: 93%
Unlike most cities, Augiery has a very unique geographical location that effects its climate. Like most caves, there are four main ways to affect the temperature: heat from the overlying rock, heat from the underlying rock, air flow, and water flow. All of these aspects play a role in Augiery's climate.

Given that the average temperature above ground is approximately 68 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the arc. With the lava flows beneath, the rock temperature beneath the city can get close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The combined temperatures above and below would make Augiery an incredibly warm city. Cooling mechanisms for Augiery's temperature include the winds coming into the cavern from the ocean. These winds blow past Sarraski and whisper through the columns. The Oceanic River flows past Sarraski and grinds through the cavern to flow alongside the Green River and provides additional cooling to the city. With the river and moisture seeping through the stone, Augiery has an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 93% humidity.

Despite the high humidity, the air feels dry and does not cling to ones clothes. This occurs because of the cooler temperatures within the cave. Evaporation does not occur. This provides a constantly wet environment. Moisture can be found throughout the city, clinging to the stone walls. The cavern echoes with cave songs as water drips from the stalactites with the variable chorus of other sounds.

Views of Immortals
Name
Audrae's Views Worship Permitted
Aelig: With he recent attack on her home, Aelig is currently held in ill favor with Audrae. Having previously been tentative allies, the Shadow Mother has no plans of making him pay at this time. With his recent transgressions, the Yludih within the city may find it somewhat difficult to keep secrets as they are constantly watched of late.
No
Aeva: Audrae and Aeva do not get along and bitter like the have and have-not sisters. Aeva has everything that is beautiful, from the sparkling jewels to the finest weapons. With Aeva's sacred forge nearby, Audrae keeps tabs on her cousin.
No
Ashan: Audrae is relatively indifferent to Ashan. He keeps to his domains and his business while she keeps to hers. If the city of Augiery remember what spring and the changing seasons were like, this might be different.
No
Cassion: Cassion is a man of wanderlust. Audrae would probably respect that more if her shadowlings were permitted to walk freely in a world of darkness as they had been made for. Instead, she simply finds him to be a curious man. Those that travel as diplomats and spies may occasional lay a token at his altars around the world for a safe journey home.
Limited
Chamadarst: The relationship shared between the two is probably the most neutral of all of Audrae's views. She has no reason to tip either way and permits worship to him as long as it lines the coffers of the Ganga.
Yes
Chrien: There are several Immortals with world domination in mind. Chrien seems to be one of them, but she would rather see the world wash away in Audrae's opinion. Chrien used to be powerful, but her desire for love and perfection has made her incredibly weak. With the creation of four subspecies, Chrien has just about stretched herself to her limit. Poorly planned if one were to ask Audrae.
No
Daia: Having been deceased for many arcs, Audrae still mourns her cousin. Had it not been for her death, Audrae might not have seen the potential in mortals. She might even concede to thanking Daia's memory for giving her the creative mindset to make the Naerikk.
No
Delroth: Delroth holds some domains that Audrae finds endearing. Aurelia, a mortal embodiment of his domain of greed, has caused Audrae to reconsider Delroth's role in this world. He hordes treasures; she hordes secrets. His alliances have always made it hard for them to talk, but Audrae has sometimes wondered what it might be like if she were to have a conversation with him. At this time, given his affiliations, worship is not permitted.
No
Edasha: If there is one person in Idalos that can rival the beauty of the Naer, it is Edasha. A benign Immortal, Audrae holds no ill will to Edasha aside from her affiliations with those she considers enemies. Her current affiliation with Syroa brings the most hatred, whereas before it was a benefit.
Limited
Ethelynda: Ethelynda probably despises Audrae more than the Shadow Mother does. Given that Ethelynda is the Immortal of Honors, Audrae is a living representation of everything Ethelynda stands against.
No
Faldrun: There is immediate hatred for Faldrun and his spawn. Fire is a form of light and light kills her people. It is only reasonable for Audrae to hate that which hurts her. On top of that, he would see himself as King of All. This clearly interferes with her goal to be Queen.
No
Famula: As one of her sisters, Famula is probably highest on her list. They have no current qualms, little trust issues, and no history at this time. Famula is rarely seen, as Naerikk simply cease to exist when their life ends. There is no need for her to directly ferry souls from Augiery often.
Limited
Ilaren: The mutual respect for each others powers has wavered throughout time. With her ability to bring sudden light during a blackout storm, the Naerikk find Ilaren to be fearsome. Audrae finds great distaste in having another Immortal feared.
No
Karem: Audrae is indifferent to Karem, much like several other Immortals. They have only ever met in passing when the Immortals have come together to discuss Idalos as a whole. Those meetings, known only in history texts, have not permitted Audrae to cultivate an opinion of Karem.
Limited
Kata: Kata, much like Pier and Pre, are child-like and annoying to Audrae. Audrae prefers to have allies of a sound mind and Kata's inability to come out of her insanity long enough to be an adult drives Audrae mad - much to Kata's delight.
Limited
Lisirra: Lisirra was once deeply loved and respected alongside her sisters, Moseke and Audrae. After the fallout and plague, Audrae held little respect for the Lady of Poison. It was one thing to attack cousins. It was another to attack siblings. In the recent seasons, Lisirra has taken actions against the Shadow Mother. Worship has recently been outlawed until Lisirra offers an apology; an apology that may never come.
No
Mastes: Audrae is unsure how to approach her relationship with Mastes, given his domain of trickery. As the Mother of Secrets, Audrae does not like having things kept from her and Mastes has been known to approach his cousins for one thing and do another.
Limited
Moseke: Once, long ago, Audrae and Moseke most likely got along well. Rumor has it that Moseke and Ymiden might have helped Audrae with her schemes to resurrect the human women as Naerikk. Audrae takes all the credit now, as the fallout between the sisters was absolute. Audrae now sees Moseke and her hippy city as an obstacle standing between her and total domination of the Southern Region.
No
Pier and Pre: Lackeys to Vri, Audrae has only contempt for the girls. They could have been powerful, following one of her allies or even herself. Instead, they decided to dance around with the Immortal of the Dead.
No
Qylios: Audrae secretly holds Qylios as her archnemesis, alongside Yvithia. With her light as her domain, Qylios has the ability to undo Audrae's work with enough resolve and followers. The recent siege has garnered more attention than desired from Qylios, and Audrae has begun to step up her efforts to protect the city.
No
Raskalarn: Raskalarn and her people are very similar to Audrae and the Naerikk. Raskalarn and Audrae have little to do with one another as they are each far to preoccupied with their personal conquests. Since each group can be very radical, it is not surprising that worship to Raskalarn is not permitted.
No
Ralaith: Having been a close companion to Tried, he took great offense to Audrae's removal of Treid's heart. There is mutual respect for the opposite's domains as well as mutual distrust.
No
Sintra: Audrae trusts Sintra about as much as she can throw her sister. As one of the direct descendants of Cierel, Audrae wants to love and trust Sintra. When their goals are aligned, they get along well; otherwise, she watches Sintra's Webspinners diligently.
Limited
Syroa: Traitor. At this time, Audrae hold Syroa in great contempt for siding with Aelig and Lisirra. Having previously been allies, the slight is unforgivable at this time. In the recent seasons, idols of Syroa have been destroyed and Audrae has gone on rages against her former friend to her Wicked Council.
No
Thetros: Some say polar opposites attract. When the polarity is as strong as it is between these two Immortals, there is so much distance that attraction would never occur. Thetros, father to the Lotharro, represents everything that Audrae and the Naerikk cannot stand. There is mutual hatred for Thetros' ways. Enslaving Lotharro and breaking them of their passion causes extreme satisfaction amongst the Naer.
No
Treid: His slight against her in the early years of Idalos has not been forgotten by Audrae or her people. Having ripped out his heart makes her feel only a touch better; his betrayal leaving scars far deeper than anyone would understand. His three moons mock Audrae and her people each night, reminding her of his treachery.
No
U'frek: Audrae and U'frek are relatively neutral. She respects his domains and he seems to respect hers. The Augierian Navy has been known to pay respects to him prior to sailing. The Mer that claim allegiance to her she protects from his prying eyes.
Yes
Vhalar: The only oaths that matter to Audrae are those made to her. Since Vhalar takes great pride in being the Keeper of Oaths, Audrae permits him to have a loose hold over vows within the city. Casia also prefers to pay some homage to Vhalar so she might one day spread Audrae's propaganda throughout Idalos.
Yes
Vri: As with most of his family, Vri has power over a world that Audrae has not yet been able to get into. She is jealous of that which has turned into a form of hatred. Lucky for her, her people do not rely on him to cross over. Shadows simply end.
No
Xiur: This stargazing bastard and his recent alliance can just about rot. The attack has left him on Audrae's naughty list, alongside his cohort. Previously, she might have considered him a nuisance. Now, he is a target.
No
Ymiden: As Moseke's beau, Audrae considered Ymiden to be spineless. He does as Moseke commands and seems to forgive all too willingly. Audrae would probably have considerably more respect for him if he acted on his own. Instead, she finds him useless.
No
Yvithia: When asked about Yvithia, Audrae tends to burst out in maniacal laughter. She finds it absolutely hilarious that Yvithia is even considered an Immortal at all. For having ripped out the heart of her beloved, Audrae would have expected some sort of attack. Even a snowball fight might have garnered some respect for the scholar. Instead, Audrae considers Yvithia the weakest of them all.
No
Zanik: Audrae is unsure what to think of Zanik. Tanvi and Casia seem to be interested in his domains, so the Shadow Mother permits worship within the city. If given reason, she would end that as quickly as it was started.
Yes
Ziell: The pretty boy of winter has not drawn Audrae's attention. She pays attention to prophecies that might concern her, but beyond that, holds no favor or ill will for her cousin.
No
[/googlefont]
Views of Mortalborns
Aedan: Audrae sometimes wishes that Aedan were a Naerikk, given his ruthlessness as a clan leader. His apparently unwavering loyalty to his father makes him an enemy in her eyes. If ever that was to waver, she would be keenly interested in making him her ally. His hatred for his mother provides him some recent favor given Syroa's actions of late.
No
Ethelm: A direct doll of her mother's, Audrae sees Ethelm and his siblings little more than Ethelynda's puppets. His smithing abilities have attracted many tradeswomen to Ivorian to study. His commitment to his mother and his people is admirable. Audrae believes that he is the best of Ethelynda's spawn.
Limited
Icarus: As much as Icarus might like to garner Audrae's favor, Audrae has not found a use for the Mortalborn. As he is male, she thinks less of him. He has not given her reason to trust him at this time, although things may change in the future if he so desires.
Limited
Jesine: Emea is a realm that seems to belong to Jesine and Kielik; a realm that seems to frequently escape Audrae's conquest. With her loyalty to her father, Audrae despises Jesine and her invulnerability in the world of dreams.
No
Kielik: Audrae would like to trust Kielik, but is unsure of his motives given his relationship with Sintra. When the goals align, she is positive they could get along swimmingly. Of his family, she prefers him over Vri or Jesine.
Limited
Labrae: There is no physical proof that Labrae has entered Augiery to steal Naerikk children; however, the rumors are fierce when it comes to Labrae's theft of true born Naerikk daughters. If ever caught, Labrae and her kind would be severely punished. Out of courtesy to her mother, Audrae would most likely let her live.
No
Rhonwen: A direct doll of her mother's, Audrae sees Rhonwen and her siblings little more than Ethelynda's puppets. Like her brothers, Audrae finds potential in the young Mortalborn's skills as a fighter and leader. Unlike her brothers, Rhonwen appears to be a prude. Audrae finds her the dullest of the three with her purity.
No
Ti'atha: Audrae may have heard a rumor or two of Ti'atha's existence. Since they have never met, Audrae has no opinion.
No
Valtharn: Valtharn's receives more respect from Audrae despite the odds that she has with Rasklarn. Her one track mind is admirable; the blood stained path to epic glory memorable. Some of her torture tactics have been used on the slaves to attain obedience amongst the Txerri.
Limited
Vericus: A direct doll of her mother's, Audrae sees Vericus and his siblings little more than Ethelynda's puppets. Vericus has not proven to be useful to Audrae at this time. She relies far more on the minds of Odessa and Runash's generals than his strategy.
No

Txerriak Economy
[/anchor]
Slaves have little to call their own. What precious few items they are permitted to have may be worth the world to another slave. Over time, the Txerriak have developed their own menial form of trade that has slipped under the Vice Queens' radar. The slaves have taken to secret transactions between one another involving personal items, flint, and favors. As the old saying goes: One person's trash is another person's treasure.

Flint is the common currency used by the Txerriak. As many of the torches throughout the Hive are tended by Txerri, flint is incredibly easy to come by in varying sizes. New flint stones are the most valuable, but are incredibly rare. Flint ships and flint pebbles are easier to come by as they are often discarded by the Naer slavers for new rocks. Since flint can easily be sharpened and carved through the use of another stone and force, it can be made into crude weapons to protect oneself or attack a particularly cruel slaver. As of present day, the slaves have been using flint to trade for more meaningful items such as clothing and extra rations of food. Some try to even discourage the creation of weapons so as to prevent the Vice Queen's from taking too much notice of their crude economy.

An items worth is determined by the buyer and the seller. Items commonly seen in the trade system include clothing and rations of food. Lesser seen items may include special trinkets such as jewelry or furniture-like items (bedrolls, stools, etc.)

Finally, a man's word is gold. Favors have been traded since the first slaves came to be. One slave might ask another to trade jobs for the day because of a serious loss at the Lurpeko. Of course, a favor is often repaid with a favor. Many slaves are honest and their word is often enough to form a deal. Other slaves may require tokens so that they have proof of an agreement when they attempt to collect. Tokens are often small pebbles with the initials of the favor giver carved into them. It is rumored for some slaves to have bags of favors, waiting for the perfect moment to collect.

The Vice Queen's are minimally aware of something going on within the Txerriak population. Right now, there has not been any indications that this could cause a problem. At any given point, that can change.

OOC Note

This system will be left entirely up to the players involved in the trade. In Character plots may change how the Txerriak view the economy or how the Vice Queen's react to the economy. Don't let them catch you as there may be dire consequences.

Naerikk Tattoos
[/anchor]
Although Naerikk are safe within the Hive and Vice Sectors of Augiery due to the enchantment placed on the city by Audrae, Naer require special tattoos to walk in the light outside of the city. It is also recommended that tattoos be present on Naer that venture into the Underhive. There are a spectrum of inks that have been infused with Ether, allowing for a variety of intricate designs to be placed into the skin. These special inks are brought down from the Vice Sector where Audrae has infused her own Ether into the ink. Once applied to a Naer, it will provide them an illusioned form in any source of light. This is Audrae's gift to all of her shadow daughters.

Tattoos are variable in design even though their purpose is the same. Most Naerikk receive their first tattoo trials after their birth in case they are maliciously taken out of the city. These tattoos are often related to their birth date. Some will have the moon phase applied or an animal that may have been present at their birth. Even the initials of the girls parents have been tattooed onto a child signifying their heritage. These tattoos are often peeled from the girl at an older age and replaced with more intricate and personal designs. It is not unheard of for these tattoos to be redone if a Naer enjoys having the mark of their birth. Some parents may elect not to tattoo their child, giving them the option later in life to choose what their first tattoo will look like.

Most Naerikk update, redo, or refinish their tattoos approximately every 20-50 arcs. If a tattoo is left to fade, a Naerikk might find themselves having problems with their illusions. Tattoos will fade progressively. Alterations to the illusion may occur including the appearance of aging due to fading tattoos. A formerly beautiful Naer may develop wrinkles, gray hair, etc. If another twenty years is allowed to lapse, the tattoos may have faded enough that the protection from light is questionable.

Although many inks come in traditional colors, mamua tinta ("ghost ink") is a special ink that has been infused with ether and small particles of itzalezkobeira ("shadowglass"). This ink is invisible to the naked eye but will appear in low light and darkness. Tattoos in this special ink have even been rumored to show up in the equivalent location on the Naer's shadow form.

There are few tattoo artists that have access to these special, Ether-infused inks. Many of the tattoo artists are found within Augiery. The legendary tattooist, Pruvea, has been applying Naerikk tattoos for almost a century now and plans to continue applying works of art for many more years. She can be found at her private tattoo parlor, the Painted Shadow, in the Hive Sector of Augiery.

Marriage and Divorce
[/anchor]
The outside world might assume that marriage is a way out of slavery for the male population of Augiery; however, that is not the case. Marriage does not mean that a man is a slave. The process of marriage is only a formality. A couple chooses to go through the process of marriage to announce to the city that their love is eternal. The couple may claim to be husband and wife but the law remains: a man's freedom ends at the doorstep. What goes on within the household is at the discretion of the married couple; beyond the doors the man is expected to wear the collar and wristlets as a normal Txerriak. It is abnormal for the husband to go out without his wife. As long as his spouse is present, he may walk alongside her or behind her without chains. It is generally thought as poor behavior if the man walks ahead of his spouse. This is not punishable but put the woman in a position of disfavor for allowing her husband to be "above her". If he is alone, he may walk the streets with chains but be unbound to the buildings and rails like the city slaves.

An official ceremony can only be performed between two women or a heterosexual couple. A couple made of two slaves is possible, but the union is not recognized by the city as the slave population is viewed as property. The union between two men could easily be split up by the city if there is a need. The ceremony itself encompasses Audrae's domains: deception, shadows, secrets, and fear. The process is an all day event for the bride, groom, and all women that wish to take parts. Privately owned slaves may attempt to hinder or help the groom during the process but city slaves may only watch and are forbidden to intervene.

The ceremony starts at the bride and groom's home. The bride has most likely provided the groom with suitable attire since he does not have an income. He is often expensively and vibrantly dressed as this is the only form that the bride may express herself. There is no extravagant gown for the bride; instead, they shroud themselves completely in black cloth. They can see via a thin slit or transparent fabric at the level of the eyes. Socioeconomic status is declared by the quality of the cloth, any embroidery, and the method that is used to see. When the pair is ready to leave, the bride will leave one break before the groom to join the shadow maids. Shadow maids are dressed similarly to the bride in attempts to trick the groom when he makes his way to the temple. On his way, he is tasked to pick out his bride and escort her to the temple where they share their secret phrase. Shadow maids may attempt to trick the groom into thinking that they are the bride with promises of traveling beyond the walls, wealth, and flesh. Even the Vice Queens have been known to join in the process as it is a form of enjoyment to them.

Once the groom, the bride, and the shadow maids arrive at the temple, the groom gives his half of the couple's secret phrase. If he chose correctly, his wife will respond with the other half and they will be bound as married forever. If he chose incorrectly, the shadow maid will leave him at the alter and the rejected bride will approach him for his final judgement. Due to his inability to recognize his eternal love, the bride chooses what happens next. Jealous women may have him sacrificed at the altar for his failure; others may send him back from the comforts of being privately owned to work as a city slave. Some failed grooms have been masked and taken downstream on the Oceanic river with nothing to their name to survive in the southern caverns by themselves. Ultimately, it is the bride's decision as to what occurs at the altar of a failed marriage.

Lesbian couples go through the same process but there are often fewer shadow maids to hinder their marriage. There have been instances where jealous women have attempt to thwart a marriage out of desire to marry one of the women themselves.

In the outside world, marriage is often sacred and not entered into by either party unless it is true love. It has not been unheard of for a Txerriak to feign love to enjoy the perks of being a privately owned and married slave. If a bride ever feels that their husband is no longer in the relationship out of love, then the woman may choose to send the slave back to the slave pits. The record of marriage is stricken from the books and no one speaks of it again. The slave is no longer privately owned or married no matter how much he attempts to fight it. Lesbian couples have the marriage stricken from the books, stop living together, and refuse to acknowledge one another if the divorce is amicable. There have been cases where murder has been suspected but often the woman has "left the city".

The Shadow Prism
[/anchor]
Image
The Augierian banner came to be around arcs 673/674, at the time that Runash joined the Wicked Council. The Vice Queens reconciled with the Augierian pirates by limiting the use of this sigil for times of war. The pirates would otherwise be able to fly their own banners and act independently as long as they brought spoils and slaves to Sarraski for Augiery. Known as the "Shadow Prism", this flag only flies above Augierian troops during times of war. During times of peace, these banners are locked away in one of two places: the Ganga or Runash's private vaults in Sarraski.

The Shadow Prism is symbolic for many characteristics pertaining to Augiery. They decided upon the diamond shape given the ability for the gem to be mined within the caves. Word has spread that it may have been picked as it is often considered "woman's best friend." The design is commonly embroidered onto flags with black thread. This thread is infused with itzalezkobeira or "shadow glass" so that the symbol can be seen sparkling red in complete darkness. The sigil can only be found on city issue flags and armor. Armor is infrequently given to sailors and raiders as they prefer their own gear to travel quickly and more efficiently. Guards and guerrilla land soldiers have bee provided plate armor, but only during times of war. There are 8 segments to the sigil with 7 sections representing the Vice Queens and the center section representing Audrae, Queen of Augiery and the Naerikk. Finally, the diamond is always placed on grey metal or grey fabric, representing the cavern for which Augiery is found.

Since its creation, the Shadow Prism has never been flown over the Augierian Navy. When the times comes for it to be raised over the seas and the emblazoned armor to be distributed, all should be wary; Augiery is on the move.
