History of the Forged

The Order of the Forged first came into existence during Ashan 720, when a group of heroes travelled into the volcano of Faldrass to try and stop it from erupting. There they discovered that the eruption had been the result of the mighty Induk Faldrass: a spirit of immense power with command over fire, breaking free from his long imprisonment. Faldrass was not an enemy of humanity; quite the opposite in fact, for Scalvoris was his home and he wished to protect it. He revealed that there was a secret cabal that'd been hiding in the shadows ever since the disappearance of the pirate lords. They were the ones who imprisoned him, and had been pulling the strings behind many of the disasters that had been plaguing the island for many arcs. He knew not what their goals were, but believed that action needed to be taken in order to uncover the mysteries of Scalvoris and defend it from this unseen threat. Sadly as the Induk of Faldrass he was bound to his island, unable to leave its boundaries without a vessel, and thus was unable to do this himself. And so Faldrass offered the heroes who had been present for his release a deal. He would grant them and other mortals who were committed to defending Scalvoris a fraction of his power. If they continued to prove themselves trustworthy he would grant them more of his powers, and reveal to them the ancient history of the island. Some of the heroes agreed, and with their bargain struck the Order of the Fireforged was created.

As the Fireforged began to search the island for the unseen cabal, so to did they begin to learn that the balance of nature in Scalvoris had been disrupted by this groups actions. In order to restore this balance the other great Induk: Ishallr, Scaltoth and Sweetwine, also had to be freed from their imprisonment. Like Faldrass these Induk also sought to protect Scalvoris, but could not quite see eye-to-eye on what this protection entailed. The other Induk also followed Faldrass' lead in lending their power to mortal champions, and thus the collective term for those who followed them became The Forged.

Becoming a Forged

You must possess a desire to protect Scalvoris from any who would wish to see it or it's people destroyed, and a willingness to uncover its hidden mysteries. Forged are expected to be selfless, brave and compassionate, yet willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the greater good of Scalvoris. The Order of the Forged are a secret organisation independent of any other factions, and may only intentionally reveal the existence of this faction to those who they wish to initiate. You may still be a member of The Elements, The Scalvoris Council or any other factions, but be aware that by becoming a Forged you are expected to put your duties to this organisation first. While it is not required that a Forged choose one of the subfactions to join upon joining this faction, they must have sworn a vow to one of the Induk in order to obtain the rank of Centurion or higher. Nor will they be able to use any of the Froged powers without a diri companion to provide a connection to an Induk.

If you wish to become a Forged you must either:

A.) Request an existing Forged PC to initiate you within one of the available headquarters.
B.) Speak with a local Prophet about being initiated.
C.) Seasonal PC Initiation (Special): Each Forged has the ability to initiate one person a season into the same subfaction of the Forged even while not in the presence of their Induk. Each Forged is connected their Induk, so it is technically possible for them to reach out through existing Forged in order to initiate a new member in a pinch. However this is an uncomfortable process for the initiator. See each subfaction page for more details.

NOTE: Before any form of initiation you must register here as an applicant OOC and a moderator must approve the initiation attempt. This allows us to be aware of all of those being initiated so we can step in if we don't believe that the character in question would be suitable as a Forged.
Application Form:

Code: Select all

Character Name:
Their reason for joining the Forged:
Initiation Method:
Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before one of the great Induk and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to protecting Scalvoris. The Induk must also judge you as being capable of upholding this vow.

Forged Ranks

Ranking up is done automatically. You must keep track of your points in your character sheet and we will strive to do so here as well. Once you have enough points you may begin learning your new ability.

0 Points - Principales: At this level the Forged is newly bonded to their Diri and knows little about their new organisation beyond that they have made a deal with the ancient Induk of Scalvoris. They gain the Reforged power and one subfaction power.

20 points - Primus Principales: Primus Principales are still considered as new members but have demonstrated some level of commitment to the Forged. They have proven that they are capable of protecting Scalvoris, and have shown an interest in discovering its secrets. They gain the Identify power and one subfaction power.

40 Points - Centurion: Centurions are proven multiple times that they have the determination to fight against any threat for the good of Scalvoris, and for their service the Induk reward them with a great deal of his trust. Centurions are entrusted with a great secret; one of the ancient history of Scalvoris itself. They gain the Lesser Incarnation power and one subfaction power.

60 Points - Primus Centurion: Primus Centurions are the captains of the Order of the Forged. They have proven that they will not only fight for the protection of Scalvoris, but are capable of leading others (whether they be members of the Forged or not) in the service of this goal as well. They gain the Limit Breaker power and one subfaction power.

80 Points - Legatus: The Legatus are the leaders of the Forged. Such is the Induk's trust in them that they will seek their council on the important decisions, and entrusts them with all the ancient secrets of Scalvoris. They gain the Greater Incarnation power and one subfaction power.

100 Points - Arch Legatus: If the Legatus are the leaders of the Forged, then the Arch Legatus are its greatest heroes. The Induk trust these people not just as capable partners but as personal friends, and as such grants them the authority to speak in his name and make decisions that on the actions the order of the Fireforged should take on his behalf. They gain the Unto The Breach power and one subfaction power.

Forged Abilities

0 Points:
Reforged: Forged are not named as they are for no reason. By accepting an Induk's deal their body is filled with their power and tempered by it, making it tougher than it was before. A Forged will find that their skin is like a leather armour and their bones like iron rods, making them more resistant to blunt physical damage.
0 Points: 1st Subfaction Power: The ability granted here depends on which Induk the Forged has sworn their service to, and thus which subfaction they are a part of. Check the relevant subfaction page for details.

20 Points:
identify: As someone who has developed a close bond with a spirit themselves, the forged in partially connected to the spiritual realm. Not only can the forged see spirits of all kinds, but when they look upon a spirit they will recieve a fairly close, if not entirely accurate, impression of what that spirit's concept is. Please note that this is not a passive ability and must be activated by the Forged in order to work. Care should be taken not to overwhelm the senses, as spirits are everywhere in the world.
20 Points: 2nd Subfaction Power: The ability granted here depends on which Induk the Forged has sworn their service to, and thus which subfaction they are a part of. Check the relevant subfaction page for details.

40 Points: Lesser Incarnation: The diri that accompanies a forged in the conduit to their power. Usually this diri cannot be seen except by other forged or those with the ability to see spirits, however with this ability the diri can temporarily take on the physical form of an animal no heavier that 4kg. They can maintain this phsycial form for 1 minute per point the forged posesses in the forged faction, and during this time can be seen by other physical beings and interact fully with the physical world. They still maintain their intelligence and mental bond to the forged, but cannot use any other forged powers while in this state. If the physical form is killed the diri will experience pain, but instantly return toi being a spirit. This form can possess basic abilities such as flight or sharp claws, but cannot possess any unusual or deadly features such as venom or magical abilities.

40 Points: 3rd Subfaction Power: The ability granted here depends on which Induk the Forged has sworn their service to, and thus which subfaction they are a part of. Check the relevant subfaction page for details.

60 Points: Limit Breaker: A tricky, but useful ability to have in a pinch. In agreeing to work together, the four Induk of the Forged have created a weak bond between themselves which is further shared between their servants. With this ability the forged is able to replicate an ability belonging to whichever subfactions of the forged that they themselves have not joined that they would have unlocked with their current level of forged points. However drawing the power of an induk they have not fully sworn themselves to carries its own consequences. After using the replicated ability, the forged will find their own bond with their diri temporarily severed for the same number of trials as the forged points needed to unlock the ability they replicated.

60 Points: 4th Subfaction Power: The ability granted here depends on which Induk the Forged has sworn their service to, and thus which subfaction they are a part of. Check the relevant subfaction page for details.

80 Points:
Greater Incarnation: Building on the Lesser Incarnation ability, the diri is now able to assume a physical form of much greater size. The diri can assume a physical form with a weight of up to 300kg.
80 Points: 5th Subfaction Power: The ability granted here depends on which Induk the Forged has sworn their service to, and thus which subfaction they are a part of. Check the relevant subfaction page for details.

100 Points: Unto the Breach: An Arch Legatus is a mighty leader of the forged, and nowhere is this position reflected more keenly than in this power. Automatically taking effect whenever the forged is in a dangerous situation with other forged, the Arch Legatus establishes a psychic bond betwene themsleves and all other forged in the area no dissimilar from the bond between a forged an their diri. This bond will allow the Arch Legatus to communicate dfirectly with the forged and issue them commands, as well as see through their eyes and hear through their ears at will as long as the other forged allows it. Not only that, but the Arch Legatus will instictively know what instictive movements another forged they share a connection with will make and vice versa, allowing them to work as a perfectly synchronised team without any previous training or communication.

100 Points: 6th Subfaction Power: The ability granted here depends on which Induk the Forged has sworn their service to, and thus which subfaction they are a part of. Check the relevant subfaction page for details.

Diris and Diri Relationship

The relationship between the Forged and their Diri is one which is fundamental to the Forged. The Diri acts as a conduit to the Induk for the Forged ~ and as a conduit to the Forged for the Induk. As the relationship progresses, the Forged Diris can become more individual and this is achieved via Relationship.

Gaining Relationship Points
  • The first Relationship Point is gained by the PC submitting a thread where they work, collaboratively, with their Diri on something "on theme" with the type of Forged the player is. This does not have to be a thread where Forged Points are gained (it often isn't) and should not be a thread where the PC and Diri are facing combat / an emergency. This is about the PC working with their Diri to understand what it means to both of them to be joined / Forged.
  • Further Relationship Points are gained by the PC and the Diri building / growing their relationship. A few points are important to note here:
    1. Gaining relationship points gets progressively more difficult.
    2. Repeating behaviours will not gain repeating of points.
    3. RP Relationship Points require RP Role Play .

Relationship Levels
Because I'm mean like that - I'm going to "reveal" these as people earn them!
  • 1 point: Friends: The Diri and the Forged are now "friends" and the Diri will often give little hints / thoughts. Mechanically, if you submit a thread for Forged Points, I will try and give you some advice from your Diri in the modnote, if appropriate.
  • 3 points: Bonded: The Diri and the Forged now have a strong bond and the Diri will be prepared to "go the extra mile" for their Forged. Mechanically, this has 2 aspects:
    • The Diri develops a unique ability which is roughly the level of a Favoured Ability from an Immortal Mark. This would be akin to one of the 3 "starter abilities" in an Immortal Mark and will be something that the Diri would see as a means of helping their Forged. This might be something which overcomes a weakness the Diri perceives the Forged as having, or it might be a means of protecting or assisting them. This must be submitted to the PSF and must include a justification for why the Diri would feel it helps the PC (some links would help!).
    • When a Forged is at Primus Centurion or higher AND has a Diri relationship of Bonded, they can begin to communicate with the Induk through their Diri. At this level, the communication is controlled by the Diri and must be explored in order to test any further limits. It's not direct communication, but it's more an ability to sense what the Induk wants.
  • 5 points: Merged: [Maximum 5 points unless Life / Death Forged - see abilities] At this point the diri and the Forged have an almost-symbiotic relationship. Mechanically, this has 2 aspects:
    • The Diri's ability (from 3 points - Bonded) expands. This effectively means that it doubles in some aspect. That might be duration, damage, range, etc. If doubling is not possible, because of the power, then the PC should suggest an appropriate extension to the power. These should be approved in the Forged Tracking Thread.
    • The Diri is now able to travel to literally anywhere on Idalos and maintain telepathic communication with the Forged. The Diri can't make themselves seen or heard to anyone who couldn't see or hear them, but it is a very useful communication tool.
    • The Diri can share their Bonded ability with the Forged

Gaining Points and Ranking Up

Forged are those who have sworn to protect Scalvoris and uncover its mysteries. Any thread in which your character does this after becoming a Forged, whether on a mission assigned to them by one of the Induk or not, may be eligible for your character to receive points for. You may submit any thread here that you complete where you believe that your character is fulfilling the role of a Forged. Once you post the thread here it will be graded and you will be assigned points for the work your character has done. The riskier or more impactful the thread, the more points you will earn.

Collab Points: You will recieve an extra two points for a collaborative thread. Working with others is important and you should be rewarded for leading others in the defense of Scalvoris.

Induk Points: You will receive an extra two points for a thread with any one or more of the Scalvoris Induks.

Gaining Fire Forged Points

In order to gain Fire Forged Points, you need to consider the following:
  • Does it impact Faldrass? The Induk is more likely to notice / the diri be impressed if it is directly impacting Faldrass Island. This is especially true the higher up the ranks you go.
  • Does it impact Scalvoris as a whole? The Induk is about protecting Scalvoris, so if it does that - then it's likely to get points.
  • Is it to do with fire / heat / lava? This Induk is about fire and heat and lava, etc. If it's about that, even if it's not on Faldrass - that's more likely to draw its interest.
  • Is it something you've done before? If so - it's not likely to gain more points.
  • Is it doing something? Induks are much more likely to award points / progression for doing. They're not big on talking and that's especially true of Faldrass.

Gaining Ice Forged Points

In order to gain Ice Forged Points, you need to consider the following:
  • Does it impact Ishallr? The Induk is more likely to notice / the diri be impressed if it is directly impacting Ishallr Island. This is especially true the higher up the ranks you go.
  • Does it impact Scalvoris as a whole? The Induk is about protecting Scalvoris, so if it does that - then it's likely to get points.
  • Is it to do with ice / snow? This Induk is about ice and snow, etc. If it's about that, even if it's not on Ishallr - that's more likely to draw its interest.
  • Is it something you've done before? If so - it's not likely to gain more points.
  • Is it doing something? Induks are much more likely to award points / progression for doing.

Gaining Song Forged Points

In order to gain Song Forged Points, you need to consider the following:
  • Does it impact Sweetwine? The Induk is more likely to notice / the diri be impressed if it is directly impacting Sweetwine Woods. This is especially true the higher up the ranks you go.
  • Does it impact Scalvoris as a whole? The Induk is about protecting Scalvoris, so if it does that - then it's likely to get points.
  • Is it to do with air / music/ sound? This Induk is about air, song, music, etc. If it's about that, even if it's not in Sweetwine - that's more likely to draw its interest.
  • Is it something you've done before? If so - it's not likely to gain more points.
  • Is it doing something? Induks are much more likely to award points / progression for doing. They're not big on talking and Sweetwine is a bit too flighty to listen to conversations.

Gaining Soul Forged Points

In order to gain Soul Forged Points, you need to consider the following:
  • Does it impact Scaltoth? The Induk is more likely to notice / the diri be impressed if it is directly impacting Scaltoth Jungle. This is especially true the higher up the ranks you go.
  • Does it impact Scalvoris as a whole? The Induk is about protecting Scalvoris, so if it does that - then it's likely to get points.
  • Is it to do with earth / plants? This Induk is about earth, plants, growth, etc. If it's about that, even if it's not in Scaltoth - that's more likely to draw its interest.
  • Is it something you've done before? If so - it's not likely to gain more points.
  • Is it doing something? Induks are much more likely to award points / progression for doing. They're not big on talking.

History of the Fireforged

The Order of the Fireforged first came into existence during Ashan 720, when a group of heroes travelled into the volcano of Faldrass to try and stop it from erupting. There they discovered that the eruption had been the result of the mighty Induk Faldrass: a spirit of immense power with command over fire, breaking free from his long imprisonment.

Faldrass was not an enemy of humanity. Quite the opposite in fact, for Scalvoris was his home and he wished to protect it.

Becoming a Fireforged

The Fireforged are a subsect of The Forged. Like all Forged, the Fireforged as pledged to protect Scalvoris from all who would see it harmed and do their best to help it grow. Fireforged take their orders from the Induk of Faldrass. This does not mean that a Fireforged would not work alongside other Forged for the defense of Scalvoris or follow the instructions of other spirits, but orders given to them by Faldrass supersede all other commands

If you wish to become a Fireforged you must either:

A.) Be a member of the Forged, and swear your allegance to Faldrass
B.) Request an existing Fireforged PC to initiate you within the volcano on Faldrass (The Fireforged Headquarters.)
C.) Speak with a local Prophet about being initiated.
D.) Seasonal PC Initiation (Special): Each Fireforged has the ability to initiate one person a season into the Fireforged even while not in the presence of Faldrass. Each Fireforged is connected to Faldrass, so it is technically possible for him to reach out through existing Fireforged in order to initiate a new member in a pinch. However this is an uncomfortable process for the initiator.
Off Topic

Seasonal PC Initiation Details

When initiating at a location other than Faldrass the initiator must go to a quiet place with their initiate, and both must meditate in silence. The initiator’s Diri will then transform, forming a thin thread of fire that connects the initiator’s chest with the initiate’s. The Diri and the initiating Fireforged will begin to feel a searing heat moving through them as Faldrass reaches out toward the initiate through the connection. The initiate must then speak their vow out loud and Faldrass will choose whether or not to accept the vow. If the vow is accepted then the initiator and their Diri will suddenly be in immense pain as power is transferred through them and into the initiate, making them into a Fireforged. Once this has happened, the newly initiated Fireforged will find that their bonded Diri will appear within the next few breaks and introduce themselves. The initiating Fireforged will have a headache and be stiff for the next break but they will quickly recover from the process.
NOTE: Before any form of initiation you must register here as an applicant OOC and a moderator must approve the initiation attempt. This allows us to be aware of all of those being initiated so we can step in if we don't believe that the character in question would be suitable as a Fireforged.
Application Form:

Code: Select all

Character Name:
Their reason for joining the Fireforged:
Initiation Method:
Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before Faldrass and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to protecting Scalvoris. Faldrass must also judge you as being capable of upholding this vow.

Your Diri:
Once your vow is spoken Faldrass will reach out and bond you with a Diri. Through your connection to this Diri you will be granted the starting power of a Fireforged: Blazing Heart. These Diri are servants of Faldrass. They will be the new Fireforged’s guide and the source of their power. Diri can appear in a variety of strange forms but these Diri will always appear rather small (around the size of a small animal.) They can levitate, and speak telepathically with the Fireforged. The Diri cannot be seen by anyone other than fellow Fireforged and their Diri, although they can choose to reveal themselves to other mortals. Immortals and Induk can also see them.

You will need to write up your new Diri, and include their name, appearance, and personality, and post it in this thread. This must be approved before you may use your Diri in a thread. This diri should be suitably fire themed.

Diri Approval Form: You must fill this out and submit it here upon completing your initiation.

Fireforged Abilities

0 Points: Blazing Heart: The inner fire of Faldrass dwells within the heart of each and every Fireforged. It regulates their body temperature, keeping them comfortably warm even when in the freezing caves of Ishallr or the blazing heat of Faldrass volcano. The extremes of heat and cold will no longer have any effect upon the Fireforged. (Note: this does not protect them from damage inflicted by fire, ice or lava. It only makes them unaffected by the ambient temperature of whatever location they are in.)

20 Points: Fireball: An old classic. The Fireforged can conjure a ball of fire the size of their palm in their hand. This fire will not harm them or any other Fireforged, but to anything else will burn like any regular fire. They can hold it as if it were a solid object, and throw it at anyone as if it were a baseball. The Fireforged can create one fireball per trial for every five points they possess in the Order of the Forged.

40 Points: Phoenix Wings: The Fireforged can conjure wings made of pure flames from their back, like those of the legendary phoenix. These wings will allow them to fly as any tangible wings would, though require the Fireforged to learn the flying skill in order to control. Regular attacks cannot damage these wings, however if they are extinguished this ability will end and the Fireforged will fall to the ground (so beware of rain.) The Fireforged can maintain this ability for ten trills per day for every point they possess in the Order of the Fireforged. If the Fireforged already possesses a natural set of wings they can instead coat these wings with flames that will not burn them, preventing them from being grabbed or restrained.

60 Points: Fused in the Flames: The Diri of the Fireforged is the embodiment of their link to Faldrass and the source of their power. With this power the Fireforged is able to temporarily fuse themselves with their Diri, becoming a hybrid between mortal and spirit. Their appearance will take on some of the features of their Diri, and their skin will adopt a faint fiery glow. While in this form the Fireforged may act as if their strength, endurance and athletics skills are one tier higher than their skill levels (so a novices may act like a competent, a competent may act like an expert, and so on.) Additionally the Fireforged is able to physically touch and harm spirits and ghosts, though may be physically harmed by them in turn. They may maintain this form for one trill per day for every point they possess in the Order of the Fireforged.

80 Points: Inferno Forged: The bond between the Fireforged and their Diri has now become seamless. Their Diri can now physically shift into whatever weapon or small tool (no larger than a weapon) the Fireforged desires. This item will behave as if it is made of masterwork material, and will burn with the flames of Faldrass. Blades will seem as if made of adamantite as they will cut cleaner and sharper than steel. Bows, arrows, and the like will be equipped with an endless supply of ammunition made of pure fire. Bludgeoning weapons will also feel light as feathers but hit opponents like they are made of solid metal. One weapon may be summoned at any given time. If dropped the weapon will vanish into thin air and the Diri will reappear in their normal form. They can transform into a new weapon once ten trills have passed. The Fireforged must hold out their open hand in order to summon the weapon. You may use Fused in Flames and other Fireforged powers at the same time as this one.

100 Points: Avatar of Faldrass: When inducted as a Fireforged a special bond is formed between the Forged and the Heart of Faldrass. This bond not only binds the mortal to a Diri but it also forms a silent but residual bond with the Induk. It is only the most powerful of Forged that can call upon this hidden bond and summon forth the power of the Faldrass Induk. This ability can be used anywhere due to the power of Faldrass, linking the Induk to all of its Forged. Capable of being used once a Cycle the Arch Legatus may beseech Faldrass to come to their aid. If this call is accepted, the Induk will reach out and infuse the Arch Legatus with it’s will and it’s power. The Forged for a time will find that their consciousness melds with the strange and wild mind of the Induk. For that one moment they will no longer be wholly mortal. The Arch Legatus' eyes will turn a deep fire red and their skin will be radiant with power.

The Arch Legatus may then control and manipulate any fire within a mile of their position. They will also be capable of summoning a river of lava that is a mile wide and roughly two feet deep.

This ability can last for twenty bits before the Induk will withdraw, otherwise the Arch Legatus' body will begin to fail due to the power flowing through it. The river of lava left behind can remain or be dismissed by the Arch Legatus before the ability ends. If dismissed, it disappears immediately. If it is not dismissed, it will cease to exist within the next hour.

History of the Iceforged

The Order of the Iceforged came into existence in Ashan, 721, when a group of heroes travelled into the Ice Caves of Ishallr to try and balance the forces on Scalvoris. There they discovered that the ice statues which had been there for time immemorial, had been souls, tricked by Audrae in order to trap the Induk Ishallr: a spirit of immense power with command over ice, breaking free from his long imprisonment.

Ishallr was not an enemy of humanity. Quite the opposite in fact, for Scalvoris was his home and he wished to protect it. He knew that for balance to be fully restored to Scalvoris - to Idalos - then all Induks must be freed. And so Ishallr offered the heroes who had been present for his release a deal. He would grant them and other mortals who were committed to defending Scalvoris a fraction of his power. If they continued to prove themselves trustworthy he would grant them more of his powers, and reveal to them the ancient history of the island. Some of the heroes agreed, and with their bargain struck the Order of the Iceforged was created.

Soon, the Forged would be united again.

The Iceforged are a subsect of The Forged. Like all Forged, the Iceforged as pledged to protect Scalvoris from all who would see it harmed and do their best to help it grow. Iceforged take their orders from the Induk of Ishallr rather. This does not mean that an Iceforged would not work alongside other Forged for the defense of Scalvoris or follow the instructions of other spirits, but orders given to them by Ishallr supersede all other commands

If you wish to become a Iceforged you must either:

A.) Be a member of the Forged, and swear your allegance to Ishallr.
A.) Request an existing Iceforged PC to initiate you within the ice caves on Ishallr (The Iceforged Headquarters.)
B.) Speak with a local Prophet about being initiated.
C.) Seasonal PC Initiation (Special): Each Iceforged has the ability to initiate one person a season into the Iceforged even while not in the presence of Ishallr. Each Iceforged is connected to Ishallr, so it is technically possible for him to reach out through existing Iceforged in order to initiate a new member in a pinch. However this is an uncomfortable process for the initiator.

Seasonal PC Initiation Details

When initiating at a location other than Ishallr the initiator must go to a quiet place with their initiate, and both must meditate in silence. The initiator’s Diri will then transform, forming a thin thread of icy water that connects the initiator’s chest with the initiate’s. The Diri and the initiating Iceforged will begin to feel a freezing cold moving through them as Ishallr reaches out toward the initiate through the connection. The initiate must then speak their vow out loud and Ishallr will choose whether or not to accept the vow. If the vow is accepted then the initiator and their Diri will suddenly be in immense pain as power is transferred through them and into the initiate, making them into an Iceforged. Once this has happened, the newly initiated Iceforged will find that their bonded Diri will appear within the next few breaks and introduce themselves. The initiating Iceforged will have a headache and be stiff for the next break but they will quickly recover from the process.
NOTE: Before any form of initiation you must register here as an applicant OOC and a moderator must approve the initiation attempt. This allows us to be aware of all of those being initiated so we can step in if we don't believe that the character in question would be suitable as a Fireforged.
Application Form:

Their reason for joining the Iceforged:

Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before Ishallr and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to protecting Scalvoris. Faldrass must also judge you as being capable of upholding this vow.

Your Diri:
Once your vow is spoken Ishallr will reach out and bond you with a Diri. Through your connection to this Diri you will be granted the starting power of an Iceforged; Frozen Heart. These Diri are servants of ishallr. They will be the new Iceforged’s guide and the source of their power. Diri can appear in a variety of strange forms but these Diri will always appear rather small (around the size of a small animal.) They can levitate, and speak telepathically with the Iceforged. The Diri cannot be seen by anyone other than fellow Forged and their Diri, although they can choose to reveal themselves to other mortals. Immortals and Induk can also see them.

You will need to write up your new Diri, and include their name, appearance, and personality, and post it in this thread. This must be approved before you may use your Diri in a thread. This diri should be suitably ice themed.

Diri Approval Form: You must fill this out and submit it here upon completing your initiation.

Iceforged Abilities

0 Points: Frozen Heart: Sometimes a guardian must make tough choices in order to do their duty. They must be able to put aside their own personal desires and act in the best interests of many. Ishallr understands this better than most, and with this ability allows his Iceforged to ease the burden of such a difficult decision. Frozen Heart is an ability that can be activated by the user at will, or triggered by Ishallr or the Iceforged's diri. With it the Iceforged's emotions are temporarily removed, allowing them to act with cool dispassion and focus in any situation, and make the most logical decisions without taking into account individual emotions.

20 Points: Ice Spear: An old classic. The Iceforged can conjure a levitating spear of ice in their hand. This ice is suprisingly tough, and sharp enough to pierce through a grown man's body with ease provided it has enough momentum. The Iceforged can fire this spear in any direction to a speed of up to 6 meters per second. One ice spear can be created per trial for every five points they possess in the Order of the Forged.

40 Points: Cryogenesis: While not a exactly a healing power, Cryogenesis is an invaluable ability for an Iceforged who has been badly injured or who need to incapacitate a dangerous foe. With this power the iceforged can instantly encase themselves and one other person of equal or lesser size that they are holding in a block of solid, clear ice. As long as they are within the ice the Iceforged and the one they are holding remain in a state of suspended animation. They cannot move think, age or even dream; essentially pausing them in time while their diri goes to get help. This ice will slowly begin to melt when exposed to fire or intense sunlight, and although those encased within will emerge from it numb with cold they will not siffer any negative effects such as hypothermia from being defrosted.

60 Points: Combined in the Cold: The Diri of the Iceforged is the embodiment of their link to Ishallr and the source of their power. With this power the Iceforged is able to temporarily fuse themselves with their Diri, becoming a hybrid between mortal and spirit. Their appearance will take on some of the features of their Diri, and their skin will adopt a faint icy sheen. While in this form the Iceforged may act as if their strength, endurance and athletics skills are one tier higher than their skill levels (so a novices may act like a competent, a competent may act like an expert, and so on.) Additionally the Iceforged is able to physically touch and harm spirits and ghosts, though may be physically harmed by them in turn. They may maintain this form for one trill per day for every point they possess in the Order of the Forged.

80 Points: Blizzard Forged: The bond between the Iceforged and their Diri has now become seamless. Their Diri can now physically shift into whatever weapon or small tool (no larger than a weapon) the Iceforged desires. This item will behave as if it is made of masterwork material, and will freeze all it touches with the ice of Ishallr. Blades will seem as if made of adamantite as they will cut cleaner and sharper than steel. Bows, arrows, and the like will be equipped with an endless supply of ammunition made of pure ice. Bludgeoning weapons will also feel light as feathers but hit opponents like they are made of solid metal. One weapon may be summoned at any given time. If dropped the item will vanish into thin air and the Diri will reappear in their normal form. They can transform into a new item once ten trills have passed. The iceforged must hold out their open hand in order to summon the item. You may use Combined in the Cold and other Forged powers at the same time as this one.

100 Points: Avatar of Ishallr: When inducted as an Iceforged a special bond is formed between the Forged and the Heart of Ishallr. This bond not only binds the mortal to a Diri but it also forms a silent but residual bond with the Induk. It is only the most powerful of Iceforged that can call upon this hidden bond and summon forth the power of the Ishallr Induk. This ability can be used anywhere due to the power of Ishallr, linking the Induk to all of its Forged. Capable of being used once a Cycle, the Arch Legatus may beseech Ishallr to come to their aid. If this call is accepted, the Induk will reach out and infuse the Arch Legatus with it’s will and it’s power. The Forged for a time will find that their consciousness melds with the strange and wild mind of the Induk. For that one moment they will no longer be wholly mortal. The Arch Legatus' eyes will turn a deep icy blue and their skin will be radiant with power.

The Arch Legatus may then control and manipulate any water or ice within a mile of their position. They will also be capable of summoning an avalanche of snow that is a mile wide and roughly two feet deep.

This ability can last for twenty bits before the Induk will withdraw, otherwise the Arch Legatus' body will begin to fail due to the power flowing through it. The snow left behind can remain or be dismissed by the Arch Legatus before the ability ends. If dismissed, it disappears immediately. If it is not dismissed, it will cease to exist within the next hour.

History of the Songforged

The Order of the Songforged came into existence in Ashan, 721, when a group of heroes travelled into the Emerald Tree in Sweetwine Woods to try and balance the forces on Scalvoris. There they discovered that Ol'Tuck and the fairies of legend were in fact real and that Ol'Tuck himself had been the Induk Sweetwine: a spirit of immense power with command over air, breaking free from his long imprisonment.

Sweetwine was not an enemy of humanity. Quite the opposite in fact, for Scalvoris was his home and he wished to protect it. He knew that for balance to be fully restored to Scalvoris - to Idalos - then all Induks must be freed. And so Sweetwine offered the heroes who had been present for his release a deal. He would grant them and other mortals who were committed to defending Scalvoris a fraction of his power. If they continued to prove themselves trustworthy he would grant them more of his powers, and reveal to them the ancient history of the island. Some of the heroes agreed, and with their bargain struck the Order of the Songforged was created.

Soon, the Forged would be united again.

Songforged Abilities

0 Points: Light Hearted: Music is special to the Songforged. It is an expression not just of the wonders of the air, but also of the inner thoughts and feeling of the one who plays it. With this ability the Songforged is able to replicate the sounds of any instument without needing the instument itself. They still require skill in the insturment in order to make this sound effective, but simply by moving their fingers through the air in the right way they can replicate the sounds of a flute, harp, drum, or any other instrument they have heard before.

20 Points: Twister: An old classic. The Songforged can conjure a miniture twister the size of their palm in their hand. Though small, this twister is intensely powerful, and once thrown in any direction will continue to expand outwards are grow in size, knocking all objects in its path out of its way. However this wind also grows weaker the further it expands, until it completely dissipates roughly fifteen seconds after being released. The Songforged can hold this twister as if it were a solid object, and throw it at anyone as if it were a baseball. The Songforged can create one twister per trial for every five points they possess in the Order of the Forged.

40 Points: Lightning Bolt: By twisting the air in a way tha forces the particles of oxygen and hydrogen in the sky to collide against each other rapidly, the Songforged can generate a charge of electrical energy high in the sky above them. For every point of the forged the Songforged possesses, they can generate 1 million volts per minute (the avergae lightning volt is 300 million volts) and can generate no more that 1000 million volts. When the Songforged wills it, the accumulated charge will decend from the sky upon a target of their choosing. This power can be used once per day, and requires the Songforged to keep one of their arms raised up towards the sky during charging.

60 Points: Melded in the Music: The Diri of the Songforged is the embodiment of their link to Sweetwine and the source of their power. With this power the Songforged is able to temporarily fuse themselves with their Diri, becoming a hybrid between mortal and spirit. Bows, arrows, and the like will be equipped with an endless supply of ammunition made of compressed air. Bludgeoning weapons will also feel light as feathers but hit opponents like they are made of solid metal. One item may be summoned at any given time. If dropped the item will vanish into thin air and the Diri will reappear in their normal form. They can transform into a new item once ten trills have passed. The Songforged must hold out their open hand in order to summon theitem. You may use Melded in the Music and other Songforged powers at the same time as this one.

Soulforged Abilities

0 Points: Kind Hearted: Soulforged have a special bond with nature. They see the plants and trees of the world not just as resources or decorations, but as living, breathing entities. With this ability the Soulforged is able to speak to plants and trees, allowing them to ask the flora to reveal information it might have overheard so long as they have sufficient social skills to persuade the plant to part with this information.

20 Points: Rock Spear: An old classic. The Soulforged can conjure a levitating spear of rock in their hand. This rock is suprisingly tough, and sharp enough to pierce through a grown man's body with ease provided it has enough momentum. The Soulforged can fire this spear in any direction to a speed of up to 6 meters per second. One rock spear can be created per trial for every five points they possess in the Order of the Forged.

40 Points: Gaia's Wrath: A Soulforged who has reached this level of power has developed such a bond with the nature of Scalvoris that the very trees and plants on the island will come to their aid. As long as the target is standing near a tree or other suitable tough plants, at the Soulforged's command the the roots anbd vines of those plants will shoot at high speeds towards the target and attempt to ensnare their limbs, resitricting movement. Some particularly vicious species of flora might even attempt to entangle the target's throat and strangle the target to death.

60 Points: Smelted in the Soul: The Diri of the Soulforged is the embodiment of their link to Scaltoth and the source of their power. With this power the Soulforged is able to temporarily fuse themselves with their Diri, becoming a hybrid between mortal and spirit. Their appearance will take on some of the features of their Diri, and the earth beneath them will begin to rumble with power. While in this form the Soulforged may act as if their strength, endurance and athletics skills are one tier higher than their skill levels (so a novices may act like a competent, a competent may act like an expert, and so on.) Additionally the Soulforged is able to physically touch and harm spirits and ghosts, though may be physically harmed by them in turn. They may maintain this form for one trill per day for every point they possess in the Order of the Forged.

80 Points: Aura Forged: The bond between the Soulforged and their Diri has now become seamless. Their Diri can now physically shift into whatever weapon or small tool (no larger than a weapon) the Soulforged desires. This item will behave as if it is made of masterwork material, and is as hard and unyielding as the mighty trees of Scaltoth. Blades will seem as if made of adamantite as they will cut cleaner and sharper than steel. Bows, arrows, and the like will be equipped with an endless supply of ammunition made of rock. Bludgeoning weapons will also feel light as feathers but hit opponents like they are made of solid metal. One item may be summoned at any given time. If dropped the item will vanish into thin air and the Diri will reappear in their normal form. They can transform into a new item once ten trills have passed. The Soulforged must hold out their open hand in order to summon the weapon. You may use Smelted in the Soul and other Soulforged powers at the same time as this one.

100 Points: Avatar of Scaltoth: When inducted as a Soulforged a special bond is formed between the Forged and the Heart of Scaltoth. This bond not only binds the mortal to a Diri but it also forms a silent but residual bond with the Induk. It is only the most powerful of Forged that can call upon this hidden bond and summon forth the power of the Scaltoth Induk. This ability can be used anywhere due to the power of Scaltoth, linking the Induk to all of its Forged. Capable of being used once a Cycle, the Arch Legatus may beseech Scaltoth to come to their aid. If this call is accepted, the Induk will reach out and infuse the Arch Legatus with it’s will and it’s power. The Forged for a time will find that their consciousness melds with the strange and wild mind of the Induk. For that one moment they will no longer be wholly mortal. The Arch Legatus' eyes will turn a deep, glowing green and their skin will be radiant with power.

The Arch Legatus may then control and manipulate any source of stone or earth within a mile of their position. They will also be capable of quickly summoning any number of common, non-magical species of trees.

This ability can last for twenty bits before the Induk will withdraw, otherwise the Arch Legatus' body will begin to fail due to the power flowing through it. The trees left behind can remain or be dismissed by the Arch Legatus before the ability ends. If dismissed, it disappears immediately. If it is not dismissed, it will cease to exist within the next hour.

Re: [Faction] The Forged

Becoming a Life / Death Forged

Becoming a Life or Death Forged is an honour bestowed upon the most faithful of the Forged. Those who have excelled in their relationship with the Induks and who have served Scalvoris well.

If you wish to become a Life or Death Forged you must:

A.) Have reached 101 Forged Points.
B.) Speak with a local Prophet about being initiated.

NOTE: Before any form of progress you must register here as an applicant OOC and a moderator must approve the initiation attempt. Life and Death Forged is not an automatic progression for anyone except those in the original Forging - those PCs who freed the Induks originally do not need to apply, but need to just let Peg know!

Application Form:

Code: Select all

Character Name:
Why would the Induks accept you as Life / Death Forged?
Life or Death:
Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before one of the great Induk and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to protecting Scalvoris. The Induk must also judge you as being capable of upholding this vow.

Forged Ranks & Abilities

Ranking up is done automatically.
The Life / Death Forged work on regular "Forged" Points - tracked via the UCP.

101 Points: Reforged (Spirit-Marked Mortal):
The newly Forged is now known as a Spirit-Marked. This makes them more aware of, and able to sense spirits. They can now see and communicate with any / all spirits, from Diri to Induk. This includes normally hidden spirits. It does NOTHING for ghosts etc, and only applies to Spirits. Scalvoris spirits (including the fairies of Sweetwine) are more likely to do as is asked of them and will treat the Forged with respect.

Ability: Spirit Map.
In this moment the Life Forged / Death Forged can see Scalvoris. They have to sit and draw a circle on the ground / or in the water / in the air/ stare into the fire - and in their chosen place they’ll slowly start to see a map of Scalv.

It takes a full hour of concentration but then the Forged can focus and see / know all of Scalvoris in terms of ONE thing (they must pick at the outset. If they want more than one thing, they need to repeat this).

These are experienced as elemental changes in the map, in the eyes of the Forged. So, for example “Hot and Cold” for offences (so hot is we’ve got good offensive capabilities, cold spots are poor ones).

They can see:
Threats. - This is threats TO Scalv. It may be the big fleet of ships about to attack or the volcano about to erupt. It is about threats to life. It gives a general sense and the place, but no more than that.
Offensive capability - This is about Scalv’s offensive capability, where they are able to attack from and what their weaponry is. .
Defensive capability and weakness. - This is about Scalv’s defences and ability to see off an attack.
Disease. - They see both where cases of disease are (so they’ll know that there’s 5 diseased people in Almund, for example, they can’t say who they are) and how bad the disease is.
Hunger.- They see both where cases of hunger are (so they’ll know that there’s 5 hungry people in Almund, for example, they can’t say who they are) and how bad the hunger is.

Death Forged Can also sense the health of groups of people / places on the map - from “closest to a natural death” to “furthest away from a natural death”

120 Points Diri Evolution: Mortal-Marked Diri
The diri takes on a new form but it is a larger, more powerful version of who the Diri is.
PC should submit this to the Forged Tracker.
Diri can be physical, can be hurt when physical.
Has first and second Subfaction Power of original Forging.
If they had the maximum, (5) can gain another Relationship Point (only one and only for threads from this point on) - consequence to be revealed.

140: Life Forged / Death Forged 1: Spirit Seer

Death Forged Seer: Their ability with their “spirit map” now evolves to include the history of the island. This allows the Forged to get an overview of the island’s history and sense rough imprints of events - by necessity this is rather general and the Forged needs to focus on specific times (Arcs and Cycles, not days unless something very specific and impactful happened). Some things are shrouded, still.

Life Forged Seer: Their ability with their “spirit map” now evolves to include the feelings / emotions of those on the island. This allows the Forged to get an overview of the island and sense rough imprints of people’s feelings - by necessity this is rather general (people in Almund are happy, afraid, etc).

As per regular Forged.

Gaining Points and Ranking Up

It is quantifiably more difficult to gain Life / Death Forged points than it was to gain points as a Fire / Ice / Song / Soul Forged. Repeating what you have done previously, doing stuff that's mundane, all of that sort of thing -it will NOT get you points. All Life / Death Forged points need to be put here in order to be awarded. This will only continue till we've got a good idea of what does / doesn't work!

Collab Points: You will recieve extra for a collaborative thread. Working with others is important and you should be rewarded for leading others in the defense of Scalvoris.

Induk Points: You will receive extra points for a thread with any one or more of the Scalvoris Induks.

Gaining Life & Death Forged Points

In order to gain Fire Forged Points, you need to consider the following:
  • Does it impact Scalvoris as a whole?
  • Is it to do with any one of the four "main" places?
  • Is it something you've done before? If so - it's not likely to gain more points.
  • Is it doing something? Induks are much more likely to award points / progression for doing.

Re: [Faction] The Forged

Diri Name: Fintan (Fin)
Appearance: Due to Elisabeth's title as 'Death Forged' and the events that led to her death and resurrection during the Forging of 721, her diri takes the form of a phoenix. Fintan is a small, majestic creature whose various shades of blue-toned feathers fade into icy translucence, shimmering with a soft iridescence. As beautiful and graceful as he appears, Fintan piercing eyes are constantly surveying that which is around him, taking his job as Elisabeth's companion and guide seriously, warning her of dangers.
Personality: Fintan is his own being, independent and serious at times, but once he gets to know someone, his true personality shines through. Being bored doesn't suit the curious being, often asking Elisabeth question after question about new things and experiences. While he can be playful, he reserves that behavior for those he knows extremely well. Unless needed elsewhere, Fintan can often be found on Elisabeth's shoulder, observing her interactions with others and always asking questions.

Re: [Faction] The Forged

Diri Name: Lumi
Appearance: Lumi takes the form of a small Kioo Tulki with soft, icy blue fur, large, pointed ears, a fluffed-out tail and a pair of antlers that look like icicles growing out of its head. It has beautiful, graceful, feathered wings on its back. Even though it does not need to do so, being a spirit, Lumi frequently flies when appearing. When it does so, tiny snowflakes seem to fall from its wings and gently float to the ground.
Personality: Lumi has adopted many traits of its animal form. It is clever, perceptive and incredibly curious about the world. If Doran is looking for something, it usually tries to help him find it, and it tends to make observations about their surroundings. It is a peaceful spirit that has very few aggressive tendencies. When Lumi is alone with Doran, it can be quite talkative as well as slightly whimsical and humorous. When Doran is in the company of other people, it is usually perched somewhere up high and watches the proceedings though. It is not really shy; it just prefers to quietly gather as much information as possible.

Re: [Faction] The Forged

Image
Diri Name: Sod
Appearance: A small, miniature version of an Orangutan, with green, mossy fur, and an earthen mask. He has an elongated tail that drags behind him, which resembles a wooden vine.
Personality: A slow, ponderous, and patient spirit. Sod likes to take a methodical approach to most any endeavor. Often hedging against quick decisions, he is not impulsive at all, but prefers to take in all possible perpsectives before considering an action. Even then, he prefers to lay back and watch, coming in at an opportune time in order to act. He can be talkative, but oftentimes will take it very slowly. He will not speak in haste, but only gets loud when his message is urgent. He prefers solitude, but can be persuaded to engage with others at need. However, he finds many other spirits very chatty, outgoing, and too quick for his liking.

Approved! Please note that he is small so we're talking a miniature minature. Roughly the size of a small dog.

Re: [Faction] The Forged

Diri Name: Aurien
Appearance: A tiny dragon about the size of a human's palm, Aurien appears to be made entirely of ice, to the point of his wings being translucent. With a curious look almost permanently fixed on his face, Aurien rarely, if ever stays still, wings fluttering and tail swishing as he paces across Praetorum's shoulders or flies around his head.
Image
Personality: Shy and inquisitive, Aurien prefers to stay hidden from mortals, all the better to watch them go about their lives. To strangers, Aurien is quiet, cold and reserved; to his friends, Aurien is curious and playful, though still somewhat placid. The icy diri's anger is slow to rouse—but once it emerges, it strikes with all the force of an avalanche.

Note: Edited the personality descriptor a tiny bit
