46th of Ashan, 719

To say the days had been smooth sailing would have been an exaggeration but they had been...uneventful. And the Biqaj was entirely fine with this, her hand still hurt and was healing not mention she wanted as far away from that damned Mer as possible before she got dragged off into Immortals knew what next. Which is why she'd given herself on a day or two of recuperation then practically fled Almund and it was only by accident that she'd sailed in the wrong direction. If it weren't for the fact that she knew Ashan wasn't ready for such a long journey then she would have probably sailed away from the hole of the island and never looked back. Now she almost wished she'd had.
It had been an simple few days. Ashan both worried, nagging and angry about her finger and more. But they were catching fish, the weather was good, and it was a bonding experience even if her girl got more seasick the farther out they went. It only made sense that the fates would spite her or maybe it was Chiren, who knew and certainly the Biqaj did not care because she was too busy debating it she could sail out of it or try to sail into it.
"What's happening?!" Korva moved to sooth the girl as she wrapped the rope around her waist, then eyed the progressively shuddering boat. If they sunk, highly likely in squalls when you were this close to land and whatever was hidden under the waves, the mast would likely drag them down. But sending her below deck did the same. Pursing her lips she continued to loop it around Ashans' waist, then square knotted hers and her girls together. The slip knots around themselves were simple and not what was normally used but the Biqaj needed to be sure that she could get them untied if needed while still keeping Ashan near, "M-mom!"
The confusion in her voice, the tentative use of the word had the womans' eyes flashing, both in delayed delight and reassurance and maybe, just maybe a small niggle of doubt. Why was it all her kids only ever called her mom when something bad was happening? Shaking the thought away because it didn't matter right then anyway she pressed her hands to Ashans' cheeks, "Ya gotta do everything I say, all of it. Ya hear? Just a storm but ya ain't good swimmer. Gonna head in 'fore it pushes us too far out."
As she stood she pressed a quick kiss to the girls cheek and didn't mention that if they came in too quick on the storm they'd likely crash or that it was far to late to really sail at all and all they'd be doing was riding it out but she wasn't going to worry her kid over nothing. As she stood, her girl gripped her hand tightly while Korva began to pull in her sails, the woman muttering darkly under her breath, "U'frek if ya let anything happen to her I'll kick yer ass...so a little help ain't gonna hurt."
