Looking around, he'd see the swirling snow as the Enormowl carried his cage beneath it over the Scalvoris Mountains. It was frigid up here, and with the thin air, the mouth gag, breathing was incredibly difficult. Soon, he'd see a massive building in the distance, built into the side of a mountain approaching. The owl swooped down, then fluttered upon the roof, lowering him gently. His cage was dropped into the back of a cart, being pulled by mountain rams. This cart was taken down a series of ramps, through locked doors, gates, and neverending halls. Mercedes would be able to see the money flowing through this place. Nels being hauled around by the wagon load, gems the size of his head being put onto shelves behind bars.
He was brought into an ornate room, carved of rainbow hued marble. His cage was unlocked, a noose upon a pole stuck in, put over his head. He was then dragged out of his cage by a big, beefy, armored guard, and forced to his feet. The lines for the overseers were longer than when Maxine had come through. Mercedes, being delivered by owl, came during the rush, and deliveries, shipments, employee shift changes, etc. So a few breaks passed as he was forced to stand there in silence, held in control by the two guards with him. Once he was brought forward to the overseer, a tall woman with a hawk's nose, who just stared at him, before being handed a scroll. She read over it, then looked at him once more.
"Mercedes, no known last name, Defier. Found guilty of inciting a riot, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and hosting a protest in Scalvoris Town without a permit. For these crimes, you've been given a sentence of 1 arc. This time begins immediately, and you will serve it out in level seven."
She waved over a guard, smiling lightly, briefly as he carried over a large wooden crate with the name Mercedes' upon it. It was empty. "Place the rest of your belongings, including your clothing into the crate. We will provide you a robe to clothe yourself. Your belongings will be put into storage, and returned to you upon your release. On Ashan 65, 719, a contingent of guards will come to level seven, and announce your name for your release. You will have twenty-four breaks to answer the call. If not, we will assume you have no desire for release. During your stay, you will be provided with a pickaxe and a shovel, so that should you wish mine, you may. We strongly recommend this, as it is a highly successful therapy task, and has helped many a lost criminal."
She nodded at the two guards, who proceeded to unlock and undo all of Mercedes restraints, including his cuffs of paradigm, for they knew it took time for any of the magic to truly come back, and by that time, he'd be safe within level seven. "You may now give a name of one person you wish to be brought here upon your release date. We will reach out to them with the best of our ability, and arrange for their transport here."
The woman signed the scroll and rolled it up, as she waited for Mercedes to strip, and for the guards to search his person roughly. Once they were satisfied he had nothing on him, he was handed his robe, and cuffed once more at the wrists. Two guards waited on him, to escort him down below to Level Seven. His overseer looked at him one last time, "May you learn your lesson, Mercedes."
